ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੀ. ਤਾ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ; ਨਾਮੇ ਧਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
har gun saaree. taa kant piaaree; naame dharee piaaro |
ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟਤਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੇ ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਤੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਡਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
Dwell upon the Lord's Glories, and you shall be loved by your Husband, embracing love for the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ; ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰੋ ॥੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੀ ਗਰਦਨ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਦੀ ਲਾਡਲੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the soul-bride who wears the necklace of the Lord's Name around her neck is loved by her Husband Lord. ||2||
ਧਨ ਏਕਲੜੀ ਜੀਉ; ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਐਨ ਇਕੱਲੀ ਹੈ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੰਤ ਬਗੈਰ।
The soul-bride who is without her beloved Husband is all alone.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਠੀ ਜੀਉ; ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰਸਬਦ ਕਰਾਰੇ ॥
doojai bhaae mutthee jeeo; bin gurasabad karaare |
ਮੁਅੱਸਰ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਠੱਗੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
She is cheated by the love of duality, without the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਰੇ. ਕਉਣੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੇ; ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਈ ॥

ਨਾਮ ਸਨੇਹੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਠਨ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਧੰਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਛਡਿਆ ਹੈ।
Without the Shabad of her Beloved, how can she cross over the treacherous ocean? Attachment to Maya has led her astray.
ਕੂੜਿ ਵਿਗੁਤੀ. ਤਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੁਤੀ; ਸਾ ਧਨ. ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥

ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਝੁਠ ਨੇ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ, ਤਦ ਖਸਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਾਂਜਲੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਤੀ, ਪਤਨੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
Ruined by falsehood, she is deserted by her Husband Lord. The soul-bride does not attain the Mansion of His Presence.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੇ ਰਾਤੀ. ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ; ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਤਵਾਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
But she who is attuned to the Guru's Shabad is intoxicated with celestial love; night and day, she remains absorbed in Him.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ; ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੩॥

ਪੂਜਯ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, that soul-bride who remains constantly steeped in His Love, is blended by the Lord into Himself. ||3||
ਤਾ ਮਿਲੀਐ. ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਜੀਉ; ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ. ਕਵਣੁ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਾਵੇ, ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
If the Lord merges us with Himself, we are merged with Him. Without the Dear Lord, who can merge us with Him?
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਉ; ਕਉਣੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
bin gur preetam aapane jeeo; kaun bharam chukaae |
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਸਾਡਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Without our Beloved Guru, who can dispel our doubt?
ਗੁਰੁ. ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ, ਇਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਮਾਏ; ਤਾ. ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਹੈ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਣ ਦਾ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਤਾ! ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁੰਧ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through the Guru, doubt is dispelled. O my mother, this is the way to meet Him; this is how the soul-bride finds peace.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ. ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ; ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ. ਮਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur sevaa bin. ghor andhaar; bin gur. mag na paae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ-ਘੁੱਪ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਰਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।
Without serving the Guru, there is only pitch darkness. Without the Guru, the Way is not found.
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ, ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ; ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
kaaman rang raatee, sahaje maatee; gur kai sabad veechaare |
ਪਤਨੀ ਜੋ ਰੱਬੀ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ-ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
That wife who is intuitively imbued with the color of His Love, contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਵਾਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਵਜੋ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the soul-bride obtains the Lord as her Husband, by enshrining love for the Beloved Guru. ||4||1||

ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ. ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜੀਉ; ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ. ਕਿਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
pir bin. kharee nimaanee jeeo; bin pir. kiau jeevaa meree maaee |
ਆਪਣੇ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਬੜੀ ਬੇਪਤੀ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਊ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਤਾ?
Without my Husband, I am utterly dishonored. Without my Husband Lord, how can I live, O my mother?
ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਦ. ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ; ਕਾਪੜੁ. ਤਨਿ ਨ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥

ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਤੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੀਦਰਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੋਭਦੀ।
Without my Husband, sleep does not come, and my body is not adorned with my bridal dress.
ਕਾਪਰੁ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ. ਜਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ; ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥

ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਸੁਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
The bridal dress looks beautiful upon my body, when I am pleasing to my Husband Lord. Following the Guru's Teachings, my consciousness is focused on Him.
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ. ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ; ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੋਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
I become His happy soul-bride forever, when I serve the True Guru; I sit in the Lap of the Guru.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਾ. ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੀ; ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਲਵੇ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਲਾਹੇਵੰਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the soul-bride meets her Husband Lord, who ravishes and enjoys her. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the only profit in this world.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ; ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੜੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਵਾਦ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the soul-bride is loved by her Husband, when she dwells upon the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੇ ਜੀਉ; ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਤਨੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
The soul-bride enjoys the Love of her Beloved.
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੀਉ; ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥

ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Imbued with His Love night and day, she contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ. ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ; ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਉਹ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦੀ ਹੈ।
Contemplating the Guru's Shabad, she conquers her ego, and in this way, she meets her Beloved.
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ. ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ; ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਮੂੰਧ ਜੋ ਮਿਠੜੇ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਰੰਗੀਜੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
She is the happy soul-bride of her Lord, who is forever imbued with the Love of the True Name of her Beloved.
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੀਐ. ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਗਹੀਐ; ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥

ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਪਰੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
Abiding in the Company of our Guru, we grasp the Ambrosial Nectar; we conquer and cast out our sense of duality.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੂਹ ਬੇਆਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, the soul-bride attains her Husband Lord, and forgets all her pains. ||2||
ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਭੁਲੀ ਜੀਉ; ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
kaaman pirahu bhulee jeeo; maaeaa mohi piaare |
ਧੰਨ-ਦੋਲਤ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
The soul-bride has forgotten her Husband Lord, because of love and emotional attachment to Maya.
ਝੂਠੀ. ਝੂਠਿ ਲਗੀ ਜੀਉ; ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
jhootthee. jhootth lagee jeeo; koorr mutthee koorriaare |
ਕੁੜੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਕੂੜ ਨਾਲ ਚਿਮੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਕਪਟੀ ਸੁਆਣੀ ਕਪਟ ਨੇ ਛਲ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
The false bride is attached to falsehood; the insincere one is cheated by insincerity.
ਕੂੜੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੇ; ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ. ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
koorr nivaare. guramat saare; jooai janam. na haare |
ਜੋ ਕੂੜ ਕੁਸੱਤ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੂਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਰਦੀ।
She who drives out her falsehood, and acts according to the Guru's Teachings, does not lose her life in the gamble.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਸੇਵੇ. ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ; ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

ਜੋ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
One who serves the Word of the Guru's Shabad is absorbed in the True Lord; she eradicates egotism from within.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ; ਐਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥
har kaa naam ridai vasaae; aisaa kare seegaaro |
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕਾ ਤੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਾਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਣਾ।
So let the Name of the Lord abide within your heart; decorate yourself in this way.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਾਮਣਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ; ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
naanak. kaaman sehaj samaanee; jis saachaa naam adhaaro |3|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਜਿਸ ਧਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the soul-bride who takes the Support of the True Name is intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||3||
ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਜੀਉ; ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਰੀ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ॥
mil mere preetamaa jeeo; tudh bin kharee nimaanee |
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਤਵੰਤੇ ਦਿਲਬਰ! ਤੇਰੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਬੇਇਜ਼ਤ ਹਾਂ।
Meet me, O my Dear Beloved. Without You, I am totally dishonored.
ਮੈ ਨੈਣੀ. ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੀਉ; ਭਾਵੈ. ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਣੀ ॥

ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੀਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਤੇ ਜਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ।
Sleep does not come to my eyes, and I have no desire for food or water.
ਪਾਣੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ. ਮਰੀਐ ਹਾਵੈ; ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ. ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੋਜਨ ਤੇ ਜਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਆਰਾਮ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
I have no desire for food or water, and I am dying from the pain of separation. Without my Husband Lord, how can I find peace?
