ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧਨ. ਟਿਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ; ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਏ ॥
maaeaa bandhan. ttikai naahee; khin khin dukh santaae |
ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦਾ ਨਰੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ। ਹਰ ਮੁਹਤ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖਾਂਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Bound by Maya, the mind is not stable. Each and every moment, it suffers in pain.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ. ਤਦੇ ਚੂਕੈ; ਜਾ. ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥੩॥

ਕੇਵਲ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਧਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the pain of Maya is taken away by focusing one's consciousness on the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||3||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ, ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ; ਸਬਦੁ. ਮਨਿ ਨ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੀ, ਮੂਰਖ ਅਤੇ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੀ।
The self-willed manmukhs are foolish and crazy, O my dear; they do not enshrine the Shabad within their minds.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਅੰਧੁ. ਪਿਰਾ ਜੀਉ; ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਏ ॥

ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਗਲਤ ਫਹਿਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਬੱਬ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
The delusion of Maya has made them blind, O my dear; how can they find the Way of the Lord?
ਕਿਉ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪਾਏ. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਏ; ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਏ ॥

ਜਦ ਤਾਂਈ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਤੂੰ ਰਸਤਾ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਅਧਰਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
How can they find the Way, without the Will of the True Guru? The manmukhs foolishly display themselves.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ; ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
har ke chaakar sadaa suhele; gur charanee chit laae |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ, ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Lord's servants are forever comfortable. They focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ. ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those unto whom the Lord shows His Mercy, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਗਿ ਲਾਹਾ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੪॥੫॥੭॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਮੁਨਾਫਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਹੀਰੇ ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the only profit in this world. The Lord Himself imparts this understanding to the Gurmukh. ||4||5||7||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਉ; ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਦਾਸੀਨਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਾਂਗੀ?
My mind has become sad and depressed; how can I see God, the Great Giver?
ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ; ਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥
mere meet sakhaa har jeeo; gur purakh bidhaate |
ਮਾਨਯੋਗ, ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ।
My Friend and Companion is the Dear Lord, the Guru, the Architect of Destiny.
ਪੁਰਖੋ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰੁ; ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲਹ ਤੁਝੈ. ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ॥

ਹੇ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦੇ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਲਖ਼ਸ਼ਮੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਮੈਂ ਨਿਮੋਝੂਣੀ, ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ?
The One Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is the Master of the Goddess of Wealth; how can I, in my sadness, meet You?
ਕਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਵਾ, ਸੀਸੁ ਚਰਣੀ; ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਦਰਸ ਨਿਮਾਣੀਆ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਤੇਰੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਮਨੂਏ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ।
My hands serve You, and my head is at Your Feet. My mind, dishonored, yearns for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ. ਨ ਘੜੀ ਵਿਸਰੈ; ਪਲੁ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

ਇਕ ਸੁਆਸ ਦੇ ਵਕਫੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ। ਹਰ ਛਿਨ ਲਮ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੈ ਮਾਲਕ!
With each and every breath, I think of You, day and night; I do not forget You, for an instant, even for a moment.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਜਿਉ ਪਿਆਸੇ; ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥

ਪਪੀਹੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰਿਆ-ਦਿਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੇਟੇਗਾ?
O Nanak, I am thirsty, like the rainbird; how can I meet God, the Great Giver? ||1||
ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਜੀਉ; ਸੁਣਿ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਡਲੇ ਖ਼ਸਮ!
I offer this one prayer - please listen, O my Beloved Husband Lord.
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਆ ਜੀਉ; ਦੇਖਿ ਚਲਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥
meraa man tan mohi leea jeeo; dekh chalat tumaare |
ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਖੇਡਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਫ਼ਰੇਫ਼ਤਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
My mind and body are enticed, beholding Your wondrous play.
ਚਲਤਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ; ਉਦਾਸ ਧਨ. ਕਿਉ ਧੀਰਏ ॥
chalataa tumaare dekh mohee; udaas dhan. kiau dheere |
ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਖੇਡਾ ਤੱਕ ਮੈਂ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਦਾਸੀਨ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਕਿਵੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਬੱਝੋ?
Beholding Your wondrous play, I am enticed; but how can the sad, forlorn bride find contentment?
ਗੁਣਵੰਤ ਨਾਹ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਬਾਲਾ; ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਭਰਪੂਰਏ ॥
gunavant naah deaal baalaa; sarab gun bharapoore |
ਮੇਰਾ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ-ਨਿਪੁੰਨ, ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਦ-ਜੁਆਨ ਭਰਤਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਤਮਤਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀ-ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ।
My Lord is Meritorious, Merciful and Eternally Young; He is overflowing with all excellences.
ਪਿਰ ਦੋਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ. ਸੁਖਹ ਦਾਤੇ; ਹਉ ਵਿਛੁੜੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੇ ॥
pir dos naahee. sukhah daate; hau vichhurree buriaare |
ਆਰਾਮ-ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਕਸੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜੁਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ।
The fault is not with my Husband Lord, the Giver of peace; I am separated from Him by my own mistakes.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ. ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ; ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ. ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੨॥
binavant naanak. deaa dhaarahu; ghar aavahu. naah piaare |2|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਦੜੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, "ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਨੂੰ ਮੋੜਾ ਪਾ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਡਲੇ ਪਤੀ!"
Prays Nanak, please be merciful to me, and return home, O my Beloved Husband Lord. ||2||
ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ. ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ; ਅਰਪੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
hau man arapee. sabh tan arapee; arapee sabh desaa |
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ।
I surrender my mind, I surrender my whole body; I surrender all my lands.
ਹਉ ਸਿਰੁ ਅਰਪੀ. ਤਿਸੁ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ; ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਇ ਸਦੇਸਾ ॥
hau sir arapee. tis meet piaare; jo prabh dee sadesaa |
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੀਸ ਉਸ ਲਾਲਡੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
I surrender my head to that beloved friend, who brings me news of God.
ਅਰਪਿਆ ਤ ਸੀਸੁ. ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ; ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
arapiaa ta sees. suthaan gur peh; sang prabhoo dikhaaeaa |
ਪਰਮ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸਟ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਐਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
I have offered my head to the Guru, the most exalted; He has shown me that God is with me.
ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ; ਮਨਹੁ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
khin maeh sagalaa dookh mittiaa; manahu chindiaa paaeaa |
ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖੜੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
In an instant, all suffering is removed. I have obtained all my mind's desires.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਕਰੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ; ਮਿਟੇ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥
din rain raleea karai kaaman; mitte sagal andesaa |
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ, ਹੁਣ ਪਤਨੀ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ iਫ਼ਕਰ ਮੁਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Day and night, the soul-bride makes merry; all her anxieties are erased.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ. ਕੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ; ਲੋੜਤੇ ਹਮ ਜੈਸਾ ॥੩॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਨਸ਼ਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Prays Nanak, I have met the Husband Lord of my longing. ||3||
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਉ; ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥
merai man anad bheaa jeeo; vajee vaadhaaee |
ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦਾ ਮਿਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
My mind is filled with bliss, and congratulations are pouring in.
ਘਰਿ ਲਾਲੁ ਆਇਆ ਪਿਆਰਾ; ਸਭ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
ghar laal aaeaa piaaraa; sabh tikhaa bujhaaee |
ਮੇਰਾ ਲਾਲਡਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
My Darling Beloved has come home to me, and all my desires have been satisfied.
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤ ਲਾਲੁ. ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ; ਸਖੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
miliaa ta laal. gupaal tthaakur; sakhee mangal gaaeaa |
ਮੈਂ ਜੱਗ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੱਠੜੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਈ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
I have met my Sweet Lord and Master of the Universe, and my companions sing the songs of joy.
ਸਭ ਮੀਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਹਰਖੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ; ਦੂਤ ਥਾਉ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
sabh meet bandhap harakh upajiaa; doot thaau gavaaeaa |
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਕ-ਸੈਨ ਅਨੰਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਟੜ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਤਕ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
All my friends and relatives are happy, and all traces of my enemies have been removed.
ਅਨਹਤ ਵਾਜੇ. ਵਜਹਿ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ; ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੇਜ ਵਿਛਾਈ ॥
anahat vaaje. vajeh ghar meh; pir sang sej vichhaaee |
ਸੁਤੇ ਸਿਧ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਧਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੂੰਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲਬਰ ਲਈ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਸੇਜ ਵਿਛਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
The unstruck melody vibrates in my home, and the bed has been made up for my Beloved.
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ. ਸਹਜਿ ਰਹੈ; ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕੰਤੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਅਨੰਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰਾ ਆਰਾਮ-ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਭਰਤਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
