ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ. ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ; ਲਾਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥
man tan seetal. saant sehaj; laagaa prabh kee sev |
ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਠੰਢੇਠਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਚੈਨ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
My mind and body are cooled and soothed, in intuitive peace and poise; I have dedicated myself to serving God.
ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ; ਸਫਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ॥
ttootte bandhan bahu bikaar; safal pooran taa ke kaam |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੂੜ ਵੱਢੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਰਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
One who meditates in remembrance on the Name of the Lord - his bonds are broken, all his sins are erased,
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਿਟੀ. ਹਉਮੈ ਛੁਟੀ; ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
and his works are brought to perfect fruition; his evil-mindedness disappears, and his ego is subdued.
ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ; ਮਿਟਿਆ ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨ ॥

ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਪਕੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੁਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Taking to the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, his comings and goings in reincarnation are ended.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ. ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ; ਗੁਣ ਗੁਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਵਨ ॥

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਣੇ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
He saves himself, along with his family, chanting the Praises of God, the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ; ਜਪੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਵਜਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I serve the Lord, and I chant the Name of God.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥੧੫॥

ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ, ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
From the Perfect Guru, Nanak has obtained peace and comfortable ease. ||15||

ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਡਿਕਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ।
The perfect person never wavers; God Himself made him perfect.
ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਹੋਤ ਨ ਘਾਟਿ ॥੧੬॥

ਰੋਜ਼-ਬਰੋਜ਼ ਉਹ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
Day by day, he prospers; O Nanak, he shall not fail. ||16||

ਪੂਰਨਮਾ. ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੁ; ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥

ਪੂਰਨਮਾਸ਼ੀ-ਕੇਵਲ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹੀ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਬੱਬਾ ਦਾ ਸਬੱਬ ਹੈ।
The day of the full moon: God alone is Perfect; He is the All-powerful Cause of causes.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ; ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹਥੁ ॥
jeea jant deaal purakh; sabh aoopar jaa kaa hath |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੱਥ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਪਰ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ।
The Lord is kind and compassionate to all beings and creatures; His Protecting Hand is over all.
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰ; ਕੀਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
gun nidhaan gobind gur; keea jaa kaa hoe |
ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟਤਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।
He is the Treasure of Excellence, the Lord of the Universe; through the Guru, He acts.
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ; ਅਲਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸੋਇ ॥
antarajaamee prabh sujaan; alakh niranjan soe |
ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਾ, ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is All-knowing, Unseen and Immaculately Pure.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੋ; ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ॥

ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਬੁਲੰਦ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, is the Knower of all ways and means.
ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ; ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
sant sahaaee saran jog; aatth pehar namasakaar |
ਉਹ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਨਾਹ ਦੇਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
He is the Support of His Saints, with the Power to give Sanctuary. Twenty-four hours a day, I bow in reverence to Him.
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ. ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ; ਸਿਮਰਹੁ. ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥
akath kathaa. neh boojheeai; simarahu. har ke charan |
ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਅਕਹਿ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਜਾਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
His Unspoken Speech cannot be understood; I meditate on the Feet of the Lord.
ਪਤਿਤ. ਉਧਾਰਨ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨ ॥੧੬॥
patit. udhaaran anaath naath; naanak. prabh kee saran |16|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਖਸਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ।
He is the Saving Grace of sinners, the Master of the masterless; Nanak has entered God's Sanctuary. ||16||

ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਹਸਾ ਗਇਓ; ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥

ਜਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਪਕੜੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੌੜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
My pain is gone, and my sorrows have departed, since I took to the Sanctuary of the Lord, my King.
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੭॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਮੇਵੇ ਪਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||17||

ਕੋਈ ਗਾਵੈ. ਕੋ ਸੁਣੈ; ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰੇ, ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਸੁਣੇ, ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਸੋਚੇ ਸਮਝੇ,
Some sing, some listen, and some contemplate;
ਕੋ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ. ਕੋ ਦਿ੍ਰੜੈ; ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
ko upadesai. ko drirrai; tis kaa hoe udhaar |
ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਪਰਚਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤੱਤਪਰ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
some preach, and some implant the Name within; this is how they are saved.
ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ. ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ; ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
kilabikh kaattai. hoe niramalaa; janam janam mal jaae |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਫ ਸੁਥਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਏਗੀ।
Their sinful mistakes are erased, and they become pure; the filth of countless incarnations is washed away.
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲਾ; ਨਹ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ. ਮਾਇ ॥
halat palat mukh aoojalaa; neh pohai tis. maae |
ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗੀ।
In this world and the next, their faces shall be radiant; they shall not be touched by Maya.
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾ. ਸੋ ਬੈਸਨੋ; ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਨਵੰਤੁ ॥
so surataa. so baisano; so giaanee dhanavant |
ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਮਾਸ-ਤਿਆਗੀ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਤੇ ਧਨਾਢ।
They are intuitively wise, and they are Vaishnaavs, worshippers of Vishnu; they are spiritually wise, wealthy and prosperous.
ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਕੁਲਵੰਤੁ ਸੋਇ; ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
so sooraa kulavant soe; jin bhajiaa bhagavant |
ਓਹੀ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਓਹੀ ਉਚੇ ਖਾਨਦਾਨ ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
They are spiritual heros, of noble birth, who vibrate upon the Lord God.
ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਬੈਸੁ; ਉਧਰੈ ਸਿਮਰਿ. ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥
khatree braahaman sood bais; udharai simar. chanddaal |
ਸਿਪਾਹੀ, ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਕ, ਕਮੀਣ, ਜਿਮੀਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਖਿਧ ਜਾਤਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Kh'shatriyas, the Brahmins, the low-caste Soodras, the Vaisha workers and the outcast pariahs are all saved,
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਨਾ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਤਿਸਹਿ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੧੭॥
jin jaanio prabh aapanaa; naanak. tiseh ravaal |17|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
meditating on the Lord. Nanak is the dust of the feet of those who know his God. ||17||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ. ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ; ਜਿਸ ਨੋ. ਸਮਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
satigur purakh. deaal hai; jis no. samat sabh koe |
ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ, ਵੱਡਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਕੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਹਨ।
The True Guru, the Primal Being, is kind and compassionate; all are alike to Him.
ਏਕ ਦਿ੍ਰਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਦਾ; ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਤੇ. ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
ek drisatt kar dekhadaa; man bhaavanee te. sidh hoe |
ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He looks upon all impartially; with pure faith in the mind, He is obtained.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਹੈ; ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ. ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
satigur vich amrit hai; har utam. har pad soe |
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Ambrosial Nectar is within the True Guru; He is exalted and sublime, of Godly status.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ. ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਰਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਵਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, by His Grace, one meditates on the Lord; the Gurmukhs obtain Him. ||1||
