Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ।

One who kills this has no fear.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is absorbed in the Naam.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

One who kills this has his desires quenched.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is approved in the Court of the Lord. ||2||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਮੀਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is wealthy and prosperous.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇੱਜਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is honorable.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਾਮ ਚੇਸ਼ਟਾ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is truly a celibate.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this attains salvation. ||3||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਗਮਨ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

One who kills this - his coming is auspicious.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਤੇ ਧਨਾਢ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is steady and wealthy.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਅਤਿ ਉਤਮ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is very fortunate.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਖ਼ਬਰਦਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this remains awake and aware, night and day. ||4||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is Jivan Mukta, liberated while yet alive.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਗਤੀ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ!

One who kills this lives a pure lifestyle.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੈ।

One who kills this is spiritually wise.

ਜੋ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੈ।

One who kills this meditates intuitively. ||5||

ਇਸ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ,

Without killing this, one is not acceptable,

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਮਕਾਡ, ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਪੱਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਕਰੇ।

Even though one may perform millions of rituals, chants and austerities.

ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮੁਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

Without killing this, one does not escape the cycle of reincarnation.

ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਆਦਮੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚ ਸਕਦਾ।

Without killing this, one does not escape death. ||6||

ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ, ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

Without killing this, one does not obtain spiritual wisdom.

ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਧੋਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।

Without killing this, one's impurity is not washed off.

ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਪੀਲਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without killing this, everything is filthy.

ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ।

Without killing this, everything is a losing game. ||7||

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

When the Lord, the Treasure of Mercy, bestows His Mercy,

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਪੂਰਨਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

one obtains release, and attains total perfection.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਦਵੇਤ-ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,

One whose duality has been killed by the Guru,

ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

says Nanak, contemplates God. ||8||5||

ਗਉੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਦ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਸਦਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, then everyone is his friend.

ਜਦ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, then his consciousness is steady.

ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗ਼ਲਤਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, he is not afflicted by worries.

ਜੇਕਰ ਜੀਵ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, he is emancipated. ||1||

ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ।

O my mind, unite yourself with the Lord.

ਤੇਰੇ ਲਾਭ ਦੀ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸ਼ੈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Nothing else is of any use to you. ||1||Pause||

ਉਚੇ ਤੇ ਵਡੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਬੰਦੇ,

The great and powerful people of the world

ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਹੇ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਇਨਸਾਨ!

are of no use, you fool!

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਨੀਵੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ,

The Lord's slave may be born of humble origins,

ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਛਿੰਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

but in his company, you shall be saved in an instant. ||2||

ਜਿਸ (ਹਰੀ) ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਨਾ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੈ।

Hearing the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is equal to millions of cleansing baths.

ਜਿਸ (ਉਸ) ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹੈ।

Meditating on it is equal to millions of worship ceremonies.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਸ਼੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਨਾ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਨ-ਪੁੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹੈ।

Hearing the Word of the Lord's Bani is equal to giving millions in alms.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਦਾ ਜਾਨਣਾ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾ ਹੀ ਇਨਾਮਾ-ਇਕਰਾਮਾ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੈ।

To know the way, through the Guru, is equal to millions of rewards. ||3||

ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ,

Within your mind, over and over again, think of Him,

ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ।

and your love of Maya shall depart.

ਅਮਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

The Imperishable Lord is always with you.

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾ।

O my mind, immerse yourself in the Love of the Lord. ||4||

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Working for Him, all hunger departs.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਜਮ ਤਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ।

Working for Him, the Messenger of Death will not be watching you.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਰੀ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ।

Working for Him, you shall obtain glorious greatness.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੂੰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

Working for Him, you shall become immortal. ||5||

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।

His servant does not suffer punishment.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੈਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ।

His servant suffers no loss.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਸਥਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟਹਿਲੂਏ ਤੋਂ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।

In His Court, His servant does not have to answer for his account.

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਜਾ ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ!

So serve Him with distinction. ||6||

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

He is not lacking in anything.

ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸਰੂਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਸਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

He Himself is One, although He appears in so many forms.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਰਹੇਗੀ।

By His Glance of Grace, you shall be happy forever.

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਮਾ।

So work for Him, O my mind. ||7||

ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੂਰਖ।

No one is clever, and no one is foolish.

ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਇਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੂਰਮਾ।

No one is weak, and no one is a hero.
