ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O Nanak, all are reduced to dust. ||1||

ਧਧਾ. ਧੂਰਿ ਪੁਨੀਤ; ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨੂਆ ॥

ਧ-ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੋਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
DHADHA: The dust of the feet of the Saints is sacred.
ਧਨਿ ਤੇਊ; ਜਿਹ ਰੁਚ ਇਆ ਮਨੂਆ ॥
dhan teaoo; jih ruch eaa manooaa |
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਹੈ।
Blessed are those whose minds are filled with this longing.
ਧਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਛਹਿ; ਸੁਰਗ ਨ ਆਛਹਿ ॥
dhan nahee baachheh; surag na aachheh |
ਉਹ ਦਰਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੋੜਦੇ।
They do not seek wealth, and they do not desire paradise.
ਅਤਿ ਪਿ੍ਰਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ; ਸਾਧ ਰਜ ਰਾਚਹਿ ॥

ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਮ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਨਾਲ ਫ਼ਰੇਫ਼ਤਾ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
They are immersed in the deep love of their Beloved, and the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਧੰਧੇ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪਹਿ; ਤਾਹੂ ॥

ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ,
How can worldly affairs affect those,
ਜੋ ਏਕ ਛਾਡਿ; ਅਨ ਕਤਹਿ. ਨ ਜਾਹੂ ॥
jo ek chhaadd; an kateh. na jaahoo |
ਜੋ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ?
Who do not abandon the One Lord, and who go nowhere else?
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹੀਐ; ਦੀਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
One whose heart is filled with God's Name,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੪॥

ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
O Nanak, is a perfect spiritual being of God. ||4||

ਅਨਿਕ ਭੇਖ ਅਰੁ ਙਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ; ਮਨਹਠਿ. ਮਿਲਿਅਉ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

ਘਨੇਰੇ ਧਾਰਮਕ-ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ, ਗਿਆਤ, ਇਕਾਗਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।
By all sorts of religious robes, knowledge, meditation and stubborn-mindedness, no one has ever met God.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ. ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ; ਭਗਤੁ ਙਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਬੇਤਾ ਹੈ।
Says Nanak, those upon whom God showers His Mercy, are devotees of spiritual wisdom. ||1||

Pauree:
ਙੰਙਾ; ਙਿਆਨੁ ਨਹੀ. ਮੁਖ ਬਾਤਉ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਮੂੰਹ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
NGANGA: Spiritual wisdom is not obtained by mere words of mouth.
ਅਨਿਕ ਜੁਗਤਿ; ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਤਉ ॥
anik jugat; saasatr kar bhaatau |
ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
It is not obtained through the various debates of the Shaastras and scriptures.
ਙਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਇ; ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਿ੍ਰੜ ਸੋਊ ॥
ngiaanee soe; jaa kai drirr soaoo |
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਬੇਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
They alone are spiritually wise, whose minds are firmly fixed on the Lord.
ਕਹਤ ਸੁਨਤ; ਕਛੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਊ ॥
kehat sunat; kachh jog na hoaoo |
ਆਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੋਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਮੂਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਲਾਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Hearing and telling stories, no one attains Yoga.
ਙਿਆਨੀ ਰਹਤ; ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿ੍ਰੜੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
ngiaanee rehat; aagiaa drirr jaa kai |
ਉਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਤਪਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
They alone are spiritually wise, who remain firmly committed to the Lord's Command.
ਉਸਨ ਸੀਤ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਸਭ; ਤਾ ਕੈ ॥
ausan seet samasar sabh; taa kai |
ਗਰਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੈ।
Heat and cold are all the same to them.
ਙਿਆਨੀ ਤਤੁ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
ngiaanee tat; guramukh beechaaree |
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The true people of spiritual wisdom are the Gurmukhs, who contemplate the essence of reality;
ਨਾਨਕ; ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੫॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਬੇਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the Lord showers His Mercy upon them. ||5||

ਆਵਨ ਆਏ ਸਿ੍ਰਸਟਿ ਮਹਿ; ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ. ਪਸੁ ਢੋਰ ॥
aavan aae srisatt meh; bin boojhe. pas dtor |
ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਸੂਆਂ ਤੇ ਡੰਗਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਨਿੰਦ ਹਨ।
Those who have come into the world without understanding are like animals and beasts.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋ ਬੁਝੈ; ਜਾ ਕੈ ਭਾਗ ਮਥੋਰ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, those who become Gurmukh understand; upon their foreheads is such pre-ordained destiny. ||1||

ਯਾ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ; ਏਕਹਿ ਕਉ ਆਇਆ ॥
yaa jug meh; ekeh kau aaeaa |
ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।
They have come into this world to meditate on the One Lord.
ਜਨਮਤ ਮੋਹਿਓ; ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
janamat mohio; mohanee maaeaa |
ਜੰਮਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੋਹ ਲੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਰੋਫ਼ਤਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
But ever since their birth, they have been enticed by the fascination of Maya.
ਗਰਭ ਕੁੰਟ ਮਹਿ; ਉਰਧ ਤਪ ਕਰਤੇ ॥

ਬੱਚੇਦਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁੱਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਪੱਸਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Upside-down in the chamber of the womb, they performed intense meditation.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ; ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
saas saas; simarat prabh rahate |
ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
They remembered God in meditation with each and every breath.
ਉਰਝਿ ਪਰੇ; ਜੋ ਛੋਡਿ ਛਡਾਨਾ ॥
aurajh pare; jo chhodd chhaddaanaa |
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਲਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਰੂਰ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਪੈਣਾ ਹੈ।
But now, they are entangled in things which they must leave behind.
ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰੁ; ਮਨਹਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਨਾ ॥
devanahaar; maneh bisaraanaa |
ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
They forget the Great Giver from their minds.
ਧਾਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਜਿਸਹਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
dhaarahu kirapaa; jiseh gusaaee |
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਹਿਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
O Nanak, those upon whom the Lord showers His Mercy,
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਨਾਨਕ; ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਸਰਹੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੬॥
eit ut naanak; tis bisarahu naahee |6|
ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
do not forget Him, here or hereafter. ||6||

ਆਵਤ ਹੁਕਮਿ. ਬਿਨਾਸ ਹੁਕਮਿ; ਆਗਿਆ. ਭਿੰਨ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
aavat hukam. binaas hukam; aagiaa. bhin na koe |
ਬੰਦਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
By His Command, we come, and by His Command, we go; no one is beyond His Command.
ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਤਿਹ ਮਿਟੈ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਜਿਹ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
aavan jaanaa tih mittai; naanak. jih man soe |1|
ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
Coming and going in reincarnation is ended, O Nanak, for those whose minds are filled with the Lord. ||1||

ਏਊ ਜੀਅ; ਬਹੁਤੁ ਗ੍ਰਭ ਵਾਸੇ ॥

ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰਹਿਮਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
This soul has lived in many wombs.
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ; ਮੀਠ ਜੋਨਿ ਫਾਸੇ ॥
moh magan; meetth jon faase |
ਮਿੱਠੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਦੀ ਮਸਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਾਥੀ ਰਹੀ।
Enticed by sweet attachment, it has been trapped in reincarnation.
ਇਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ; ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
ein maaeaa; trai gun bas keene |
ਇਸ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲਛਣਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
This Maya has subjugated beings through the three qualities.
ਆਪਨ ਮੋਹ; ਘਟੇ ਘਟਿ ਦੀਨੇ ॥
aapan moh; ghatte ghatt deene |
ਆਪਣੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਹਰ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
Maya has infused attachment to itself in each and every heart.
ਏ ਸਾਜਨ; ਕਛੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
e saajan; kachh kahahu upaaeaa |
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਤਰਕੀਬ ਦੱਸ।
O friend, tell me some way,
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਤਰਉ; ਬਿਖਮ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
jaa te trau; bikham ih maaeaa |
ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਕਠਨ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
by which I may swim across this treacherous ocean of Maya.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
kar kirapaa; satasang milaae |
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਸਤਿ-ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord showers His Mercy, and leads us to join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਤਾ ਕੈ; ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਮਾਏ ॥੭॥
naanak. taa kai; nikatt na maae |7|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੀ।
O Nanak, Maya does not even come near. ||7||

ਕਿਰਤ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਸੁਭ ਅਸੁਭ; ਕੀਨੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ॥
kirat kamaavan subh asubh; keene tin prabh aap |
ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਖੁਦ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
God Himself causes one to perform good and bad actions.
ਪਸੁ. ਆਪਨ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰੈ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ, ਕਹਾ ਕਮਾਤਿ ॥੧॥
pas. aapan hau hau karai; naanak. bin har, kahaa kamaat |1|
ਡੰਗਰ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਰੂਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
The beast indulges in egotism, selfishness and conceit; O Nanak, without the Lord, what can anyone do? ||1||

ਕੇਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The One Lord Himself is the Cause of all actions.
ਆਪਹਿ; ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥
aapeh; paap pun bisathaaraa |
ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਦੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਫੈਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself distributes sins and noble acts.
ਇਆ ਜੁਗ; ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਲਾਇਓ ॥
eaa jug; jit jit aapeh laaeo |
ਇਸ ਯੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੂੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਦ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
In this age, people are attached as the Lord attaches them.
ਸੋ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਓ; ਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਇਓ ॥

ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਛ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਹਰੀ ਆਪੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
They receive that which the Lord Himself gives.
ਉਆ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ; ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਊ ॥
auaa kaa ant; na jaanai koaoo |
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਓੜਕ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
No one knows His limits.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰੈ; ਸੋਊ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਊ ॥
jo jo karai; soaoo fun hoaoo |
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਖਰਕਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whatever He does, comes to pass.
ਏਕਹਿ ਤੇ; ਸਗਲਾ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥
ekeh te; sagalaa bisathaaraa |
ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
From the One, the entire expanse of the Universe emanated.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੮॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਸਾਈਂ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਧਰਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, He Himself is our Saving Grace. ||8||

ਰਾਚਿ ਰਹੇ. ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੋਦ; ਕੁਸਮ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਖ ਸੋਰ ॥
raach rahe. banitaa binod; kusam rang bikh sor |
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਤ੍ਰੀਮਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ-ਦਾਇਕ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ਼ਲਤਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੋਰ-ਸ਼ਰਾਬਾ ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੀ ਭਾਅ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ।
Man remains engrossed in women and playful pleasures; the tumult of his passion is like the dye of the safflower, which fades away all too soon.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰਉ; ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਮੈ ਮੋਰ ॥੧॥
naanak tih saranee prau; binas jaae mai mor |1|
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਪਣੱਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
O Nanak, seek God's Sanctuary, and your selfishness and conceit shall be taken away. ||1||
