ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਵਿਰਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜ਼ੰਜੀਰਾਂ ਪੈਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

O mind: without the Lord, whatever you are involved in shall bind you in chains.

ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਐਨ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।

The faithless cynic does those deeds which will never allow him to be emancipated.

ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸ਼ਕ ਜੋ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਅਸਹਿ ਬੋਝ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Acting in egotism, selfishness and conceit, the lovers of rituals carry the unbearable load.

ਜਦ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤਦ ਇਹ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਪਾਪ ਭਰੇ ਹਨ।

When there is no love for the Naam, then these rituals are corrupt.

ਜੋ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਰੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਕੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

The rope of death binds those who are in love with the sweet taste of Maya.

ਵਹਿਮ ਦੇ ਬਹਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

Deluded by doubt, they do not understand that God is always with them.

ਜਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੱਤਾ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ। ਕੱਚੀ ਕੰਧ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।

When their accounts are called for, they shall not be released; their wall of mud cannot be washed clean.

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੋਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who is made to understand - O Nanak, that Gurmukh obtains immaculate understanding. ||9||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਕਟੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ।

One whose bonds are cut away joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਜੋ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਤੇ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਰੰਗਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Those who are imbued with the Love of the One Lord, O Nanak, take on the deep and lasting color of His Love. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਰ-ਇਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗ।

RARRA: Dye this heart of yours in the color of the Lord's Love.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਰੰਬਾਰ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।

Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har - chant it with your tongue.

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਲਾਏਗਾ।

In the Court of the Lord, no one shall speak harshly to you.

ਸਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਓ-ਭਗਤ ਕਰਨਗੇ, "ਆਓ ਜੀ, ਬੈਠੋ।"

Everyone shall welcome you, saying, "Come, and sit down."

ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।

In that Mansion of the Lord's Presence, you shall find a home.

ਉਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼, ਮੌਤ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

There is no birth or death, or destruction there.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,

One who has such karma written on his forehead,

ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

O Nanak, has the wealth of the Lord in his home. ||10||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਲੋਭ, ਕੂੜ, ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ, ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਚਿਮੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

Greed, falsehood, corruption and emotional attachment entangle the blind and the foolish.

ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੇ ਨਰੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਮੰਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Bound down by Maya, O Nanak, a foul odor clings to them. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਲ-ਇਨਸਾਨ ਪਾਪ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਾਬੇ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

LALLA: People are entangled in the love of corrupt pleasures;

ਉਹ ਅੰਹਕਾਰ-ਮਤੀ ਅਕਲ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਨਾਲ ਗੁੱਟ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

they are drunk with the wine of egotistical intellect and Maya.

ਇਸ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In this Maya, they are born and die.

ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

People act according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command.

ਕੋਈ ਨਾਂ-ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਨਹੀਂ।

No one is perfect, and no one is imperfect.

ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਖ,

No one is wise, and no one is foolish.

ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Wherever the Lord engages someone, there he is engaged.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਟੰਕ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, our Lord and Master is forever detached. ||11||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਲਮ ਦਾ ਰੱਖਿਅਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ, ਮਾਲਕ, ਡੂੰਘਾ ਧੀਰਜਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਓੜਕ ਹੈ।

My Beloved God, the Sustainer of the World, the Lord of the Universe, is deep, profound and unfathomable.

ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ। ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਬੇਮੁਥਾਜ ਹੈ।

There is no other like Him; O Nanak, He is not worried. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਲ-ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

LALLA: There is no one equal to Him.

ਉਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

He Himself is the One; there shall never be any other.

ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।

He is now, He has been, and He shall always be.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਓੜਕ, ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ।

No one has ever found His limit.

ਇਕ ਕੀੜੀ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਹਾਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

In the ant and in the elephant, He is totally pervading.

ਕੀਰਤੀਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਘਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord, the Primal Being, is known by everyone everywhere.

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ,

That one, unto whom the Lord has given His Love

ਉਹ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

- O Nanak, that Gurmukh chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||12||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who knows the taste of the Lord's sublime essence, intuitively enjoys the Lord's Love.

ਮੁਬਾਰਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਗੁਮਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਤੇ ਮਕਬੂਲ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗਮਨ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

O Nanak, blessed, blessed, blessed are the Lord's humble servants; how fortunate is their coming into the world! ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਗਮਨ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

How fruitful is the coming into the world, of those

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

whose tongues celebrate the Praises of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਉਹ ਆ ਕੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

They come and dwell with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;

ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ, ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ, ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

night and day, they lovingly meditate on the Naam.

ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,

Blessed is the birth of those humble beings who are attuned to the Naam;

ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦੇ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਅਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਹੈ।

the Lord, the Architect of Destiny, bestows His Kind Mercy upon them.

ਉਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੂਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ।

They are born only once - they shall not be reincarnated again.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||13||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Chanting it, the mind is filled with bliss; love of duality is eliminated, and pain, distress and desires are quenched.

ਅਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ; ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ।

O Nanak, immerse yourself in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
