ਅੰਤਰਿ. ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ; ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
antar. har guroo dhiaaeidaa; vaddee vaddiaaee |
ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Great is the greatness of the Guru, who meditates on the Lord within.
ਤੁਸਿ ਦਿਤੀ. ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ; ਘਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ. ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ, ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਘਟਾਈ ॥

ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਘੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
By His Pleasure, the Lord has bestowed this upon the Perfect True Guru; it is not diminished one bit by anyone's efforts.
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਵਲਿ ਹੈ; ਤਾਂ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਮਰੈ, ਸਭ ਲੁੋਕਾਈ ॥
sach saahib. satiguroo kai val hai; taan jhakh jhakh marai, sabh luokaaee |
ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਹਨ, ਖੱਪ ਖੱਪ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The True Lord and Master is on the side of the True Guru; and so, all those who oppose Him waste away to death in anger, envy and conflict.
ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਕੇ ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਕਰੇ; ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥
nindakaa ke muh kaale kare; har karatai aap vadhaaee |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਬਦਖੋਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਸਿਆਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਤਾ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord, the Creator, blackens the faces of the slanderers, and increases the glory of the Guru.
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਨਿੰਦਕ. ਨਿੰਦ ਕਰਹਿ; ਤਿਉ ਤਿਉ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ. ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥
jiau jiau nindak. nind kareh; tiau tiau nit nit. charrai savaaee |
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਲੰਕ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਲੰਕ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸੇ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਰੋਜ਼-ਬ-ਰੋਜ਼ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
As the slanderers spread their slander, so does the Guru's glory increase day by day.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ. ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ; ਤਿਨਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਣਿ ਸਭ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥

ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀ ਪਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
Servant Nanak worships the Lord, who makes everyone fall at His Feet. ||1||

ਚੋਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Fourth Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਗਣਤ ਜਿ ਰਖੈ; ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗਇਆ ॥
satigur setee ganat ji rakhai; halat palat sabh tis kaa geaa |
ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਮਿਣਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਗੁਆ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who enters into a calculated relationship with the True Guru loses everything, this world and the next.
ਨਿਤ ਝਹੀਆ ਪਾਏ. ਝਗੂ ਸੁਟੇ; ਝਖਦਾ ਝਖਦਾ ਝੜਿ ਪਇਆ ॥
nit jhaheea paae. jhagoo sutte; jhakhadaa jhakhadaa jharr peaa |
ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦੰਦ ਪੀਹਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਝੱਗ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਕਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਮਰ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He grinds his teeth continually and foams at the mouth; screaming in anger, he perishes.
ਨਿਤ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ; ਅਗਲਾ ਧਨੁ ਭੀ ਉਡਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
nit upaav karai maaeaa dhan kaaran; agalaa dhan bhee udd geaa |
ਦੌਲਤ ਤੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਹੀ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭੀ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He continually chases after Maya and wealth, but even his own wealth flies away.
ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਖਟੇ. ਕਿਆ ਓਹੁ ਖਾਵੈ; ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ. ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਇਆ ॥

ਉਹ ਕੀ ਕਮਾਏਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੀ ਖਾਏਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਿਕਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਹੈ।
What shall he earn, and what shall he eat? Within his heart, there is only cynicism and pain.
ਨਿਰਵੈਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ. ਜਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਰਚਾਏ; ਸਭੁ ਪਾਪੁ ਜਗਤੈ ਕਾ. ਤਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
niravairai naal. ji vair rachaae; sabh paap jagatai kaa. tin sir leaa |
ਜੋ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਰਹਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਹਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who hates the One who has no hatred, shall bear the load of all the sins of the world on his head.
ਓਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ. ਢੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ; ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ. ਮੁਹਿ ਅੰਬੁ ਪਇਆ ॥
os agai pichhai. dtoee naahee; jis andar nindaa. muhi anb peaa |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਬਦਖੋਈ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਧੁਖ ਉਠਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੋਈ ਪਨਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।
He shall find no shelter here or hereafter; his mouth blisters with the slander in his heart.
ਜੇ ਸੁਇਨੇ ਨੋ ਓਹੁ ਹਥੁ ਪਾਏ; ਤਾ ਖੇਹੂ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਲਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
je sueine no ohu hath paae; taa khehoo setee ral geaa |
ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਸੋਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਪਾਵੇ ਤਦ ਇਹ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
If gold comes into his hands, it turns to dust.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ. ਫਿਰਿ ਓਹੁ ਆਵੈ; ਤਾ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਉਗਣ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
je gur kee saranee. fir ohu aavai; taa pichhale aaugan bakhas leaa |
ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈ ਲਵੇ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਾਫ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
But if he should come again to the Sanctuary of the Guru, then even his past sins shall be forgiven.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ; ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ. ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਗਇਆ ॥੨॥

ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ, ਨੌਕਰ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਪ੍ਰਾਧ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Servant Nanak meditates on the Naam, night and day. Remembering the Lord in meditation, wickedness and sins are erased. ||2||

ਤੂਹੈ ਸਚਾ, ਸਚੁ ਤੂ; ਸਭ ਦੂ ਉਪਰਿ. ਤੂ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
toohai sachaa, sach too; sabh doo upar. too deebaan |
ਤੂੰ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੈ!
You are the Truest of the True; Your Regal Court is the most exalted of all.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ; ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ. ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
jo tudh sach dhiaaeide; sach sevan. sache teraa maan |
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਯੋਗ ਫਖਰ ਹੈ।
Those who meditate on You, O True Lord, serve the Truth; O True Lord, they take pride in You.
ਓਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ. ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ; ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲਨਿ, ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
onaa andar sach. mukh ujale; sach bolan, sache teraa taan |
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਹੈਂ।
Within them is the Truth; their faces are radiant, and they speak the Truth. O True Lord, You are their strength.
ਸੇ ਭਗਤ. ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਆ; ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
se bhagat. jinee guramukh saalaahiaa; sach sabad neesaan |
ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਝੰਡਾ ਹੈ।
Those who, as Gurmukh, praise You are Your devotees; they have the insignia and the banner of the Shabad, the True Word of God.
ਸਚੁ ਜਿ ਸਚੇ ਸੇਵਦੇ; ਤਿਨ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੧੩॥
sach ji sache sevade; tin vaaree sad kurabaan |13|
ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am truly a sacrifice, forever devoted to those who serve the True Lord. ||13||
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੪ ॥

ਸਲੋਕ ਚੋਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Salok, Fourth Mehl:
ਧੁਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ; ਸੇਈ ਹੁਣਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
dhur maare poorai satiguroo; seee hun satigur maare |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਧਿਰਕਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ।
Those who were cursed by the Perfect True Guru, from the very beginning, are even now cursed by the True Guru.
ਜੇ ਮੇਲਣ ਨੋ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ; ਨ ਦੇਈ ਮਿਲਣ. ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
je melan no bahuteraa locheeai; na deee milan. karataare |
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਕਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਚਾਹੁਣ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।
Even though they may have a great longing to associate with the Guru, the Creator does not allow it.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਢੋਈ. ਨਾ ਲਹਨਿ; ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
satasangat dtoee. naa lehan; vich sangat gur veechaare |
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਨਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ। ਸੰਤ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਏਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਾਇ ਪਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
They shall not find shelter in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; in the Sangat, the Guru has proclaimed this.
ਕੋਈ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਹੁਣਿ ਓਨਾ ਨੋ; ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮੁ ਜੰਦਾਰੇ ॥
koee jaae milai hun onaa no; tis maare jam jandaare |
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਹੁਣ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਦਈ ਦੂਤ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whoever goes out to meet them now, will be destroyed by the tyrant, the Messenger of Death.
ਗੁਰਿ ਬਾਬੈ ਫਿਟਕੇ. ਸੇ ਫਿਟੇ; ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਗਦਿ. ਕੀਤੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥

ਜੋ ਆਦਿ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਿਰਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਝੂਠੇ ਕਰਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਤਾ।
Those who were condemned by Guru Nanak were declared counterfeit by Guru Angad as well.
ਗੁਰਿ. ਤੀਜੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ; ਕਿਆ ਹਥਿ ਏਨਾ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ॥

ਤੀਸਰੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੈ?
The Guru of the third generation thought, "What lies in the hands of these poor people?"
ਗੁਰੁ ਚਉਥੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ; ਤਿਨਿ. ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
gur chauthee peerree ttikiaa; tin. nindak dusatt sabh taare |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੋਥੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਕੱਰਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੰਕ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਕੁਕਰਮੀ ਬਚਾ ਲਏ।
The Guru of the fourth generation saved all these slanderers and evil-doers.
ਕੋਈ ਪੁਤੁ ਸਿਖੁ. ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ; ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
koee put sikh. sevaa kare satiguroo kee; tis kaaraj sabh savaare |
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਜਾ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਮਾਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਰਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
If any son or Sikh serves the True Guru, then all of his affairs will be resolved.
ਜੋ ਇਛੈ. ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਸੀ; ਪੁਤੁ ਧਨੁ ਲਖਮੀ; ਖੜਿ ਮੇਲੇ. ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥

ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ, ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਲੋੜੀਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He obtains the fruits of his desires - children, wealth, property, union with the Lord and emancipation.
ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚਿ; ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
sabh nidhaan satiguroo vich; jis andar har ur dhaare |
ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਸੰਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਤਮੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
All treasures are in the True Guru, who has enshrined the Lord within the heart.
ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ; ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਲਿਲਾਰੇ ॥
so paae pooraa satiguroo; jis likhiaa likhat lilaare |
ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
He alone obtains the Perfect True Guru, on whose forehead such blessed destiny is pre-ordained.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ. ਮਾਗੈ ਧੂੜਿ ਤਿਨ; ਜੋ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਮਿਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥

ਬਾਂਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਠੱੜੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of those GurSikhs who love the Lord, their Friend. ||1||
