ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ; ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ. ਗੁਰੂ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
jis no deaal hovai meraa suaamee; tis gurasikh. guroo upades sunaavai |
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
That person, unto whom my Lord and Master is kind and compassionate - upon that GurSikh, the Guru's Teachings are bestowed.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ. ਧੂੜਿ ਮੰਗੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਕੀ; ਜੋ ਆਪਿ ਜਪੈ. ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥

ਨੋਕਰ ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਖ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਖੁਦ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of that GurSikh, who himself chants the Naam, and inspires others to chant it. ||2||

ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਘਟ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
Those who meditate on You, O True Lord - they are very rare.
ਜੋ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ. ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਦੇ ਤਿਨ; ਕੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ. ਖਾਹਿ ਅਸੰਖ ਕਰੋੜੇ ॥

ਜੋ ਮਨੋਂ ਤੇ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਦੌਲਤ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who worship and adore the One Lord in their conscious minds - through their generosity, countless millions are fed.
ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਸਭ ਧਿਆਇਦੀ; ਸੇ ਥਾਇ ਪਏ. ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਲੋੜੇ ॥

ਸਾਰੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
All meditate on You, but they alone are accepted, who are pleasing to their Lord and Master.
ਜੋ. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ. ਖਾਦੇ ਪੈਨਦੇ; ਸੇ ਮੁਏ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੇ ਕੋੜ੍ਹੇ ॥

ਕੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਛਕਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਰਨ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਆਵਾਗਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who eat and dress without serving the True Guru die; after death, those wretched lepers are consigned to reincarnation.
ਓਇ. ਹਾਜਰੁ ਮਿਠਾ ਬੋਲਦੇ; ਬਾਹਰਿ ਵਿਸੁ ਕਢਹਿ. ਮੁਖਿ ਘੋਲੇ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਬਰੂ ਉਹ ਮਿੱਠੜੇ ਬਚਨ ਅਲਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਪਿਛੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਘੁਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਉਗਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
In His Sublime Presence, they talk sweetly, but behind His back, they exude poison from their mouths.
ਮਨਿ ਖੋਟੇ; ਦਯਿ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ॥੧੧॥

ਮੰਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੁਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The evil-minded are consigned to separation from the Lord. ||11||

ਮਲੁ ਜੂਈ ਭਰਿਆ. ਨੀਲਾ ਕਾਲਾ ਖਿਧੋਲੜਾ; ਤਿਨਿ ਵੇਮੁਖਿ. ਵੇਮੁਖੈ ਨੋ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

ਉਸ ਅਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਮਰਵਾਹੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਹੀਣ ਨੋਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਤੇ ਜੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਤ ਨੀਲੀ ਤੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਖਫਣੀ ਪੁਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
The faithless baymukh sent out his faithless servant, wearing a blue-black coat, filled with filth and vermin.
ਪਾਸਿ. ਨ ਦੇਈ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਣਿ, ਜਗਤ ਮਹਿ; ਗੂਹ ਪੜਿ, ਸਗਵੀ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਇ, ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
paas. na deee koee behan, jagat meh; gooh parr, sagavee mal laae, manamukh aaeaa |
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਬਹਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਗੋਂ ਵਧੇਰੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਬੇੜ ਕੇ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
No one in the world will sit near him; the self-willed manmukh fell into manure, and returned with even more filth covering him.
ਪਰਾਈ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਚੁਗਲੀ ਨੋ, ਵੇਮੁਖੁ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਭੇਜਿਆ; ਓਥੈ ਭੀ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ, ਦੁਹਾ ਵੇਮੁਖਾ ਦਾ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
paraaee jo nindaa chugalee no, vemukh kar kai bhejiaa; othai bhee muhu kaalaa, duhaa vemukhaa daa karaaeaa |
ਅਧਰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਲੰਕਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਠ ਪਿਛੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਘੱਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਓਥੇ ਭੀ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ।
The faithless baymukh was sent to slander and back-bite others, but when he went there, the faces of both he and his faithless master were blackened instead.
ਤੜ ਸੁਣਿਆ. ਸਭਤੁ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚਿ ਭਾਈ; ਵੇਮੁਖੁ. ਸਣੈ ਨਫਰੈ ਪਉਲੀ ਪਉਦੀ; ਫਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ, ਉਠਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
tarr suniaa. sabhat jagat vich bhaaee; vemukh. sanai nafarai paulee paudee; faavaa hoe kai, utth ghar aaeaa |
ਤੁਰਤ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਜ ਗਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਓ, ਕਿ ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮੇਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਦੇ ਛਿਤੱਰਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਡੌਰ ਭੌਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਉਹ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਆਏ।
It was immediately heard throughout the whole world, O Siblings of Destiny, that this faithless man, along with his servant, was kicked and beaten with shoes; in humiliation, they got up and returned to their homes.
ਅਗੈ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਕੁੜਮੀ. ਵੇਮੁਖੁ ਰਲਣਾ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ; ਤਾ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਭਤੀਜਂੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਣਿ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

ਅਗੋਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦਾ ਸਭਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਹੁਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਜੋਲ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮਕਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿਤਾ।
The faithless baymukh was not allowed to mingle with others; his wife and niece then brought him home to lie down.
ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਦੋਵੈ ਗਏ; ਨਿਤ ਭੁਖਾ ਕੂਕੇ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ॥
halat palat dovai ge; nit bhukhaa kooke tihaaeaa |
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਦੋਨੋ ਹੀ ਗੁਆ ਲਏ ਹਨ। ਭੁੱਖਾ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He has lost both this world and the next; he cries out continually, in hunger and thirst.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨਿ ਨਿਆਉ ਸਚੁ. ਬਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
dhan dhan suaamee karataa purakh hai; jin niaau sach. beh aap karaaeaa |
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹੈ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਦੇ ਆਸਣ ਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਖੁਦ ਅਸਲੀ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
Blessed, blessed is the Creator, the Primal Being, our Lord and Master; He Himself sits and dispenses true justice.
ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ; ਸੋ ਸਾਚੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਚਾਇਆ ॥
jo nindaa kare satigur poore kee; so saachai maar pachaaeaa |
ਜੋ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਦਖੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who slanders the Perfect True Guru is punished and destroyed by the True Lord.
ਏਹੁ ਅਖਰੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਆਖਿਆ; ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
ehu akhar tin aakhiaa; jin jagat sabh upaaeaa |1|
ਇਹ ਬਚਨ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
This Word is spoken by the One who created the whole universe. ||1||

ਚੋਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Fourth Mehl:
ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ. ਨੰਗਾ ਭੁਖਾ ਹੋਵੈ; ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਫਰੁ. ਕਿਥਹੁ ਰਜਿ ਖਾਏ ॥
saahib jis kaa. nangaa bhukhaa hovai; tis daa nafar. kithahu raj khaae |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਢਿੱਡ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who has a poor beggar for a master - how can he be well-fed?
ਜਿ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਥੁ ਹੋਵੈ, ਸੁ ਨਫਰੈ ਹਥਿ ਆਵੈ; ਅਣਹੋਦੀ ਕਿਥਹੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
ji saahib kai ghar vath hovai, su nafarai hath aavai; anahodee kithahu paae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨੌਕਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੇ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਕਿਥੋ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
If there is something in his master's house, he can get it; but how can he get what is not there?
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ. ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ; ਸਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਉਖੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
jis dee sevaa keetee. fir lekhaa mangeeai; saa sevaa aaukhee hoee |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੁੜ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘਾਲ ਨਿਰਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੈ?
Serving him, who will be called to answer for his account? That service is painful and useless.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹੁ. ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ; ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੈ. ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਤਲਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
O Nanak, serve the Guru, the Lord Incarnate; the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is profitable, and in the end, you shall not be called to account. ||2||

ਨਾਨਕ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ; ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਕਹੰਦੇ ॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਧਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
O Nanak, the Saints consider, and the four Vedas proclaim,
ਭਗਤ ਮੁਖੈ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦੇ; ਸੇ ਵਚਨ ਹੋਵੰਦੇ ॥
bhagat mukhai te bolade; se vachan hovande |
ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੰਤ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
that whatever the Lord's devotees utter with their mouths, shall come to pass.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪਹਾਰਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ; ਸਭਿ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣੰਦੇ ॥
pragatt pahaaraa jaapadaa; sabh lok sunande |
ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਰਖਾਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਾਹਰਾ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
He is manifest in His cosmic workshop. All people hear of this.
ਸੁਖੁ. ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਨਰ; ਸੰਤ ਨਾਲਿ ਖਹੰਦੇ ॥
sukh. na paaein mugadh nar; sant naal khahande |
ਬੁਧੂ ਬੰਦੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਖਹਿਬੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ।
The stubborn men who fight with the Saints shall never find peace.
ਓਇ ਲੋਚਨਿ. ਓਨਾ ਗੁਣੈ ਨੋ; ਓਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਸੜੰਦੇ ॥
oe lochan. onaa gunai no; oe ahankaar sarrande |
ਉਹ (ਸਾਧੂ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਲੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Saints seek to bless them with virtue, but they only burn in their egos.
ਓਇ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ; ਜਾ ਭਾਗ ਧੁਰਿ ਮੰਦੇ ॥
oe vichaare kiaa kareh; jaa bhaag dhur mande |
ਉਹ ਨਿਕਰਮਣ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਚੂੰਕਿ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਮਾੜੀ ਹੈ?
What can those wretched ones do, since, from the very beginning, their destiny is cursed with evil.
ਜੋ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ; ਸੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਸੰਦੇ ॥
jo maare tin paarabraham; se kisai na sande |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਨਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ।
Those who are struck down by the Supreme Lord God are of no use to anyone.
ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਾਲਿ; ਧਰਮ ਨਿਆਇ ਪਚੰਦੇ ॥
vair kareh niravair naal; dharam niaae pachande |
ਇਹ ਅਸਲ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣੇ ਉਚਿੱਤ ਹਨ।
Those who hate the One who has no hatred - according to the true justice of Dharma, they shall perish.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੰਤਿ ਸਰਾਪਿਆ; ਸੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥
jo jo sant saraapiaa; se fireh bhavande |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧੂਆ ਨੇ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who are cursed by the Saints will continue wandering aimlessly.
ਪੇਡੁ ਮੁੰਢਾਹੂੰ ਕਟਿਆ; ਤਿਸੁ ਡਾਲ ਸੁਕੰਦੇ ॥੧੨॥

ਜਦ ਬਿਰਛ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
When the tree is cut off at its roots, the branches wither and die. ||12||
