Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ! ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

You, O Creator, know everything which occurs within our beings.

ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਗਿਣਤੀ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰਾ ਜਹਾਨ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਮਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

You Yourself, O Creator, are incalculable, while the entire world is within the realm of calculation.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਹੈ।

Everything happens according to Your Will; You created all.

ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਸਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

You are the One, pervading in each and every heart; O True Lord and Master, this is Your play.

ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੋੜਦਾ।

One who meets the True Guru meets the Lord; no one can turn him away. ||24||

ਸਲੋਕ ਚੋਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Salok, Fourth Mehl:

ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਥਿਰ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਤੇ ਕੇਦ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਰ।

Hold this mind steady and stable; become Gurmukh and focus your consciousness.

ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਪਲੋਤਿਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਸ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਭੁਲਾਈਏ?

How could you ever forget Him, with each breath and morsel of food, sitting down or standing up?

ਹੁਣ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਰਨ ਜੰਮਣ ਦਾ ਫਿਕਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

My anxiety about birth and death has ended; this soul is under the control of the Lord God.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ।

If it pleases You, then save servant Nanak, and bless him with Your Name. ||1||

ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Third Mehl:

ਮਗਰੂਰ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ। ਉਹ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਇਧਰ ਜਾ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਉਧਰ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The egotistical, self-willed manmukh does not know the Mansion of the Lord's Presence; one moment he is here, and the next moment he is there.

ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੱਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਹੋਏਗਾ?

He is always invited, but he does not go to the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. How shall he be accepted in the Court of the Lord?

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਵਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੱਥ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਖੜਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

How rare are those who know the Mansion of the True Guru; they stand with their palms pressed together.

ਨਾਨਕ, ਜੇਕਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌੜ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

If my Lord grants His Grace, O Nanak, He restores them to Himself. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਫਲਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਘਾਲ ਦਾ ਕਮਾਉਣਾ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Fruitful and rewarding is that service, which is pleasing to the Guru's Mind.

ਜਦ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ-ਅਮਲ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

When the Mind of the True Guru is pleased, then sins and misdeeds run away.

ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸਿੱਖ-ਮਤ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਿੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Sikhs listen to the Teachings imparted by the True Guru.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਜਾ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਗੁਣਾ (ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ) ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who surrender to the True Guru's Will are imbued with the four-fold Love of the Lord.

ਸੱਚੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਹੁ ਰੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਰਫੁਲਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

This is the unique and distinct life-style of the Gurmukhs: listening to the Guru's Teachings, their minds blossom forth. ||25||

ਸਲੋਕ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Salok, Third Mehl:

ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਨਕਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਜਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।

Those who do not affirm their Guru shall have no home or place of rest.

ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਉਹ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਹੀ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।

They lose both this world and the next; they have no place in the Court of the Lord.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮੌਕਾ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਾ।

This opportunity to bow at the Feet of the True Guru shall never come again.

ਜੇਕਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣੋ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੜੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਜਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

If they miss out on being counted by the True Guru, they shall pass their lives in pain and misery.

ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

The True Guru, the Primal Being, has no hatred or vengeance; He unites with Himself those with whom He is pleased.

ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਵਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, those who behold the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, are emancipated in the Court of the Lord. ||1||

ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Third Mehl:

ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਆਤਮਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਖੋਟੀ ਬਧ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਗਰੂਰ ਹੈ।

The self-willed manmukh is ignorant, evil-minded and egotistical.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੋਹ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਾਨੋ ਜੂਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਗੁਆ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

He is filled with anger within, and he loses his mind in the gamble.

ਉਹ ਝੂਠ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He commits the sins of fraud and unrighteousness.

ਉਹ ਕੀ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੀ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

What can he hear, and what can he tell others?

ਉਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਡੋਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਹੋਂ ਘੁਸ ਕੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

He is blind and deaf; he loses his way, and wanders lost in the wilderness.

ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The blind, self-willed manmukh comes and goes in reincarnation;

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।

without meeting the True Guru, he finds no place of rest.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹ ਧੁਰ ਦੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, he acts according to his pre-ordained destiny. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਸਖਤ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਹਿੰਦੇ।

Those who have hearts as hard as stone, do not sit near the True Guru.

ਉਥੇ ਸੱਚ ਪਰਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਨਿੰਮੋਝੁਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Truth prevails there; the false ones do not attune their consciousness to it.

ਉਹ ਹੇਰਾਫੇਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਕਤ ਗੁਜਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਝੂਠਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

By hook or by crook, they pass their time, and then they go back to sit with the false ones again.

ਸੱਚ ਅੰਦਰ ਝੂਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਣਯ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੇਖ ਲੈ।

Falsehood does not mix with the Truth; O people, check it out and see.

ਝੂਠੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਝੁਠਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੱਚੇ ਸਿੱਖ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

The false go and mingle with the false, while the truthful Sikhs sit by the side of the True Guru. ||26||
