ਕੀਹਦਾ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ? ਕੀਹਦਾ ਪਿਓ ਹੈ?

Whose son is he? Whose father is he?

ਕੌਣ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕਿਹੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ?

Who dies? Who inflicts pain? ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੁਭਾਉਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

The Lord is the thug, who has drugged and robbed the whole world.

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਅੰਮੜੀਏ, ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਉਂਦੀ ਰਹਾਂਗੀ? ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

I am separated from the Lord; how can I survive, O my mother? ||1||Pause||

ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਹੈ? ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੈ?

Whose husband is he? Whose wife is she?

ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਕਰ।

Contemplate this reality within your body. ||2||

ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਲੁਭਾਉਣਹਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਹੁਣ ਰੀਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Says Kabeer, my mind is pleased and satisfied with the thug.

ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਭਰਮ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

The effects of the drug have vanished, since I recognized the thug. ||3||39||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Now, the Lord, my King, has become my help and support.

ਆਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਟ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

I have cut away birth and death, and attained the supreme status. ||1||Pause||

ਉਸ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

He has united me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਪੰਜਾਂ ਭੁਤਨਿਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ ਛੁਡਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

He has rescued me from the five demons.

ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨਾਮ ਇੱਕ ਰਸ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I chant with my tongue and meditate on the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਸਾਈਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਿਨਾ ਦਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

He has made me his own slave. ||1||

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਅਹਿਸਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

The True Guru has blessed me with His generosity.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

He has lifted me up, out of the world-ocean.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਪੈਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

I have fallen in love with His Lotus Feet.

ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord of the Universe dwells continually within my consciousness. ||2||

ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਮਚਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੋਲਾ ਬੁਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The burning fire of Maya has been extinguished.

ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਜ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

My mind is contented with the Support of the Naam.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

God, the Lord and Master, is totally permeating the water and the land.

ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਥੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

Wherever I look, there is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||3||

ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself has implanted His devotional worship within me.

ਪੂਰਬਲੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

By pre-ordained destiny, one meets Him, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਨਾਵਟ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

When He grants His Grace, one is perfectly fulfilled.

ਕਬੀਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ, ਕੰਗਾਲਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

Kabeer's Lord and Master is the Cherisher of the poor. ||4||40||

ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹੈ।

There is pollution in the water, and pollution on the land; whatever is born is polluted.

ਜਨਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਮਰਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਿਆਇਆ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਨੇ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਛੱਡੀ ਹੈ।

There is pollution in birth, and more pollution in death; all beings are ruined by pollution. ||1||

ਦੱਸ ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਕੌਣ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ?

Tell me, O Pandit, O religious scholar: who is clean and pure?

ਐਸੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ! ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Meditate on such spiritual wisdom, O my friend. ||1||Pause||

ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਹੈ। ਬਚਨ-ਬਿਲਾਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਹੈ।

There is pollution in the eyes, and pollution in speech; there is pollution in the ears as well.

ਉਠਦਿਆਂ, ਬਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਲੀਨਤਾ ਚਿਮੜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਲੀਨਤਾ ਲੰਗਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਆ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Standing up and sitting down, one is polluted; one's kitchen is polluted as well. ||2||

ਫਾਥੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਅੱਧ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

Everyone knows how to be caught, but hardly anyone knows how to escape.

ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੀ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Says Kabeer, those who meditate on the Lord within their hearts, are not polluted. ||3||41||

ਗਉੜੀ।

Gauree:

ਇਕ ਬਖੇੜੇ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ,

Resolve this one conflict for me, O Lord,

ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਲੈਣੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

if you require any work from Your humble servant. ||1||Pause||

ਕੀ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਹਿਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ?

Is this mind greater, or the One to whom the mind is attuned?

ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ?

Is the Lord greater, or one who knows the Lord? ||1||

ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?

Is Brahma greater, or the One who created Him?

ਵੇਦ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਜਿਥੇ ਇਹ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ?

Are the Vedas greater, or the One from which they came? ||2||

ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੋਕਵਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ,

Says Kabeer, I have become depressed;

ਯਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਜਾ ਕਿ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨੌਕਰ?

is the sacred shrine of pilgrimage greater, or the slave of the Lord? ||3||42||

ਰਾਗ ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ।

Raag Gauree Chaytee:

ਵੇਖ ਭਰਾਓ! ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰੀ ਆਈ ਹੈ।

Behold, O Siblings of Destiny, the storm of spiritual wisdom has come.

ਇਸ ਵਹਿਮ ਦੇ ਛਪਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਡਾ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੱਕ ਭੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

It has totally blown away the thatched huts of doubt, and torn apart the bonds of Maya. ||1||Pause||

ਦੁਚਿਤੇ-ਪਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਥਮਲੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਤੀਰ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The two pillars of double-mindedness have fallen, and the beams of emotional attachment have come crashing down.

ਲਾਲਚ ਦੇ ਕੱਖਾ ਦੀ ਛੱਤ ਜਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਬਰਤਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The thatched roof of greed has caved in, and the pitcher of evil-mindedness has been broken. ||1||
