Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਰਾਗ ਆਸਾ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ। ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Raag Aasaa, Eighth House, Kaafee, Fourth Mehl:

ਐਨ ਆਰੰਭ ਤੋਂ ਮੌਤ ਨੀਅਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਹੰਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਰੁਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Death is ordained from the very beginning, and yet ego makes us cry.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on the Naam, as Gurmukh, one becomes stable and steady. ||1||

ਧੰਨ ਹਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਟੁਰ ਵੰਞਣਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Blessed is the Perfect Guru, through whom the way of Death is known.

ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਫ਼ਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The sublime people earn the profit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they are absorbed in the Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||

ਮੁੱਢ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ, ਉਹ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਮਾਤਾ!

The days of one's life are pre-ordained; they will come to their end, O mother.

ਅੱਜ ਜਾਂ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਜਰੂਰ ਹੀ ਟੁਰ ਵੰਞੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਆਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ।

One must depart, today or tomorrow, according to the Lord's Primal Order. ||2||

ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਆਗਮਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ।

Useless are the lives of those, who have forgotten the Naam.

ਉਹ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੂਏ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਖੇਡਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

They play the game of chance in this world, and lose their mind. ||3||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who have found the Guru are at peace, in life and in death.

ਨਾਨਕ, ਸਚਿਆਰ, ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ, ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, the true ones are truly absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||12||64||

ਆਸਾ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:

ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Having obtained the treasure of this human birth, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।

By Guru's Grace, I understand, and I am absorbed into the True Lord. ||1||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਢਲੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਐਸੀ ਲਿਖਤਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who have such pre-ordained destiny practice the Naam.

ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਸੱਦ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The True Lord summons the truthful to the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਇਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Deep within is the treasure of the Naam; it is obtained by the Gurmukh.

ਰਾਤ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ।

Night and day, meditate on the Naam, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸ਼ੈਆਂ ਹਨ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ, ਅਧਰਮੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

Deep within are infinite substances, but the self-willed manmukh does not find them.

ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਗਰੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In egotism and pride, the mortal's proud self consumes him. ||3||

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, his identity consumes his identical identity.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਥੀਂ ਵੰਞਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, the mind is illumined, and meets the True Lord. ||4||13||65||

ਰਾਗ ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Raag Aasaavaree, 2 Of Sixteenth House, Fourth Mehl, Sudhang:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਰੈਣੂ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Night and day, I sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the Name of the Lord.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਜਾਂ ਛਿਨ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The True Guru has revealed to me the Name of the Lord; without the Lord, I cannot live, for a moment, even an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤੀ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਜੀਊਦਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ।

My ears hear the Lord's Kirtan, and I contemplate Him; without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜ-ਹੰਸ ਤਾਲਾਬ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

As the swan cannot live without the lake, how can the Lord's slave live without serving Him? ||1||

ਕਈ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਈ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Some enshrine love for duality in their hearts, and some pledge love for worldly attachments and ego.

ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਮਾਲਕ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord's servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa; Nanak contemplates the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||14||66||

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaavaree, Fourth Mehl:

ਮਾਤਾ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਤਾ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ (ਦਾ ਥਹੁ ਪਤਾ) ਦੱਸ।

O mother, my mother, tell me about my Beloved Lord.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਛਿਨ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਊਠ ਇਕ ਵੇਲ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Without the Lord, I cannot live for a moment, even an instant; I love Him, like the camel loves the vine. ||1||Pause||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

My mind has become sad and distant, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my Friend.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੌਰਾ ਕੰਵਲ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।

As the bumblebee cannot live without the lotus, I cannot live without the Lord. ||1||
