ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ; ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧੈ ॥
so panddit; jo man parabodhai |
ਉਹ ਹੀ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is a true Pandit, a religious scholar, who instructs his own mind.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ; ਆਤਮ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਧੈ ॥
raam naam; aatam meh sodhai |
ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He searches for the Lord's Name within his own soul.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ; ਸਾਰੁ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ॥
raam naam; saar ras peevai |
ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He drinks in the Exquisite Nectar of the Lord's Name.
ਉਸੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ; ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵੈ ॥
aus panddit kai upades; jag jeevai |
ਉਸ ਪੰਡਤ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਜੀਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
By that Pandit's teachings, the world lives.
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ; ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥
har kee kathaa; hiradai basaavai |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਸਥਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He implants the Sermon of the Lord in his heart.
ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ; ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ. ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
so panddit; fir jon. na aavai |
ਉਹ ਪੰਡਤ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
Such a Pandit is not cast into the womb of reincarnation again.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ; ਸਿਮਿ੍ਰਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਮੂਲ ॥
bed puraan; simrit boojhai mool |
ਉਹ ਵੇਦਾਂ, ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰ ਤੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
He understands the fundamental essence of the Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees.
ਸੂਖਮ ਮਹਿ; ਜਾਨੈ ਅਸਥੂਲੁ ॥
sookham meh; jaanai asathool |
ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
In the unmanifest, he sees the manifest world to exist.
ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ; ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥
chahu varanaa kau; de upades |
ਅਤੇ ਚਾਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He gives instruction to people of all castes and social classes.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਉਸੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਉ; ਸਦਾ ਅਦੇਸੁ ॥੪॥
naanak. us panddit kau; sadaa ades |4|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਸ ਪੰਡਤ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
O Nanak, to such a Pandit, I bow in salutation forever. ||4||
