Shabad

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕ ਥੰਮ ਮਹਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

As a palace is supported by its pillars,

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

so does the Guru's Word support the mind.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖਿਆ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

As a stone placed in a boat can cross over the river,

ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

so is the mortal saved, grasping hold of the Guru's Feet.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੈਂਪ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

As the darkness is illuminated by the lamp,

ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਤੱਕ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

so does the mind blossom forth, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰੇ ਬੀਆਬਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ,

The path is found through the great wilderness by joining the Saadh Sangat,

ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨੂਰ ਚਮਕ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Company of the Holy, and one's light shines forth.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਧੂੜ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

I seek the dust of the feet of those Saints;

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰ, ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ!

O Lord, fulfill Nanak's longing! ||3||
