ਅਸ਼ਟਪਦੀ।

Ashtapadee:

ਯਾਦ ਕਰ, ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ,

Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਖੇੜ ਅਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

Worry and anguish shall be dispelled from your body.

ਕੇਵਲ, ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਜੱਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ।

Remember in praise the One who pervades the whole Universe.

ਬੇਗਿਣਤ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਨਾਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

His Name is chanted by countless people, in so many ways.

ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਅੱਖਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੇਦ, ਪੁਰਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਤੀਆਂ,

The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, the purest of utterances,

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਇਕੋ ਅੱਖਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾ ਹਨ।

were created from the One Word of the Name of the Lord.

ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਭੋਰਾ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ,

That one, in whose soul the One Lord dwells

ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਗਿਣੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।

the praises of his glory cannot be recounted.

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਹਨ,

Those who yearn only for the blessing of Your Darshan

ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇ।
