ਰਾਗੁ ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆਂ।

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl, Ashtpadheeyaa:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. By Guru's Grace:

ਜਦ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

When this mind is filled with pride,

ਤਦ ਉਹ ਪਗਲਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

then it wanders around like a madman and a lunatic.

ਜਦ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

But when it becomes the dust of all,

ਉਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਉਹ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

then it recognizes the Lord in each and every heart. ||1||

ਆਜਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਮੇਵਾ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਮਨ-ਭਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।

The fruit of humility is intuitive peace and pleasure.

ਇਹ ਬਖਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

My True Guru has given me this gift. ||1||Pause||

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he believes others to be bad,

ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

then everyone lays traps for him.

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੇ ਅਰਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਨੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

But when he stops thinking in terms of 'mine' and 'yours',

ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

then no one is angry with him. ||2||

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ, ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਟ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he clings to 'my own, my own',

ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਔਕੜ ਆ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ।

then he is in deep trouble.

ਜਦ ਇਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

But when he recognizes the Creator Lord,

ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸੜੇਵਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

then he is free of torment. ||3||

ਜਦ ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਲਝਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he entangles himself in emotional attachment,

ਉਹ ਆਵਾਗਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਤਾੜ ਹੇਠਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

he comes and goes in reincarnation, under the constant gaze of Death.

ਜਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,

But when all his doubts are removed,

ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।

then there is no difference between him and the Supreme Lord God. ||4||

ਜਦ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਤਸਲੀਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he perceives differences,

ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

then he suffers pain, punishment and sorrow.

ਜਦ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

But when he recognizes the One and Only Lord,

ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੁਝ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

he understands everything. ||5||

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਧਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੱਜ ਦੌੜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he runs around for the sake of Maya and riches,

ਤਾਂ ਨਾਂ ਉਹ ਰੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਬੁਝਦੀ ਹੈ।

he is not satisfied, and his desires are not quenched.

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

But when he runs away from Maya,

ਤਾਂ ਲਕਸ਼ਮੀ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲਗ ਟੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

then the Goddess of Wealth gets up and follows him. ||6||

ਜਦ ਉਸਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦੇ ਹਨ,

When, by His Grace, the True Guru is met,

ਤਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

the lamp is lit within the temple of the mind.

ਜਦ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਫਤਹ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he realizes what victory and defeat really are,

ਤਦ ਉਹ ਏਸ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

then he comes to appreciate the true value of his own home. ||7||

ਉਹ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The One Lord is the Creator of all things, the Cause of causes.

ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨਤਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself is wisdom, contemplation and discerning understanding.

ਉਹ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਥ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

He is not far away; He is near at hand, with all.

ਸੱਚੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰ।

So praise the True One, O Nanak, with love! ||8||1||
