ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ।

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

ਬੱਚੇਦਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਵਸੇਬੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਵੰਸ਼ ਜਾ ਜਾਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

In the dwelling of the womb, there is no ancestry or social status.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬੀਜ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

All have originated from the Seed of God. ||1||

ਦੱਸ ਹੇ ਪੰਡਤ! ਤੂੰ ਕਦੋਂ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ?

Tell me, O Pandit, O religious scholar: since when have you been a Brahmin?

ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Don't waste your life by continually claiming to be a Brahmin. ||1||Pause||

ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਜਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੈ,

If you are indeed a Brahmin, born of a Brahmin mother,

ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਰਸਤੇ ਦੂਆਰਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ?

then why didn't you come by some other way? ||2||

ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕ ਸ਼ੂਦਰ।

How is it that you are a Brahmin, and I am of a low social status?

ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਹੁ ਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਹੈ?

How is it that I am formed of blood, and you are made of milk? ||3||

ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

Says Kabeer, one who contemplates God,

ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

is said to be a Brahmin among us. ||4||7||
