ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar sat naam karataa purakh gur prasaad |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮੇਰੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪੋਚ; ਸੋਚ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
meree sangat poch; soch din raatee |
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਠਕ ਬੈਠਕ ਭੈੜੀ ਹੈ,
The company I keep is wretched and low, and I am anxious day and night;
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਕੁਟਿਲਤਾ; ਜਨਮੁ ਕੁਭਾਂਤੀ ॥੧॥
meraa karam kuttilataa; janam kubhaantee |1|
ਮੇਰੇ ਅਮਲ ਟੇਢੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਨੀਚ ਹੈ।
my actions are crooked, and I am of lowly birth. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਗੁਸਈਆ; ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨਾ ॥
raam guseea; jeea ke jeevanaa |
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਇਨਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ,
O Lord, Master of the earth, Life of the soul,
ਮੋਹਿ. ਨ ਬਿਸਾਰਹੁ; ਮੈ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mohi. na bisaarahu; mai jan teraa |1| rahaau |
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
please do not forget me! I am Your humble servant. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰਹੁ ਬਿਪਤਿ; ਜਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
meree harahu bipat; jan karahu subhaaee |
ਮੇਰੀ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਰਫ਼ਾ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਫ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ।
Take away my pains, and bless Your humble servant with Your Sublime Love.
ਚਰਣ ਨ ਛਾਡਉ; ਸਰੀਰ ਕਲ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
charan na chhaaddau; sareer kal jaaee |2|
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਾਂਗਾ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਭਲਕੇ ਹੀ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਏ।
I shall not leave Your Feet, even though my body may perish. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ; ਪਰਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਭਾ ॥
kahu ravidaas; prau teree saabhaa |
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
Says Ravi Daas, I seek the protection of Your Sanctuary;
ਬੇਗਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਜਨ; ਕਰਿ ਨ ਬਿਲਾਂਬਾ ॥੩॥੧॥
beg milahu jan; kar na bilaanbaa |3|1|
ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਰੀ ਨਾਂ ਲਾ।
please, meet Your humble servant - do not delay! ||3||1||
ਬੇਗਮ ਪੁਰਾ; ਸਹਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
begam puraa; sehar ko naau |
ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੇਗਮਪੁਰਾ ਹੈ!
Baygumpura, 'the city without sorrow', is the name of the town.
ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਦੋਹੁ ਨਹੀ; ਤਿਹਿ ਠਾਉ ॥
dookh andohu nahee; tihi tthaau |
ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਜਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
There is no suffering or anxiety there.
ਨਾਂ ਤਸਵੀਸ; ਖਿਰਾਜੁ ਨ ਮਾਲੁ ॥
naan tasavees; khiraaj na maal |
ਉਥੇ ਮਾਲ ਅਸਬਾਬ ਤੇ ਮਸੂਲ ਲਗਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ।
There are no troubles or taxes on commodities there.
ਖਉਫੁ ਨ ਖਤਾ; ਨ ਤਰਸੁ ਜਵਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
khauf na khataa; na taras javaal |1|
ਉਥੇ ਨਾਂ ਭੈ, ਨਾਂ ਗਲਤੀ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਹੈ।
There is no fear, blemish or downfall there. ||1||
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ; ਖੂਬ ਵਤਨ ਗਹ ਪਾਈ ॥
ab mohi; khoob vatan geh paaee |
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ-ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Now, I have found this most excellent city.
ਊਹਾਂ ਖੈਰਿ ਸਦਾ; ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aoohaan khair sadaa; mere bhaaee |1| rahaau |
ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਉਥੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਮਤੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
There is lasting peace and safety there, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਇਮੁ ਦਾਇਮੁ; ਸਦਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ॥
kaaeim daaeim; sadaa paatisaahee |
ਪੱਕੀ, ਸਥਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
God's Kingdom is steady, stable and eternal.
ਦੋਮ ਨ ਸੇਮ; ਏਕ ਸੋ ਆਹੀ ॥
dom na sem; ek so aahee |
ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾ ਤੀਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੈ।
There is no second or third status; all are equal there.
ਆਬਾਦਾਨੁ; ਸਦਾ ਮਸਹੂਰ ॥
aabaadaan; sadaa masahoor |
ਆਬਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਘਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ।
That city is populous and eternally famous.
ਊਹਾਂ ਗਨੀ ਬਸਹਿ; ਮਾਮੂਰ ॥੨॥
aoohaan ganee baseh; maamoor |2|
ਅਮੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਉਥੇ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who live there are wealthy and contented. ||2||
ਤਿਉ ਤਿਉ ਸੈਲ ਕਰਹਿ; ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
tiau tiau sail kareh; jiau bhaavai |
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They stroll about freely, just as they please.
ਮਹਰਮ ਮਹਲ; ਨ ਕੋ ਅਟਕਾਵੈ ॥
maharam mehal; na ko attakaavai |
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਜਾਣੂ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕਦਾ।
They know the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and no one blocks their way.
ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ; ਖਲਾਸ ਚਮਾਰਾ ॥
keh ravidaas; khalaas chamaaraa |
ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
Says Ravi Daas, the emancipated shoe-maker:
ਜੋ ਹਮ ਸਹਰੀ; ਸੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੨॥
jo ham saharee; su meet hamaaraa |3|2|
ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ।
whoever is a citizen there, is a friend of mine. ||3||2||
