ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar sat naam karataa purakh gur prasaad |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ; ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

(ਨੌਂ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਅਤੇ (ਅਠਾਰਾਂ) ਕਰਾਮਾਤਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।
The nine treasures and the miraculous spiritual powers come by contemplating the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ; ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਰਿ ॥

ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਥਾਈ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Perfect Lord is All-pervading everywhere; He destroys the poison of Maya.
ਤਿ੍ਰਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੀ; ਬਿਮਲ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥
trikuttee chhoottee; bimal majhaar |
ਪਾਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
I am rid of the three-phased Maya, dwelling in the Pure Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ; ਜੀਇ ਆਈ ਕਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ।
The Guru's Teachings are useful to my soul. ||1||
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ; ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ. ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
ein bidh; raam ramat. man maaniaa |
ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਤੀਜ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
Chanting the Lord's Name in this way, my mind is satisfied.
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ; ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਰਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ ਮਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਿੰਞਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
I have obtained the ointment of spiritual wisdom, recognizing the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ; ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
eik sukh maaniaa; sehaj milaaeaa |
ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਇਕ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਪਰਮ ਅਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
Blended with the One Lord, I enjoy intuitive peace.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ; ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
niramal baanee; bharam chukaaeaa |
ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Through the Immaculate Bani of the Word, my doubts have been dispelled.
ਲਾਲ ਭਏ; ਸੂਹਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
laal bhe; soohaa rang maaeaa |
ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਰਤੀ ਭਾਹ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਗੁਲਾਨਾਰੀ ਰੰਗਤ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
Instead of the pale color of Maya, I am imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love.
ਨਦਰਿ ਭਈ; ਬਿਖੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
nadar bhee; bikh tthaak rahaaeaa |2|
ਜਦ ਮਾਲਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਗ੍ਹਾ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
By the Lord's Glance of Grace, the poison has been eliminated. ||2||
ਉਲਟ ਭਈ; ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਗਿਆ ॥
aulatt bhee; jeevat mar jaagiaa |
ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੋੜਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਜੀਉਂਦੇਂ ਜੀ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ (ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਜਾਗ ਉਠਿਆ।
When I turned away, and became dead while yet alive, I was awakened.
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਵੇ; ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਿਆ ॥
sabad rave; man har siau laagiaa |
ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਈ।
Chanting the Word of the Shabad, my mind is attached to the Lord.
ਰਸੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ; ਬਿਖੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ॥
ras sangreh; bikh parahar tiaagiaa |
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਅਤੇ ਪਰੇ ਸੁਟ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਤ੍ਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
I have gathered in the Lord's sublime essence, and cast out the poison.
ਭਾਇ ਬਸੇ; ਜਮ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਿਆ ॥੩॥
bhaae base; jam kaa bhau bhaagiaa |3|
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਭਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Abiding in His Love, the fear of death has run away. ||3||
ਸਾਦ ਰਹੇ; ਬਾਦੰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
saad rahe; baadan ahankaaraa |
ਮੇਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਸੁਆਦ, ਬਖੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਊਮੇ ਮੁਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
My taste for pleasure ended, along with conflict and egotism.
ਚਿਤੁ. ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤਾ; ਹੁਕਮਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
chit. har siau raataa; hukam apaaraa |
ਅਨੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
My consciousness is attuned to the Lord, by the Order of the Infinite.
ਜਾਤਿ ਰਹੇ; ਪਤਿ ਕੇ ਆਚਾਰਾ ॥
jaat rahe; pat ke aachaaraa |
ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕ-ਲੱਜਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
My pursuit for worldy pride and honour is over.
ਦਿ੍ਰਸਟਿ ਭਈ; ਸੁਖੁ ਆਤਮ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
drisatt bhee; sukh aatam dhaaraa |4|
ਜਦ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਮੈਂ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ।
When He blessed me with His Glance of Grace, peace was established in my soul. ||4||
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ; ਕੋਇ ਨ ਦੇਖਉ ਮੀਤੁ ॥
tujh bin; koe na dekhau meet |
ਤੇਰੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ।
Without You, I see no friend at all.
ਕਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਉ; ਕਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
kis sevau; kis devau cheet |
ਹੋਰ ਕੀਹਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਮਰਪਨ ਕਰਾਂ?
Whom should I serve? Unto whom should I dedicate my consciousness?
ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਛਉ; ਕਿਸੁ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
kis poochhau; kis laagau paae |
ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਵਾਂ?
Whom should I ask? At whose feet should I fall?
ਕਿਸੁ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ; ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੫॥
kis upades; rahaa liv laae |5|
ਕੀਹਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?
By whose teachings will I remain absorbed in His Love? ||5||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੀ; ਗੁਰ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
gur sevee; gur laagau paae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I serve the Guru, and I fall at the Guru's Feet.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ; ਰਾਚਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
bhagat karee; raachau har naae |
ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
I worship Him, and I am absorbed in the Lord's Name.
ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦੀਖਿਆ; ਭੋਜਨ ਭਾਉ ॥
sikhiaa deekhiaa; bhojan bhaau |
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼, ਰੱਬੀ ਗੋਸ਼ਟ ਤੇ ਖਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord's Love is my instruction, sermon and food.
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ; ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
hukam sanjogee; nij ghar jaau |6|
ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
Enjoined to the Lord's Command, I have entered the home of my inner self. ||6||
ਗਰਬ ਗਤੰ; ਸੁਖ ਆਤਮ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥
garab gatan; sukh aatam dhiaanaa |
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਨਵਿਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
With the extinction of pride, my soul has found peace and meditation.
ਜੋਤਿ ਭਈ; ਜੋਤੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
jot bhee; jotee maeh samaanaa |
ਰੱਬੀ ਨੂਰ ਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਪਰਮ ਨੂਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
The Divine Light has dawned, and I am absorbed in the Light.
ਲਿਖਤੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਨਹੀ; ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਨਾ ॥
likhat mittai nahee; sabad neesaanaa |
ਅਨੰਤ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਮੇਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਝੰਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
Pre-ordained destiny cannot be erased; the Shabad is my banner and insignia.
ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ; ਕਰਤਾ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੭॥
karataa karanaa; karataa jaanaa |7|
ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਰਚਣਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਰਚਨਾ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
I know the Creator, the Creator of His Creation. ||7||
ਨਹ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ; ਨਹ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਨਾ ॥
neh panddit; neh chatur siaanaa |
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨਾਂ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ, ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰ ਜਾਂ ਅਕਲਮੰਦ ਹੈ,
I am not a learned Pandit, I am not clever or wise.
ਨਹ ਭੂਲੋ; ਨਹ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ॥
neh bhoolo; neh bharam bhulaanaa |
ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਹੋਂ ਅੋਟਲਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸ਼ੱਕ-ਸ਼ੁਭੇ ਦਾ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
I do not wander; I am not deluded by doubt.
ਕਥਉ ਨ ਕਥਨੀ; ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥
kthau na kathanee; hukam pachhaanaa |
ਮੈਂ ਵਿਹਲੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I do not speak empty speech; I have recognized the Hukam of His Command.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥੮॥੧॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Nanak is absorbed in intuitive peace through the Guru's Teachings. ||8||1||
