ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਪੀੜ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who forgets the Lord's Name, suffers in pain.

ਜੋ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Those who join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and dwell upon the Lord, find the Ocean of virtue. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਦਕਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਗਿਆਤ ਹੈ,

Those Gurmukhs whose hearts are filled with wisdom,

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੀ ਹਥੇਲੀ ਉਤੇ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

hold the nine treasures, and the miraculous spiritual powers of the Siddhas in the palms of their hands. ||1||

ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,

Those who know the Lord God as their Master,

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦਾ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

do not lack anything. ||2||

ਜੋ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Those who realize the Creator Lord,

ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

enjoy all peace and pleasure. ||3||

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,

Those whose inner homes are filled with the Lord's wealth

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ-ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ।

- says Nanak, in their company, pain departs. ||4||9||147||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਬੜਾ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ, ਇਤਨੇ ਤੁੱਛ ਅਮਲੇ ਤੋ।

Your pride is so great, but what about your origins?

ਤੂੰ ਠਹਿਰਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਲੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

You cannot remain, no matter how much you try to hold on. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ, ਤੂੰ ਮੁਹੁੱਬਤ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।

That which is forbidden by the Vedas and the Saints - with that, you are in love.

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੂਏ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ, ਹਾਰਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੁਆਰੀਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜੀ ਰਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੋਗ-ਅੰਗ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰੀ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

Like the gambler losing the game of chance, you are held in the power of sensory desires. ||1||

ਜੋ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਤੇ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਚਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ।

The One who is All-powerful to empty out and fill up - you have no love for His Lotus Feet.

ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।

O Nanak, I have been saved, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. I have been blessed by the Treasure of Mercy. ||2||10||148||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ।

I am the slave of my Lord and Master.

ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

I eat whatever God gives me. ||1||Pause||

ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ, ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ।

Such is my Lord and Master.

ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਰਚਨ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

In an instant, He creates and embellishes. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

I do that work which pleases my Lord and Master.

ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਜੱਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਕਉਤਕਾ ਦੇ ਗਾਉਣ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I sing the songs of God's glory, and His wondrous play. ||2||

ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ (ਗੁਰਾਂ) ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ।

I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord's Prime Minister;

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਧੀਰਜਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

beholding Him, my mind is comforted and consoled. ||3||

ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,

The One Lord is my support, the One is my steady anchor.

ਗੋਲਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇਵਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ!

Servant Nanak is engaged in the Lord's work. ||4||11||149||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਇਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਜਣਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਪਾਸ਼ ਪਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ,

Is there anyone, who can shatter his ego,

ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਿਠੜੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੋੜ ਲਵੇ? ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

and turn his mind away from this sweet Maya? ||1||Pause||

ਆਦਮੀ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

Humanity is in spiritual ignorance; people see things that do not exist.

ਰਾਤ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰੀ ਤੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਸਵੇਰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪਵੇ?

The night is dark and gloomy; how will the morning dawn? ||1||

ਫਿਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਰ ਹੁਟ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ। ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਢੰਗ ਅਖ਼ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੂੰਡਿਆ ਹੈ।

Wandering, wandering all around, I have grown weary; trying all sorts of things, I have been searching.

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Says Nanak, He has shown mercy to me; I have found the treasure of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||12||150||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੁਰਕ ਰਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਪੁੰਜ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

He is the Wish-fulfilling Jewel, the Embodiment of Mercy. ||1||Pause||

ਬੁਲੰਦ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Supreme Lord God is Merciful to the meek; Meditating in remembrance on Him, peace is obtained. ||1||

ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਸਮਝ ਸੋਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Wisdom of the Undying Primal Being is beyond comprehension. Hearing His Praises, millions of sins are erased. ||2||

ਹੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕਰੇ।

O God, Treasure of Mercy, please bless Nanak with Your kindness, that he may repeat the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||13||151||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree Poorbee, Fifth Mehl:

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।

O my mind, in the Sanctuary of God, peace is found.

ਜਿਸ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

That day, when the Giver of life and peace is forgotten - that day passes uselessly. ||1||Pause||

ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਹੁਣੇ ਵਜੋ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਤੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੈਦ ਵਧਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।

You have come as a guest for one short night, and yet you hope to live for many ages.

ਘਰ, ਮਹਲ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਭੀ ਨਜ਼ਰੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ।

Households, mansions and wealth - whatever is seen, is like the shade of a tree. ||1||

ਮੇਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੌਲਤ, ਬਗੀਚੇ, ਅਤੇ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ, ਸਮੂਹ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

My body, wealth, and all my gardens and property shall all pass away.

ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਛਡਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸੁ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ।

You have forgotten your Lord and Master, the Great Giver. In an instant, these shall belong to somebody else. ||2||
