ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਫ਼ਰ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ।

The slaves of God are good.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ (ਸੂਰਖ਼ਰੂ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ।

O Nanak, their faces are radiant. ||4||3||141||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਹੈ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

Hey, soul: your only Support is the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਹੋਰ ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਭੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Whatever else you do or make happen, the fear of death still hangs over you. ||1||Pause||

ਹੋਰਸੁ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

He is not obtained by any other efforts.

ਪਰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

By great good fortune, meditate on the Lord. ||1||

ਆਦਮੀ ਲਖਾਂ ਅਟਕਲਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ,

You may know hundreds of thousands of clever tricks,

ਪਰ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਅਗੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਰਗਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

but not even one will be of any use at all hereafter. ||2||

ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ ਇੰਜ ਰੁੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,

Good deeds done in the pride of ego are swept away,

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੇਤ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ।

Like the house of sand by water. ||3||

ਜਦ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ ਮਇਆ ਧਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

When God the Merciful shows His Mercy,

ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Nanak receives the Naam in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||4||4||142||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪਜੰਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਤੋਂ ਲਖੂਖਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਤੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

I am a sacrifice, dedicated hundreds of thousands of times, to my Lord and Master.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ, ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

His Name, and His Name alone, is the Support of the breath of life. ||1||Pause||

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

You alone are the Doer, the Cause of causes.

ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੰਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

You are the Support of all beings and creatures. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਹੈ।

O God, You are my power, authority and youth.

ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਾਕਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਕਾਰਾ ਵਾਲਾ।

You are absolute, without attributes, and also related, with the most sublime attributes. ||2||

ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ।

Here and hereafter, You are my Savior and Protector.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, some understand You. ||3||

ਸਰਬੱਗ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

God is All-knowing, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.

ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤ ਹੈ।

You are Nanak's strength and support. ||4||5||143||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਮਣ ਕਰ।

Worship and adore the Lord, Har, Har, Har.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਿਸਾ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਸਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

In the Society of the Saints, He dwells in the mind; doubt, emotional attachment and fear are vanquished. ||1||Pause||

ਵੇਦ, ਪੁਰਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਤੀਆਂ ਪੁਕਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ,

The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees are heard to proclaim

ਕਿ ਰਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇ ਵਸਦੇ ਸੁਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

that the Lord's servant dwells as the highest of all. ||1||

ਜਾਣ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਡਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

All places are filled with fear - know this well.

ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਮਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Only the Lord's servants are free of fear. ||2||

ਚੁਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਹਨ।

People wander through 8.4 million incarnations.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ।

God's people are not subject to birth and death. ||3||

ਜ਼ੋਰ-ਬੰਦੀ, ਅਕਲਮੰਦੀ, ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਝੜ ਪਏ ਹਨ,

He has given up power, wisdom, cleverness and egotism.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਸੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਪਕੜੀ ਹੈ।

Nanak has taken to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Holy Saints. ||4||6||144||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ, ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ।

O my mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord's Name.

ਸਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Serve the Lord continually and continuously; with each and every breath, meditate on the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਰਿਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

In the Society of the Saints, the Lord dwells in the mind,

ਅਤੇ ਸੰਕਟ, ਪੀੜ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਤੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

and pain, suffering, darkness and doubt depart. ||1||

ਜੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਧਦਾ ਹੈ,

That humble being, who meditates on the Lord,

ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਮਹਾਂਕਸ਼ਟ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਖਾਂਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

By the Grace of the Saints, is not afflicted with pain. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,

Those unto whom the Guru gives the Mantra of the Lord's Name,

ਉਹ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

are saved from the fire of Maya. ||3||

ਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ, ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰ,

Be kind to Nanak, O God;

ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ।

let the Lord's Name dwell within my mind and body. ||4||7||145||

ਗਵੂੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ,

With your tongue, chant the Name of the One Lord.

ਏਥੇ ਇਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਗੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਥ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

In this world, it shall bring you peace, comfort and great joy; hereafter, it shall go with your soul, and shall be of use to you. ||1||Pause||

ਤੇਰੀ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਨਵਿਰਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ।

The disease of your ego shall be eradicated.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਸਦਕਾ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਮਾਣੇਗਾ।

By Guru's Grace, practice Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success. ||1||

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,

Those who taste the sublime essence of the Lord

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

have their thirst quenched. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,

Those who have found the Lord, the Treasure of peace,

ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।

shall not go anywhere else again. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,

Those, unto whom the Guru has given the Lord's Name, Har, Har

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

- O Nanak, their fears are removed. ||4||8||146||
