ਤਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੂਚੈ; ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
tan man soochai; saach su cheet |
ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਦੈ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Their bodies and minds are purified, as they enshrine the True Lord in their consciousness.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ; ਨੀਤਾ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੮॥੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੂੰ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹੀ, ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
O Nanak, meditate on the Lord, each and every day. ||8||2||

ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਰੈ; ਨ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
naa man marai; na kaaraj hoe |
ਮਨੂਆ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
The mind does not die, so the job is not accomplished.
ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਦੂਤਾ; ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੋਇ ॥
man vas dootaa; duramat doe |
ਮਨੂਆਂ ਮੰਦ-ਵਿਸ਼ਆਂ, ਮੰਦੀ ਬੁਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
The mind is under the power of the demons of evil intellect and duality.
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ; ਗੁਰ ਤੇ. ਇਕੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
man maanai; gur te. ik hoe |1|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਾ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
But when the mind surrenders, through the Guru, it becomes one. ||1||
ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਰਾਮੁ; ਗੁਣਹ ਵਸਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
niragun raam; gunah vas hoe |
ਲੱਛਣ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ।
The Lord is without attributes; the attributes of virtue are under His control.
ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ; ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਟ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
One who eliminates selfishness contemplates Him. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲੋ; ਬਹੁ ਚਿਤੈ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
man bhoolo; bahu chitai vikaar |
ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਈ ਆਤਮਾ ਘਨੇਰੀਆਂ ਬਦੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The deluded mind thinks of all sorts of corruption.
ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲੋ; ਸਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
man bhoolo; sir aavai bhaar |
ਜਦ ਆਤਮਾ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਟੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਝ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the mind is deluded, the load of wickedness falls on the head.
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ; ਹਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
man maanai; har ekankaar |2|
ਜਦ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
But when the mind surrenders to the Lord, it realizes the One and Only Lord. ||2||
ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲੋ; ਮਾਇਆ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
man bhoolo; maaeaa ghar jaae |
ਘੁੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੂਆ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The deluded mind enters the house of Maya.
ਕਾਮਿ ਬਿਰੂਧਉ; ਰਹੈ ਨ ਠਾਇ ॥
kaam biroodhau; rahai na tthaae |
ਭੋਗ-ਚੇਸ਼ਟਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਾਥਾ ਇਹ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।
Engrossed in sexual desire, it does not remain steady.
ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ; ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਇ ॥੩॥
har bhaj praanee; rasan rasaae |3|
ਹੇ ਫਾਨੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਹਿਤ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕਰ।
O mortal, lovingly vibrate the Lord's Name with your tongue. ||3||
ਗੈਵਰ ਹੈਵਰ; ਕੰਚਨ ਸੁਤ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
gaivar haivar; kanchan sut naaree |
ਹਾਥੀ, ਘੋੜੇ, ਸੋਨਾ, ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ,
Elephants, horses, gold, children and spouses
ਬਹੁ ਚਿੰਤਾ; ਪਿੜ ਚਾਲੈ ਹਾਰੀ ॥
bahu chintaa; pirr chaalai haaree |
ਘਨੇਰੇ iਫ਼ਕਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਖੇਡ ਹਾਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
in the anxious affairs of all these, people lose the game and depart.
ਜੂਐ ਖੇਲਣੁ; ਕਾਚੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
jooai khelan; kaachee saaree |4|
ਸ਼ਤਰੰਜ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਰਦ ਪੁੱਗਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
In the game of chess, their pieces do not reach their destination. ||4||
ਸੰਪਉ ਸੰਚੀ; ਭਏ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
sanpau sanchee; bhe vikaar |
ਆਦਮੀ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਦੀ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
They gather wealth, but only evil comes from it.
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਕ; ਉਭੇ ਦਰਵਾਰਿ ॥
harakh sok; ubhe daravaar |
ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਖੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ!
Pleasure and pain stand in the doorway.
ਸੁਖੁ ਸਹਜੇ; ਜਪਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੫॥
sukh sahaje; jap ridai muraar |5|
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਲੋ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਅਨੰਦ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Intuitive peace comes by meditating on the Lord, within the heart. ||5||
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ; ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
nadar kare; taa mel milaae |
ਜਦ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਬਿਰਾਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then He unites us in His Union.
ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ; ਅਉਗਣ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
gun sangreh; aaugan sabad jalaae |
ਉਹ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ,
Through the Word of the Shabad, merits are gathered in, and demerits are burned away.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ; ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥
guramukh; naam padaarath paae |6|
ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਨਾਮ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh obtains the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||6||
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ; ਸਭ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
bin naavai; sabh dookh nivaas |
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
Without the Name, all live in pain.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ; ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤ ਵਾਸੁ ॥

ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
The consciousness of the foolish, self-willed manmukh is the dwelling place of Maya.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ; ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥੭॥
guramukh giaan; dhur karam likhiaas |7|
ਪੂਰਬਲੀ-ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦੀ ਬਦੌਲਤ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਵੀਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom, according to pre-ordained destiny. ||7||
ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ; ਧਾਵਤੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
man chanchal; dhaavat fun dhaavai |
ਚੁਲਬੁਲ ਮਨੂਆਂ ਅਨਿਸਥਿਰ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਮਗਰ ਬਾਰੰਬਾਰ ਨੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
The fickle mind continuously runs after fleeting things.
ਸਾਚੇ ਸੂਚੇ; ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
saache sooche; mail na bhaavai |
ਸੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਲੀਣਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
The Pure True Lord is not pleased by filth.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੩॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵਨ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the Gurmukh sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||8||3||
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤਿਆ; ਨਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
haumai karatiaa; neh sukh hoe |
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
Acting in egotism, peace is not obtained.
ਮਨਮਤਿ ਝੂਠੀ; ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
manamat jhootthee; sachaa soe |
ਕੂੜੀ ਹੈ ਮਨੂਏ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ। ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ।
The intellect of the mind is false; only the Lord is True.
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਗੂਤੇ; ਭਾਵੈ ਦੋਇ ॥
sagal bigoote; bhaavai doe |
ਜੋ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
All who love duality are ruined.
ਸੋ ਕਮਾਵੈ; ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
so kamaavai; dhur likhiaa hoe |1|
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਹ ਕੁਛ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
People act as they are pre-ordained. ||1||
ਐਸਾ; ਜਗੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜੂਆਰੀ ॥
aisaa; jag dekhiaa jooaaree |
ਮੈਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਜੂਏ ਬਾਜ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ,
I have seen the world to be such a gambler;
ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਗੈ; ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabh sukh maagai; naam bisaaree |1| rahaau |
ਕਿ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
all beg for peace, but they forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਅਦਿਸਟੁ ਦਿਸੈ; ਤਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
adisatt disai; taa kahiaa jaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਅਡਿੱਠ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ, ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
If the Unseen Lord could be seen, then He could be described.
ਬਿਨੁ ਦੇਖੇ; ਕਹਣਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
bin dekhe; kahanaa birathaa jaae |
ਬਗੈਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੇ, ਬੇਫਾਇਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਰਨਣ।
Without seeing Him, all descriptions are useless.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਸੈ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
guramukh deesai; sehaj subhaae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਦਿਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukh sees Him with intuitive ease.
ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ; ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
sevaa surat; ek liv laae |2|
ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ।
So serve the One Lord, with loving awareness. ||2||
ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਂਗਤ; ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗਲ ਹੋਇ ॥
sukh maangat; dukh aagal hoe |
ਆਰਾਮ ਮੰਗਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਬੇਆਰਾਮੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
People beg for peace, but they receive severe pain.
ਸਗਲ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ; ਹਾਰੁ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
sagal vikaaree; haar paroe |
ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਫੂਲਮਾਲਾ ਗੁੰਥਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They are all weaving a wreath of corruption.
ਏਕ ਬਿਨਾ. ਝੂਠੇ; ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
ek binaa. jhootthe; mukat na hoe |
ਹੇ ਕੂੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
You are false - without the One, there is no liberation.
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ; ਦੇਖੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
kar kar karataa; dekhai soe |3|
ਉਹ ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Creator created the creation, and He watches over it. ||3||
ਤਿ੍ਰਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ; ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
trisanaa agan; sabad bujhaae |
ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਝਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The fire of desire is quenched by the Word of the Shabad.
ਦੂਜਾ ਭਰਮੁ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
doojaa bharam; sehaj subhaae |
ਤਦ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ, ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Duality and doubt are automatically eliminated.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ; ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
guramatee; naam ridai vasaae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Following the Guru's Teachings, the Naam abides in the heart.
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ; ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੪॥
saachee baanee; har gun gaae |4|
ਸੱਚੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the True Word of His Bani, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||
ਤਨ ਮਹਿ. ਸਾਚੋ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਉ ॥
tan meh. saacho; guramukh bhaau |
ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The True Lord abides within the body of that Gurmukh who enshrines love for Him.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ; ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਜ ਠਾਉ ॥
naam binaa; naahee nij tthaau |
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ, ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Without the Naam, none obtain their own place.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰਾਇਣ; ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਉ ॥

ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ; ਤਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੫॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰੇ ਤਦ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
If He bestows His Glance of Grace, then we realize His Name. ||5||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ; ਸਰਬ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ॥
maaeaa mohu; sarab janjaalaa |
ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਮੂਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
Emotional attachment to Maya is total entanglement.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕੁਚੀਲ; ਕੁਛਿਤ ਬਿਕਰਾਲਾ ॥
manamukh kucheel; kuchhit bikaraalaa |
ਅਧਰਮੀ ਮਲੀਨ ਨਿੰਦਤ ਅਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukh is filthy, cursed and dreadful.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ; ਚੂਕੈ ਜੰਜਾਲਾ ॥
satigur seve; chookai janjaalaa |
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੁਆੜਾ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Serving the True Guru, these entanglements are ended.
ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ; ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਲਾ ॥੬॥
amrit naam; sadaa sukh naalaa |6|
ਨਾਮ ਅਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ (ਅੰਦਰ) ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, you shall abide in lasting peace. ||6||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ; ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
guramukh boojhai; ek liv laae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukhs understand the One Lord, and enshrine love for Him.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੈ; ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
nij ghar vaasai; saach samaae |
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They dwell in the home of their own inner beings, and merge in the True Lord.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ; ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥
jaman maranaa; tthaak rahaae |
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The cycle of birth and death is ended.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ; ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੭॥
poore gur te; ih mat paae |7|
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
This understanding is obtained from the Perfect Guru. ||7||
ਕਥਨੀ ਕਥਉ; ਨ ਆਵੈ ਓਰੁ ॥
kathanee kthau; na aavai or |
ਵਾਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
Speaking the speech, there is no end to it.
