ਹਉਮੈ ਬੰਧਨ; ਬੰਧਿ ਭਵਾਵੈ ॥

ਹੰਕਾਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਜੀਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਕੜ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਵਾਗਉਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Egotism binds people in bondage, and causes them to wander around lost.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੧੩॥

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, peace is obtained through devotional worship of the Lord. ||8||13||

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ; ਕਾਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥

ਅੱਵਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਮੌਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੜਿਆ (ਦੇ ਵਸ ਪਿਆ)।
First, Brahma entered the house of Death.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ; ਕਮਲੁ ਪਇਆਲਿ. ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਕੰਵਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇਅੰਤ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਾਂ ਲੱਗਾ।
Brahma entered the lotus, and searched the nether regions, but he did not find the end of it.
ਆਗਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਲੀਨੀ; ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
aagiaa nahee leenee; bharam bhulaaeaa |1|
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਨਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਹਿਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
He did not accept the Lord's Order - he was deluded by doubt. ||1||
ਜੋ ਉਪਜੈ; ਸੋ ਕਾਲਿ ਸੰਘਾਰਿਆ ॥
jo upajai; so kaal sanghaariaa |
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Whoever is created, shall be destroyed by Death.
ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ; ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
But I am protected by the Lord; I contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੇ; ਦੇਵੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
maaeaa mohe; devee sabh devaa |
ਮੌਹਨੀ ਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਲ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
All the gods and goddesses are enticed by Maya.
ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ; ਬਿਨੁ. ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
kaal na chhoddai; bin. gur kee sevaa |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੌਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛਡਦੀ।
Death cannot be avoided, without serving the Guru.
ਓਹੁ; ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥੨॥
ohu; abinaasee alakh abhevaa |2|
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਮਰ, ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੇਦ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ।
That Lord is Imperishable, Invisible and Inscrutable. ||2||
ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਖਾਨ ਬਾਦਿਸਾਹ; ਨਹੀ ਰਹਨਾ ॥
sulataan khaan baadisaah; nahee rahanaa |
ਮਹਾਰਾਜੇ, ਸਰਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।
The sultans, emperors and kings shall not remain.
ਨਾਮਹੁ ਭੂਲੈ; ਜਮ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਹਨਾ ॥
naamahu bhoolai; jam kaa dukh sahanaa |
ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਸਹਾਰਣਗੇ।
Forgetting the Name, they shall endure the pain of death.
ਮੈ ਧਰ ਨਾਮੁ; ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਰਹਨਾ ॥੩॥
mai dhar naam; jiau raakhahu rahanaa |3|
ਮੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
My only Support is the Naam, the Name of the Lord; as He keeps me, I survive. ||3||
ਚਉਧਰੀ ਰਾਜੇ; ਨਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਮੁਕਾਮੁ ॥
chaudharee raaje; nahee kisai mukaam |
ਮੁੱਖੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਰਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
The leaders and kings shall not remain.
ਸਾਹ ਮਰਹਿ; ਸੰਚਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾਮ ॥
saah mareh; sancheh maaeaa daam |
ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The bankers shall die, after accumulating their wealth and money.
ਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ; ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੪॥
mai dhan deejai; har amrit naam |4|
ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਮਈ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ।
Grant me, O Lord, the wealth of Your Ambrosial Naam. ||4||
ਰਯਤਿ ਮਹਰ; ਮੁਕਦਮ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੈ ॥
rayat mehar; mukadam sikadaarai |
ਰਿਆਇਆ ਸਰਦਾਰ, ਨੰਬਰਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਚਊਧਰੀ।
The people, rulers, leaders and chiefs
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ; ਕੋਇ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ॥
nihachal; koe na disai sansaarai |
ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੁਸਤਕਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਸਦਾ।
none of them shall be able to remain in the world.
ਅਫਰਿਉ ਕਾਲੁ; ਕੂੜੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੫॥
afariau kaal; koorr sir maarai |5|
ਅਮੋੜ ਮੌਤ ਝੂਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸੱਟ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Death is inevitable; it strikes the heads of the false. ||5||
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਕੁ; ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
nihachal ek; sachaa sach soee |
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਸੁਅਠਾਮੀ, ਸੱਚਿਆਰਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਸੱਚਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੈ।
Only the One Lord, the Truest of the True, is permanent.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਜੀ; ਤਿਨਹਿ ਸਭ ਗੋਈ ॥
jin kar saajee; tineh sabh goee |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਓਹੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
He who created and fashioned everything, shall destroy it.
ਓਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਪੈ; ਤਾਂ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੬॥
ohu guramukh jaapai; taan pat hoee |6|
ਜਦ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
One who becomes Gurmukh and meditates on the Lord is honored. ||6||
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੇਖ; ਭੇਖ ਫਕੀਰਾ ॥
kaajee sekh; bhekh fakeeraa |
ਕਾਜ਼ੀ, ਸ਼ੇਖ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਲਿਬਾਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਕੀਰ,
The Qazis, Shaykhs and Fakeers in religious robes
ਵਡੇ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ; ਹਉਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਪੀਰਾ ॥
vadde kahaaveh; haumai tan peeraa |
ਪਰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਰਦ ਹੈ।
call themselves great; but through their egotism, their bodies are suffering in pain.
ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਛੋਡੈ; ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੭॥
kaal na chhoddai; bin satigur kee dheeraa |7|
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੌਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛਡਦੀ।
Death does not spare them, without the Support of the True Guru. ||7||
ਕਾਲੁ ਜਾਲੁ; ਜਿਹਵਾ ਅਰੁ ਨੈਣੀ ॥
kaal jaal; jihavaa ar nainee |
ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂੈਂ ਦੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੈ।
The trap of Death is hanging over their tongues and eyes.
ਕਾਨੀ ਕਾਲੁ; ਸੁਣੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਬੈਣੀ ॥
kaanee kaal; sunai bikh bainee |
ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਗੱਲ ਬਾਤ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Death is over their ears, when they hear talk of evil.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ; ਮੂਠੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣੀ ॥੮॥
bin sabadai; mootthe din rainee |8|
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Without the Shabad, they are plundered, day and night. ||8||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਸੈ; ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
hiradai saach vasai; har naae |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Death cannot touch those whose hearts are filled with the True Name of the Lord,
ਕਾਲੁ. ਨ ਜੋਹਿ ਸਕੈ; ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
kaal. na johi sakai; gun gaae |
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
And who sing the Glories of God.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੯॥੧੪॥
naanak; guramukh sabad samaae |9|14|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ-ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the Gurmukh is absorbed in the Word of the Shabad. ||9||14||

Gauree, First Mehl:
ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ; ਮਿਥਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਰਾਈ ॥
boleh saach; mithiaa nahee raaee |
ਜੋ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਝੂਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
They speak the Truth - not an iota of falsehood.
ਚਾਲਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ; ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
chaaleh guramukh; hukam rajaaee |
ਅਤੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਰਜਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਟੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Gurmukhs walk in the Way of the Lord's Command.
ਰਹਹਿ ਅਤੀਤ; ਸਚੇ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੧॥
raheh ateet; sache saranaaee |1|
ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਟੰਕ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
They remain unattached, in the Sanctuary of the True Lord. ||1||
ਸਚ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸੈ; ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥
sach ghar baisai; kaal na johai |
ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੂੰਹਦੀ।
They dwell in their true home, and Death does not touch them.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ; ਆਵਤ ਜਾਵਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
manamukh kau; aavat jaavat dukh mohai |1| rahaau |
ਅਧਰਮੀ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The self-willed manmukhs come and go, in the pain of emotional attachment. ||1||Pause||
ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਅਉ; ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥਿ ਰਹੀਐ ॥
apiau peeo; akath kath raheeai |
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
So, drink deeply of this Nectar, and speak the Unspoken Speech.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਸਿ; ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਲਹੀਐ ॥
nij ghar bais; sehaj ghar laheeai |
ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਧਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ, ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Dwelling in the home of your own being within, you shall find the home of intuitive peace.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਮਾਤੇ; ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥੨॥
har ras maate; ihu sukh kaheeai |2|
ਇਹ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਆਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜਿਆ ਹੈ।
One who is imbued with the Lord's sublime essence, is said to experience this peace. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਚਾਲ ਨਿਹਚਲ; ਨਹੀ ਡੋਲੈ ॥
guramat chaal nihachal; nahee ddolai |
ਜੀਵਨ ਰਹੁਰੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਢਾਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਅਹਿੱਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਡਿੱਕਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ।
Following the Guru's Teachings, one becomes perfectly stable, and never wavers.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ; ਸਾਚਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Following the Guru's Teachings, one intuitively chants the Name of the True Lord.
ਪੀਵੈ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ; ਤਤੁ ਵਿਰੋਲੈ ॥੩॥
peevai amrit; tat virolai |3|
ਉਹ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਰਿੜਕ ਕੇ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Drinking in this Ambrosial Nectar, and churning it, the essential reality is discerned. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ; ਦੀਖਿਆ ਲੀਨੀ ॥
satigur dekhiaa; deekhiaa leenee |
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
Beholding the True Guru, I have received His Teachings.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਓ; ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
man tan arapio; antaragat keenee |
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
I have offered my mind and body, after searching deep within my own being.
ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ; ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨੀ ॥੪॥
gat mit paaee; aatam cheenee |4|
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
I have come to realize the value of understanding my own soul. ||4||
ਭੋਜਨੁ; ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
bhojan; naam niranjan saar |
ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰੇਮ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਖਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
The Naam, the Name of the Immaculate Lord, is the most excellent and sublime food.
ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸੁ; ਸਚੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਅਨੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਹੈ।
The pure swan-souls see the True Light of the Infinite Lord.
ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ; ਤਹ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
jeh dekhau; teh ekankaar |5|
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Wherever I look, I see the One and Only Lord. ||5||
ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ; ਏਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
rahai niraalam; ekaa sach karanee |
ਜੋ ਬੇਦਾਗ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who remains pure and unblemished and practices only true deeds,
ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ॥
param pad paaeaa; sevaa gur charanee |
ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਦਾ ਹੈ।
obtains the supreme status, serving at the Guru's Feet.
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ; ਚੂਕੀ ਅਹੰ ਭ੍ਰਮਣੀ ॥੬॥
man te man maaniaa; chookee ahan bhramanee |6|
ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਦੀ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਣ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
The mind is reconciliated with the mind, and the ego's wandering ways come to an end. ||6||
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ; ਕਉਣੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
ein bidh; kaun kaun nahee taariaa |
ਇਸ ਰੀਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ?
In this way, who - who has not been saved?
ਹਰਿ ਜਸਿ; ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
har jas; sant bhagat nisataariaa |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord's Praises have saved His Saints and devotees.
