ਤਤੁ ਨ ਚੀਨਹਿ; ਬੰਨਹਿ ਪੰਡ ਪਰਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
tat na cheeneh; baneh pandd paraalaa |2|
ਉਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਘਾਹ ਫੂਸ ਦੀ ਗਠੜੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ।
They do not understand the essence of reality, and they gather their worthless bundles of straw. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਿ; ਕੁਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
manamukh agiaan; kumaarag paae |
ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukhs, in ignorance, take the path of evil.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਆ; ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਦਿ੍ਰੜਾਏ ॥
har naam bisaariaa; bahu karam drirraae |
ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੁਟ ਕੇ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They forget the Lord's Name, and in its place, they establish all sorts of rituals.
ਭਵਜਲਿ ਡੂਬੇ; ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ॥੩॥
bhavajal ddoobe; doojai bhaae |3|
ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They drown in the terrifying world-ocean, in the love of duality. ||3||
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ; ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
maaeaa kaa muhataaj; panddit kahaavai |
ਧੰਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਲੋੜਵੰਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Driven crazy, infatuated by Maya, they call themselves Pandits - religious scholars;
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਾਤਾ; ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
bikhiaa raataa; bahut dukh paavai |
ਪਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਬੜਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
stained with corruption, they suffer terrible pain.
ਜਮ ਕਾ ਗਲਿ ਜੇਵੜਾ; ਨਿਤ ਕਾਲੁ ਸੰਤਾਵੈ ॥੪॥
jam kaa gal jevarraa; nit kaal santaavai |4|
ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਜੱਲਾਦ ਦਾ ਰੱਸਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗਰਦਨ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The noose of the Messenger of Death is around their necks; they are constantly tormented by death. ||4||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ; ਜਮਕਾਲੁ. ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਮਰਪਨਾ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦਾ!
The Messenger of Death does not even approach the Gurmukhs.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਜਾ; ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਵੈ ॥
haumai doojaa; sabad jalaavai |
ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of the Shabad, they burn away their ego and duality.
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ; ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੫॥
naame raate; har gun gaavai |5|
ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Attuned to the Name, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||5||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾਸੀ; ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
maaeaa daasee; bhagataa kee kaar kamaavai |
ਮੋਹਨੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਨਰਾਗੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Maya is the slave of the Lord's devotees; it works for them.
ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ; ਤਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
charanee laagai; taa mehal paavai |
ਜੇਕਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who falls at their feet attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
sad hee niramal; sehaj samaavai |6|
ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is forever immaculate; he is absorbed in intuitive peace. ||6||
ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਹਿ; ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਦਿਸਹਿ ਜੁਗ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
har kathaa suneh; se dhanavant diseh jug maahee |
ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਲਦਾਰ ਦਿਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who listen to the Lord's Sermon are seen to be the wealthy people in this world.
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਵਹਿ; ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਹੀ ॥
tin kau sabh niveh; anadin pooj karaahee |
ਸਾਰੇ ੳਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਹਨ।
Everyone bows down to them, and adores them, night and day.
ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ; ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੭॥
sahaje gun raveh saache; man maahee |7|
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਤੇ ਸਿਧ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They intuitively savor the Glories of the True Lord within their minds. ||7||
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ; ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
poorai satigur; sabad sunaaeaa |
ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ,
The Perfect True Guru has revealed the Shabad;
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਟੇ; ਚਉਥੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
trai gun mette; chauthai chit laaeaa |
ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਤਿੰਨ ਅਵਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਚੌਥੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
it eradicates the three qualities, and attunes the consciousness to the fourth state.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ; ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੪॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, subduing egotism, one is absorbed into God. ||8||4||

ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵੇਦੁ ਪੜੈ; ਵਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
brahamaa ved parrai; vaad vakhaanai |
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਰਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੇਦ ਵਾਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਝਗੜੇ ਝਾਂਜੇ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Brahma studied the Vedas, but these lead only to debates and disputes.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਾਮਸੁ; ਆਪੁ. ਨ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
antar taamas; aap. na pachhaanai |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
He is filled with darkness; he does not understand himself.
ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਏ; ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੧॥
taa prabh paae; gurasabad vakhaanai |1|
ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
And yet, if he chants the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he finds God. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਉ; ਫਿਰਿ. ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥
gur sevaa krau; fir. kaal na khaae |
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾ, ਤਦ ਮੌਤ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਵੇਗੀ।
So serve the Guru, and you shall not be consumed by death.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਖਾਧੇ; ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
manamukh khaadhe; doojai bhaae |1| rahaau |
ਹੋਰਸੁ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਅਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The self-willed manmukhs have been consumed by the love of duality. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ; ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਸੀਧੇ ॥
guramukh praanee; aparaadhee seedhe |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Becoming Gurmukh, the sinful mortals are purified.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ; ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਰੀਧੇ ॥
gur kai sabad; antar sehaj reedhe |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they find intuitive peace and poise deep within.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੀਧੇ ॥੨॥
meraa prabh paaeaa; gur kai sabad seedhe |2|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੁਧਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
I have found my God, through the Guru's Shabad, and I have been reformed. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ; ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
satigur mele; prabh aap milaae |
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
God Himself unites us in Union with the True Guru,
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੈ; ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
mere prabh saache kai; man bhaae |
ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲਗਣ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
when we become pleasing to the Mind of my True God.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੩॥
har gun gaaveh; sehaj subhaae |3|
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਉਹ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, in the poise of celestial peace. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ; ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
bin gur saache; bharam bhulaae |
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਵਹਿਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Without the True Guru, they are deluded by doubt.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ; ਸਦਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਏ ॥
manamukh andhe; sadaa bikh khaae |
ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ-ਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The blind, self-willed manmukhs constantly eat poison.
ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਸਹਹਿ; ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥
jam ddandd saheh; sadaa dukh paae |4|
ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਦਾ ਡੰਡਾ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
They are beaten by the Messenger of Death with his rod, and they suffer in constant pain. ||4||
ਜਮੂਆ. ਨ ਜੋਹੈ; ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
jamooaa. na johai; har kee saranaaee |
ਜੇਕਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈ ਲਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਕਾਉਂਦਾ।
The Messenger of Death does not catch sight of those who enter the Sanctuary of the Lord.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ; ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
haumai maar; sach liv laaee |
ਆਪਣੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Subduing egotism, they lovingly center their consciousness on the True Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ; ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੫॥
sadaa rahai; har naam liv laaee |5|
ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜੀ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
They keep their consciousness constantly focused on the Lord's Name. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ; ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਵਿਤਾ ॥
satigur seveh; se jan niramal pavitaa |
ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਬੇਦਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ।
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are pure and immaculate.
ਮਨ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ; ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥
man siau man milaae; sabh jag jeetaa |
ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Merging their minds into the Mind, they conquer the entire world.
ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਤੇਰੈ; ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੬॥
ein bidh kusal terai; mere meetaa |6|
ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ!
In this way, you too shall find happiness, O my friend. ||6||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਵੇ; ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
satiguroo seve; so fal paae |
ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੇਵੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those who serve the True Guru are blessed with fruitful rewards.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ; ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
hiradai naam; vichahu aap gavaae |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides in their hearts; selfishness and conceit depart from within them.
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ; ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਏ ॥੭॥
anahad baanee; sabad vajaae |7|
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਤੇ ਸਿਧ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗੂੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ।
The unstruck melody of the Shabad vibrates for them. ||7||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ; ਕਵਨੁ ਕਵਨੁ. ਨ ਸੀਧੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
satigur te; kavan kavan. na seedho mere bhaaee |
ਕੌਣ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਧਾਰੇ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ!
Who - who has not been purified by the True Guru, O my Siblings of Destiny?
ਭਗਤੀ ਸੀਧੇ; ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
bhagatee seedhe; dar sobhaa paaee |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਰੁਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The devotees are purified, and honored in His Court.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੮॥੫॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, greatness is in the Lord's Name. ||8||5||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤੀਜੀ।
Gauree, Third Mehl:
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਵਖਾਣੈ; ਭਰਮੁ. ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
trai gun vakhaanai; bharam. na jaae |
ਜੋ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Those who speak of the three qualities - their doubts do not depart.
ਬੰਧਨ. ਨ ਤੂਟਹਿ; ਮੁਕਤਿ. ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
bandhan. na tootteh; mukat. na paae |
ਉਸਦੇ ਜੂੜ ਕਟੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Their bonds are not broken, and they do not obtain liberation.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ; ਜੁਗ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

ਮੋਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਯੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ।
The True Guru is the Bestower of liberation in this age. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ; ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
guramukh praanee; bharam gavaae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੇ ਜੀਵ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇ।
Those mortals who become Gurmukh give up their doubts.
ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ; ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sehaj dhun upajai; har liv laae |1| rahaau |
ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The celestial music wells up, when they lovingly attune their consciousness to the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ; ਕਾਲੈ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
trai gun; kaalai kee sir kaaraa |
ਜੋ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਸੁਭਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਰਿਆਇਆ ਹਨ।
Those who are controlled by the three qualities have death hovering over their heads.
