Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਉਹ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The One Lord is the Creator of all things, the Cause of causes.

ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨਤਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself is wisdom, contemplation and discerning understanding.

ਉਹ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਥ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

He is not far away; He is near at hand, with all.

ਸੱਚੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰ।

So praise the True One, O Nanak, with love! ||8||1||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Serving the Guru, one is committed to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।

It is received only by those who have such good destiny inscribed upon their foreheads.

ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ,

The Lord dwells within their hearts.

ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਸ਼ਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Their minds and bodies become peaceful and stable. ||1||

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ,

O my mind, sing such Praises of the Lord,

ਜਿਹੜੀ ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਵੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

which shall be of use to you here and hereafter. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਡਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,

Meditating on Him, fear and misfortune depart,

ਅਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

and the wandering mind is held steady.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਿਮੜਦੀ।

Meditating on Him, suffering shall never again overtake you.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਇਹ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, this ego runs away. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੰਜ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Meditating on Him, the five passions are overcome.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹਰੀ-ਰਸ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੰਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, Ambrosial Nectar is collected in the heart.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, this desire is quenched.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ, ਬੰਦਾ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, one is approved in the Court of the Lord. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Meditating on Him, millions of mistakes are erased.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਬੰਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, one becomes Holy, blessed by the Lord.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮਨੂਆ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, the mind is cooled and soothed.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਸਾਰੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, all filth is washed away. ||4||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, the jewel of the Lord is obtained.

ਆਦਮੀ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਗਿਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One is reconciled with the Lord, and shall not abandon Him again.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਸੁਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Meditating on Him, many acquire a home in the heavens.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, one abides in intuitive peace. ||5||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਇਹ ਅੱਗ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ।

Meditating on Him, one is not affected by this fire.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਇਹ ਮੌਤ ਤਕਾਉਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

Meditating on Him, one is not under the gaze of Death.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਬੇਦਾਗ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

Meditating on Him, your forehead shall be immaculate.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁਖੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, all pains are destroyed. ||6||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਔਕੜ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।

Meditating on Him, no difficulties are encountered.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਬੰਦਾ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, one hears the unstruck melody.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੁਹਰਤ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, one acquires this pure reputation.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਦਿਲ ਕੰਵਲ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on Him, the heart-lotus is turned upright. ||7||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਧਾਰੀ ਹੈ,

The Guru has bestowed His Glance of Grace upon all,

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

within whose hearts the Lord has implanted His Mantra.

ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਫ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਚੁਰਮੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ,

The unbroken Kirtan of the Lord's Praises is their food and nourishment.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਰਹਿਬਰ ਹਨ।

Says Nanak, they have the Perfect True Guru. ||8||2||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Those who implant the Word of the Guru's Shabad within their hearts

ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਵੇਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੰਬਧ ਤੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

cut their connections with the five passions.

ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਸੇ (ਪੰਜ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਪੰਜ ਕਰਮ) ਇੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

They keep the ten organs under their control;

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੱਬੀ ਨੂਰ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

their souls are enlightened. ||1||

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਪਕਿਆਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,

They alone acquire such stability,

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਸ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

whom God blesses with His Mercy and Grace. ||1||Pause||

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਦੋਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਇਕ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹਨ।

Friend and foe are one and the same to them.

ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਉਹ ਕਥਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਹੈ।

Whatever they speak is wisdom.

ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਉਹ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ।

Whatever they hear is the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਉਹ ਵੇਖਦਾ, ਉਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਅਨੁਭਵਤਾ ਹੈ।

Whatever they see is meditation. ||2||

ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੈ।

They awaken in peace and poise; they sleep in peace and poise.

ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੋਣ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ।

That which is meant to be, automatically happens.

ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

In peace and poise, they remain detached; in peace and poise, they laugh.

ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਚੁਪ ਚਾਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In peace and poise, they remain silent; in peace and poise, they chant. ||3||

ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In peace and poise they eat; in peace and poise they love.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਪੜਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The illusion of duality is easily and totally removed.

ਉਹ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ, ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

They naturally join the Saadh Sangat, the Society of the Holy.

ਅਡੋਲ ਹੀ, ਉਹ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਰੋਕ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

In peace and poise, they meet and merge with the Supreme Lord God. ||4||

ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

They are at peace in their homes, and they are at peace while detached.
