ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਠ- ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਦਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੁਖਾਉਂਦੇ,

T'HAT'HA: Those who have abandoned all else,

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹਨ।

and who cling to the One Lord alone, do not make trouble for anyone's mind.

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਧੰਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਉਲਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ,

Those who are totally absorbed and preoccupied with Maya are dead;

ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।

they do not find happiness anywhere.

ਜੋ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੀਤਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

One who dwells in the Society of the Saints finds a great peace;

ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam becomes sweet to his soul.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ,

That humble being, who is pleasing to his Lord and Master

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਠੰਡਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

- O Nanak, his mind is cooled and soothed. ||28||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਮੈਂ ਲੰਮੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਨਮਸ਼ਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ, ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੁਹਰੇ, ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I bow down, and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-powerful Lord, who possesses all powers.

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੇ ਡਿਕੋਡੋਲੇ ਖਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Please protect me, and save me from wandering, God. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਡ-ਤੇਰਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ, ਜਿਥੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।

DADDA: This is not your true place; you must know where that place really is.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਜਾਣ ਲੈ।

You shall come to realize the way to that place, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਇਹ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਮੁਸ਼ੱਕਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

This place, here, is established by hard work,

ਇਸ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ।

but not one iota of this shall go there with you.

ਉਸ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,

The value of that place beyond is known only to those,

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਮਾਲਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

upon whom the Perfect Lord God casts His Glance of Grace.

ਇਹ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮੁਸਤਕਿਲ ਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

That permanent and true place is obtained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;

ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਹ ਗੋਲੇ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਡਿਕੋਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦੇ।

O Nanak, those humble beings do not waver or wander. ||29||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਜਦ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜਾ ਗਿਰਾਉਣ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

When the Righteous Judge of Dharma begins to destroy someone, no one can place any obstacle in His Way.

ਜੋ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਤਾ ਗੰਢ ਕੇ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਹ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, those who join the Saadh Sangat and meditate on the Lord are saved. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਢ-ਤੂੰ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ? ਢੂੰਢ ਭਾਲ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ।

DHADHA: Where are you going, wandering and searching? Search instead within your own mind.

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਜੰਗਲ ਜੰਗਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ?

God is with you, so why do you wander around from forest to forest?

ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਟਿੱਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਧਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇ।

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, tear down the mound of your frightful, egotistical pride.

ਇੰਜ ਤੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾਵੇਗਾ, ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

You shall find peace, and abide in intuitive bliss; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan, you shall be delighted.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਅੰਬਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਤੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚੇਦਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ!

One who has such a mound as this, dies and suffers the pain of reincarnation through the womb.

ਜੋ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਤਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਾਬਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who is intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in egotism, selfishness and conceit, shall continue coming and going in reincarnation.

ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਧੀਰੇ ਧੀਰੇ, ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ।

Slowly and steadily, I have now surrendered to the Holy Saints; I have come to their Sanctuary.

ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕਟ ਛੱਡੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

God has cut away the noose of my pain; O Nanak, He has merged me into Himself. ||30||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਥੇ ਸੰਤ, ਨਿਤਾਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਜੱਸ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Where the Holy people constantly vibrate the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, O Nanak

ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, "ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ, ਹੈ ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਓ! ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ, ਨਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ ਛੁਟੇਗਾ।"

- the Righteous Judge says, "Do not approach that place, O Messenger of Death, or else neither you nor I shall escape!" ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਣ-ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

NANNA: One who conquers his own soul, wins the battle of life.

ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਦਾ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who dies, while fighting against egotism and alienation, becomes sublime and beautiful.

ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who eradicates his ego, remains dead while yet alive, through the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.

ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਫਤਹ ਕਰ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।

He conquers his mind, and meets the Lord; he is dressed in robes of honor.

ਕਿਸੇ ਸ਼ੈ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ। ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

He does not claim anything as his own; the One Lord is his Anchor and Support.

ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Night and day, he continually contemplates the Almighty, Infinite Lord God.

ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਅਮਲ ਉਹ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He makes his mind the dust of all; such is the karma of the deeds he does.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

Understanding the Hukam of the Lord's Command, he attains everlasting peace. O Nanak, such is his pre-ordained destiny. ||31||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ, ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ!

I offer my body, mind and wealth to anyone who can unite me with God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਫਰੇਸ਼ਤਾ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਕਾਉਂਦਾ।

O Nanak, my doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਤ- ਉਸ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾ ਜੋ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ।

TATTA: Embrace love for the Treasure of Excellence, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਲਣ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਏਗੀ।

You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires, and your burning thirst shall be quenched.
