ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਮਾਲਕ!

Please shower me with Your Mercy, O Lord God!

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਘਨੇਰੀ ਅਕਲਮੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਲਾਕੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,

I have given up my excessive cleverness and scheming,

ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

and I have taken the support of the Saints as my mind's support.

ਸੁਆਹ ਦੀ ਪੁਤਲੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਇਮਦਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,

Even a puppet of ashes attains the supreme status,

ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

O Nanak, if it has the help and support of the Saints. ||23||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਜੋਰਾਵਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਤਿਆਚਾਰ ਕਮਾ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਬੜਾ ਹੀ ਫੁਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੋਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Practicing oppression and tyranny, he puffs himself up; he acts in corruption with his frail, perishable body.

ਹੰਕਾਰੀ-ਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਨਰੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

He is bound by his egotistical intellect; O Nanak, salvation comes only through the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਜ-ਜਦ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਝ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ,

JAJJA: When someone, in his ego, believes that he has become something,

ਗਲਤ-ਫਹਿਮੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਤੋਤੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਕੁੜਿੱਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

he is caught in his error, like a parrot in a trap.

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮਬੇਤਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he believes, in his ego, that he is a devotee and a spiritual teacher,

ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਕੂੰਜਦ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਭੀ ਮਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ।

then, in the world hereafter, the Lord of the Universe shall have no regard for him at all.

ਜਦ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਕ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

When he believes himself to be a preacher,

ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਾਪੁਰਾ ਇਕ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

he is merely a peddler wandering over the earth.

ਜੋ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

But one who conquers his ego in the Company of the Holy,

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਰ (ਰਾਖਸ਼) ਦੇ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, meets the Lord. ||24||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਾਗ, ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।

Rise early in the morning, and chant the Naam; worship and adore the Lord, night and day.

ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਫਿਕਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ।

Anxiety shall not afflict you, O Nanak, and your misfortune shall vanish. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਝ - ਤੇਰਾ ਪਸਚਾਤਾਪ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ,

JHAJHA: Your sorrows shall depart,

ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ-ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ।

when you deal with the Lord's Name.

ਉਹ ਬੜੇ ਰੰਜ-ਗ਼ਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

The faithless cynic dies in sorrow and pain;

ਜਿਸ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ।

his heart is filled with the love of duality.

ਤੇਰੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਝੜ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ,

Your evil deeds and sins shall fall away, O my mind,

ਸਤ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਧਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਰੱਬੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਸੁਣਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ।

listening to the ambrosial speech in the Society of the Saints.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਭੋਗ, ਅਤੇ ਕੁਟਲਤਾਈਆਂ ਝੜ ਪੈਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,

Sexual desire, anger and wickedness fall away,

ਨਾਨਕ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਦਇਆਲਤਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, from those who are blessed by the Mercy of the Lord of the World. ||25||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕਰੇ, ਤੂੰ ਠਹਿਰਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਵੇਗਾ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ!

You can try all sorts of things, but you still cannot remain here, my friend.

ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੇ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਜੀਊਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ।

But you shall live forevermore, O Nanak, if you vibrate and love the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਇਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਠੀਕ ਜਾਣ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਟੁਟ ਜਾਏਗੀ।

NYANYA: Know this as absolutely correct, that that this ordinary love shall come to an end.

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਗਿਣਤੀਆਂ ਪਿਆ ਕਰਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਗਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਕੁ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਟੁਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ?

You may count and calculate as much as you want, but you cannot count how many have arisen and departed.

ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੀਹਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਂ?

Whoever I see shall perish. With whom should I associate?

ਇਸ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਰੁਸਤ ਜਾਣ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੂੜੀ ਹੈ।

Know this as true in your consciousness, that the love of Maya is false.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

He alone knows, and he alone is a Saint, who is free of doubt.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਅਨ੍ਹੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਖਿਚ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

He is lifted up and out of the deep dark pit; the Lord is totally pleased with him.

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਣ ਦੇ ਲਾਇਕ ਹੈ।

God's Hand is All-powerful; He is the Creator, the Cause of causes.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, praise the One, who joins us to Himself. ||26||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਸੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਣ ਦੇ ਜੂੜ ਵੱਢੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

The bondage of birth and death is broken and peace is obtained, by serving the Holy.

ਰੱਬ ਕਰੇ, ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁੱਲੇ।

O Nanak, may I never forget from my mind, the Treasure of Virtue, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਖਾਲੀ ਹੱਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੜਦਾ।

Work for the One Lord; no one returns empty-handed from Him.

ਜੇਕਰ ਹਰੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ, ਦੇਹਿ ਮੂੰਹ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

When the Lord abides within your mind, body, mouth and heart, then whatever you desire shall come to pass.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੈ।

He alone obtains the Lord's service, and the Mansion of His Presence, unto whom the Holy Saint is compassionate.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦੋ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, only when the Lord Himself shows His Mercy.

ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਹਾਨ ਖੋਜੇ ਭਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਨਹੀਂ।

I have searched and searched, across so many worlds, but without the Name, there is no peace.

ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੀ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Messenger of Death retreats from those who dwell in the Saadh Sangat.

ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਘੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

Again and again, I am forever devoted to the Saints.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰੇ ਕਦੇ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, my sins from so long ago have been erased. ||27||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

Those beings, with whom the Lord is thoroughly pleased, meet with no obstacles at His Door.

ਮੁਬਾਰਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Those humble beings whom God has made His own, O Nanak, are blessed, so very blessed. ||1||
