ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟੈ. ਜਮ ਪੰਥ ਕੀ; ਜਾਸੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
traas mittai. jam panth kee; jaas basai man naau |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੜਕ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ।
One whose heart is filled with the Name shall have no fear on the path of death.
ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ. ਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਮਹਲੀ; ਪਾਵਹਿ ਠਾਉ ॥

ਉਹ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏਗਾ।
He shall obtain salvation, and his intellect shall be enlightened; he will find his place in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਤਾਹੂ ਸੰਗਿ. ਨ ਧਨੁ ਚਲੈ; ਗਿ੍ਰਹ ਜੋਬਨ ਨਹ ਰਾਜ ॥
taahoo sang. na dhan chalai; grih joban neh raaj |
ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਂ ਦੌਲਤ, ਨਾਂ ਘਰ, ਨਾਂ ਜੁਆਨੀ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
Neither wealth, nor household, nor youth, nor power shall go along with you.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹਹੁ; ਇਹੈ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਕਾਜ ॥
santasang simarat rahahu; ihai tuhaarai kaaj |
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਏਗਾ।
In the Society of the Saints, meditate in remembrance on the Lord. This alone shall be of use to you.
ਤਾਤਾ. ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ; ਜਉ ਤਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਆਪ ॥
taataa. kachhoo na hoee hai; jau taap nivaarai aap |
ਜਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਉਤਾਰੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਹੰਢੋ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸੜੇਵਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
There will be no burning at all, when He Himself takes away your fever.
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮਹਿ; ਆਪਹਿ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੩੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਪੋਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਅੰਮੜੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the Lord Himself cherishes us; He is our Mother and Father. ||32||

ਥਾਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਘਾਲਤੇ; ਤਿ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਨ ਤਿ੍ਰਸਨਾ ਲਾਥ ॥
thaake bahu bidh ghaalate; tripat na trisanaa laath |
ਅਧਰਮੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਾਰ ਹੁੱਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰੇਹ ਬੁੱਝੀ ਹੈ।
They have grown weary, struggling in all sorts of ways; but they are not satisfied, and their thirst is not quenched.
ਸੰਚਿ ਸੰਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਏ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਮਾਇਆ ਨ ਸਾਥ ॥੧॥

ਇਕੱਠੀ ਤੇ ਇਕੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲ ਧਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
Gathering in and hoarding what they can, the faithless cynics die, O Nanak, but the wealth of Maya does not go with them in the end. ||1||

ਥਥਾ. ਥਿਰੁ ਕੋਊ ਨਹੀ; ਕਾਇ ਪਸਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਵ ॥

ਥ-ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਖਿਲਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
T'HAT'HA: Nothing is permanent - why do you stretch out your feet?
ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਚ. ਬਲ ਛਲ ਕਰਹੁ; ਮਾਇਆ ਏਕ ਉਪਾਵ ॥

ਕੇਵਲ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਤੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਠੱਗੀਆਂ-ਬੱਗੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
You commit so many fraudulent and deceitful actions as you chase after Maya.
ਥੈਲੀ ਸੰਚਹੁ. ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਹੁ; ਥਾਕਿ ਪਰਹੁ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

ਤੂੰ ਗੁਥਲੀ ਭਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੁਸ਼ੱਕਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਹਾਰ ਹੁਟ ਕੇ ਡਿਗ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
You work to fill up your bag, you fool, and then you fall down exhausted.
ਮਨ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ. ਨ ਆਵਈ; ਅੰਤੇ ਅਉਸਰ ਬਾਰ ॥
man kai kaam. na aavee; ante aausar baar |
ਉਹ ਅਖੀਰ ਦੇ ਮੂਹਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣੀ।
But this shall be of no use to you at all at that very last instant.
ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਹੁ; ਸੰਤਹ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਲੇਹੁ ॥
thit paavahu gobid bhajahu; santah kee sikh lehu |
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਅਸਥਿਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
You shall find stability only by vibrating upon the Lord of the Universe, and accepting the Teachings of the Saints.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਦ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ; ਇਆ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਸਨੇਹੁ ॥

ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾ! ਏਹੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੈ।
Embrace love for the One Lord forever - this is true love!
ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨੋ; ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਏਕੈ ਹਾਥ ॥
kaaran karan karaavano; sabh bidh ekai haath |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਯੁਕਤੀਆਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।
He is the Doer, the Cause of causes. All ways and means are in His Hands alone.
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ, ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਹਿ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਜੰਤ ਅਨਾਥ ॥੩੩॥
jit jit laavahu, tith tit lageh; naanak. jant anaath |33|
ਜਿਥੇ ਜਿਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਜੀਵ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਿਹੱਥਲ ਹੈ।
Whatever You attach me to, to that I am attached; O Nanak, I am just a helpless creature. ||33||

ਦਾਸਹ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਆ; ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ॥

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੋਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
His slaves have gazed upon the One Lord, the Giver of everything.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹਹਿ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਦਰਸ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੧॥
saas saas simarat raheh; naanak. daras adhaar |1|
ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
They continue to contemplate Him with each and every breath; O Nanak, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is their Support. ||1||

ਦਦਾ. ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ; ਸਭ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ॥

ਦ-ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
DADDA: The One Lord is the Great Giver; He is the Giver to all.
ਦੇਂਦੇ. ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ; ਅਗਨਤ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
dende. tott na aavee; aganat bhare bhanddaar |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਅਨਗਿਣਤ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ।
There is no limit to His Giving. His countless warehouses are filled to overflowing.
ਦੈਨਹਾਰੁ; ਸਦ ਜੀਵਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
dainahaar; sad jeevanahaaraa |
ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹੈ।
The Great Giver is alive forever.
ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ; ਕਿਉ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਾ ॥
man moorakh; kiau taeh bisaaraa |
ਹੈ ਮੂੜ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
O foolish mind, why have you forgotten Him?
ਦੋਸੁ ਨਹੀ; ਕਾਹੂ ਕਉ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
dos nahee; kaahoo kau meetaa |
ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਕਸੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ!
No one is at fault, my friend.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ; ਬੰਧੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਤਾ ॥

ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
God created the bondage of emotional attachment to Maya.
ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪੇ ॥
darad nivaareh jaa ke aape |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He Himself removes the pains of the Gurmukh;
ਨਾਨਕ; ਤੇ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੩੪॥
naanak; te te guramukh dhraape |34|
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ-ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
O Nanak, he is fulfilled. ||34||

ਧਰ ਜੀਅਰੇ ਇਕ ਟੇਕ ਤੂ; ਲਾਹਿ ਬਿਡਾਨੀ ਆਸ ॥

ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਪਕੜ। ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ।
O my soul, grasp the Support of the One Lord; give up your hopes in others.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ; ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੰਮ ਠੀਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||

ਧਧਾ, ਧਾਵਤ ਤਉ ਮਿਟੈ; ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਾਸੁ ॥

ਧ- ਕੇਵਲ ਤਦੇ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਣ ਮੁਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
DHADHA: The mind's wanderings cease, when one comes to dwell in the Society of the Saints.
ਧੁਰ ਤੇ. ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਆਪਿ; ਤਉ ਹੋਇ ਮਨਹਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
dhur te. kirapaa karahu aap; tau hoe maneh paragaas |
ਜੇਕਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਖੁਦ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੇ ਤਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਹਕਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
If the Lord is Merciful from the very beginning, then one's mind is enlightened.
ਧਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ; ਤੇਊ ਸਚ ਸਾਹਾ ॥
dhan saachaa; teaoo sach saahaa |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਸੱਚੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਹਨ।
Those who have the true wealth are the true bankers.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ; ਨਾਮ ਬਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
har har poonjee; naam bisaahaa |
ਮਾਲਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਕਮ-ਰਾਸ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Lord, Har, Har, is their wealth, and they trade in His Name.
ਧੀਰਜੁ ਜਸੁ ਸੋਭਾ; ਤਿਹ ਬਨਿਆ ॥
dheeraj jas sobhaa; tih baniaa |
ਸਹਿਨਸ਼ਕਤੀ, ਉਪਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਬਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
Patience, glory and honor come to those
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ; ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਜਿਹ ਸੁਨਿਆ ॥
har har naam; sravan jih suniaa |
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
who listen to the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਹ ਘਟਿ; ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
guramukh jih ghatt; rahe samaaee |
ਜਿਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੁਖੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
That Gurmukh whose heart remains merged with the Lord,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਜਨ; ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੩੫॥
naanak tih jan; milee vaddaaee |35|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, obtains glorious greatness. ||35||

O Nanak, one who chants the Naam, and meditates on the Naam with love inwardly and outwardly,
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ; ਨਰਕੁ ਨਾਹਿ. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
gur poorai upadesiaa; narak naeh. saadhasang |1|
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੋਜਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ।
receives the Teachings from the Perfect Guru; he joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and does not fall into hell. ||1||

NANNA: Those whose minds and bodies are filled with the Naam,

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Name of the Lord, shall not fall into hell.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋ ਜਪਤੇ ॥
naam nidhaan; guramukh jo japate |
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Those Gurmukhs who chant the treasure of the Naam,
ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ; ਨਾ ਓਇ ਖਪਤੇ ॥
bikh maaeaa meh; naa oe khapate |
ਉਹ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ।
are not destroyed by the poison of Maya.
ਨੰਨਾਕਾਰੁ; ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਤਾ ਕਹੁ ॥
nanaakaar; na hotaa taa kahu |
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
Those who have been given the Mantra of the Naam by the Guru,
ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ; ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਾ ਕਹੁ ॥
naam mantru; gur deeno jaa kahu |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਦੂ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ।
