ਨਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ; ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

ਜੋ ਮਾਲ ਮਿਲਖ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹਨ,
They are filled and fulfilled with the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, the Treasure of sublime wealth;
ਤਹ ਬਾਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ; ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰੇ ॥੩੬॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵੱਜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਗੀਤਕ ਸਾਜ਼-ਵਜਦੇ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, the unstruck celestial melody vibrates for them. ||36||

ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ; ਤਜਿ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥

ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਖੰਡ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਬਚਾ ਲਈ।
The Guru, the Supreme Lord God, preserved my honor, when I renounced hypocrisy, emotional attachment and corruption.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਸੋਊ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ; ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

ਪ-ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
PAPPA: He is beyond estimation; His limits cannot be found.
ਪਤਿਤ. ਪਾਵਨ; ਅਗਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The Sovereign Lord King is inaccessible;
ਹੋਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ; ਕੋਟ ਅਪਰਾਧੂ ॥
hot puneet; kott aparaadhoo |
ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
He is the Purifier of sinners. Millions of sinners are purified;
ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹਿ; ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ॥
amrit naam japeh; mil saadhoo |
ਜੋ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ, ਸੁਧਾ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
they meet the Holy, and chant the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਪਰਪਚ ਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਮੋਹ; ਮਿਟਨਾਈ ॥
parapach dhroh moh; mittanaaee |
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਕਪਟ, ਧੋਖਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Deception, fraud and emotional attachment are eliminated,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ; ਆਪਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
jaa kau raakhahu; aap gusaaee |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ।
by those who are protected by the Lord of the World.
ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਰ ਸੋਊ ॥

ਓਹੀ ਸੀਸ ਉਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਨਾ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ।
He is the Supreme King, with the royal canopy above His Head.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਦੂਸਰ ਅਵਰੁ. ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥੩੭॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਫਾਹੇ ਕਾਟੇ. ਮਿਟੇ ਗਵਨ; ਫਤਿਹ ਭਈ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਤ ॥

ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੌਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕਟੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਭਟਕਣੇ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
The noose of Death is cut, and one's wanderings cease; victory is obtained, when one conquers his own mind.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਥਿਤ ਪਾਈ; ਫਿਰਨ ਮਿਟੇ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਿਹਚਲਤਾ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦਾ ਆਵਾਗਊਣ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, eternal stability is obtained from the Guru, and one's day-to-day wanderings cease. ||1||

ਫ- ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ।
FAFFA: After wandering and wandering for so long, you have come;
ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ; ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
drulabh deh; kalijug meh paaeaa |
ਇਸ ਕਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਂ ਹੱਥ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, you have obtained this human body, so very difficult to obtain.
ਫਿਰਿ ਇਆ ਅਉਸਰੁ; ਚਰੈ ਨ ਹਾਥਾ ॥
fir eaa aausar; charai na haathaa |
ਇਹ ਮੌਕਾ, ਮੁੜ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਣਾ।
This opportunity shall not come into your hands again.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ; ਤਉ ਕਟੀਅਹਿ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
naam japahu; tau katteeeh faasaa |
ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ, ਤਦ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਏਗੀ।
So chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and the noose of Death shall be cut away.
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੁ; ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
fir fir aavan jaan; na hoee |
ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ,
You shall not have to come and go in reincarnation over and over again,
ਏਕਹਿ ਏਕ; ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
ekeh ek; japahu jap soee |
ਉਸ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ।
if you chant and meditate on the One and Only Lord.
ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿ੍ਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ; ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੇ ॥
karahu kripaa prabh; karanaihaare |
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ! ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰ!
Shower Your Mercy, O God, Creator Lord,
ਮੇਲਿ ਲੇਹੁ; ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਚਾਰੇ ॥੩੮॥
mel lehu; naanak bechaare |38|
ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈ।
and unite poor Nanak with Yourself. ||38||

ਹੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਇਆਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਕ! ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ।
Hear my prayer, O Supreme Lord God, Merciful to the meek, Lord of the World.
ਸੁਖ ਸੰਪੈ ਬਹੁ ਭੋਗ ਰਸ; ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੧॥
sukh sanpai bahu bhog ras; naanak saadh ravaal |1|
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਈ ਆਰਾਮ, ਦੋਲਤ, ਭਾਰੀ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਹੈ।
The dust of the feet of the Holy is peace, wealth, great enjoyment and pleasure for Nanak. ||1||

ਬਬਾ. ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਾਨਤ; ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ॥

ਬ-ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮਣ ਹੈ।
BABBA: One who knows God is a Brahmin.
ਬੈਸਨੋ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਚ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
baisano te guramukh such dharamaa |
ਵੈਸ਼ਨੋ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
A Vaishnaav is one who, as Gurmukh, lives the righteous life of Dharma.
ਬੀਰਾ; ਆਪਨ ਬੁਰਾ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
beeraa; aapan buraa mittaavai |
ਸੂਰਮਾ ਉਹ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਟ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who eradicates his own evil is a brave warrior;
ਤਾਹੂ ਬੁਰਾ; ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥
taahoo buraa; nikatt nahee aavai |
ਹਾਨੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੀ।
no evil even approaches him.
ਬਾਧਿਓ ਆਪਨ; ਹਉ ਹਉ ਬੰਧਾ ॥
baadhio aapan; hau hau bandhaa |
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਊਮੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੰਜੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਕੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Man is bound by the chains of his own egotism, selfishness and conceit.
ਦੋਸੁ ਦੇਤ; ਆਗਹ ਕਉ ਅੰਧਾ ॥
dos det; aagah kau andhaa |
ਪਰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਉਤੇ ਇਲਜਾਮ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The spiritually blind place the blame on others.
ਬਾਤ ਚੀਤ; ਸਭ ਰਹੀ ਸਿਆਨਪ ॥
baat cheet; sabh rahee siaanap |
ਵਾਦ-ਵਿਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਚਲਾਕੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ।
But all debates and clever tricks are of no use at all.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਨਾਵਹੁ; ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਨਾਨਕ ॥੩੯॥
jiseh janaavahu; so jaanai naanak |39|
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, he alone comes to know, whom the Lord inspires to know. ||39||

ਦਿਲੋਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, ਜੋ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
The Destroyer of fear, the Eradicator of sin and sorrow - enshrine that Lord in your mind.
ਸੰਤਸੰਗ ਜਿਹ ਰਿਦ ਬਸਿਓ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਤੇ ਨ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ॥੧॥
santasang jih rid basio; naanak. te na bhrame |1|
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
One whose heart abides in the Society of the Saints, O Nanak, does not wander around in doubt. ||1||

BHABHA: Cast out your doubt and delusion

ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
this world is just a dream.
ਭਰਮੇ; ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
bharame; sur nar devee devaa |
ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼, ਭਵਾਨੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਨ।
The angelic beings, goddesses and gods are deluded by doubt.
ਭਰਮੇ; ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇਵਾ ॥
bharame; sidh saadhik brahamevaa |
ਵਹਿਮ ਦੇ ਬਹਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਅਭਿਆਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਤਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਦੇਵਤਾ।
The Siddhas and seekers, and even Brahma are deluded by doubt.
ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਿ; ਮਾਨੁਖ ਡਹਕਾਏ ॥
bharam bharam; maanukh ddahakaae |
ਗਲਤ-ਫਹਿਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਟੱਕਰਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Wandering around, deluded by doubt, people are ruined.
ਦੁਤਰ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮ; ਇਹ ਮਾਏ ॥
dutar mahaa bikham; ih maae |
ਬੜਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਨਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ।
It is so very difficult and treacherous to cross over this ocean of Maya.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ; ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੈ ਮੋਹ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਵਹਿਮ, ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਟ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ,
That Gurmukh who has eradicated doubt, fear and attachment,
ਨਾਨਕ. ਤੇਹ; ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪੦॥

ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਆਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
O Nanak, obtains supreme peace. ||40||

ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨੂਆਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰਾਂ ਡਿਕਡੋਲੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਚਿਮੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
Maya clings to the mind, and causes it to waver in so many ways.
ਮਾਗਨ. ਤੇ ਜਿਹ ਤੁਮ ਰਖਹੁ; ਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮਹਿ ਰੰਗ ॥੧॥
maagan. te jih tum rakhahu; su naanak. naameh rang |1|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਧੰਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਮੰਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When You, O Lord, restrain someone from asking for wealth, then, O Nanak, he comes to love the Name. ||1||

ਜੋ ਦੀਨੋ; ਸੋ ਏਕਹਿ ਬਾਰ ॥
jo deeno; so ekeh baar |
ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਵਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Whatever He gives, He gives once and for all.
ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ; ਕਹ ਕਰਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥
man moorakh; keh kareh pukaar |
ਹੇ ਝੱਲੇ ਮਨੂਏ! ਕਿਉਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਫਰਿਆਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
O foolish mind, why do you complain, and cry out so loud?
ਜਉ ਮਾਗਹਿ; ਤਉ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਬੀਆ ॥
jau maageh; tau maageh beea |
ਜਦ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
Whenever you ask for something, you ask for worldly things;
ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕੁਸਲ; ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਥੀਆ ॥
jaa te kusal; na kaahoo theea |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ।
no one has obtained happiness from these.
ਮਾਗਨਿ ਮਾਗ ਤ; ਏਕਹਿ ਮਾਗ ॥
maagan maag ta; ekeh maag |
ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਿ ਮੰਗਣੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰ,
If you must ask for a gift, then ask for the One Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਤੇ; ਪਰਹਿ ਪਰਾਗ ॥੪੧॥
naanak jaa te; pareh paraag |41|
ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
O Nanak, by Him, you shall be saved. ||41||
