ਮਿਥਿਆ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ; ਪੇਖਤ ਪਰ ਤਿ੍ਰਅ ਰੂਪਾਦ ॥
mithiaa netr; pekhat par tria roopaad |
ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਜੋ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਤੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
False are the eyes which gaze upon the beauty of another's wife.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ; ਭੋਜਨ ਅਨ ਸ੍ਵਾਦ ॥
mithiaa rasanaa; bhojan an svaad |
ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਜੀਭਾ ਜੋ ਨਿਆਮ੍ਹਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
False is the tongue which enjoys delicacies and external tastes.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਚਰਨ; ਪਰ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਕਉ ਧਾਵਹਿ ॥
mithiaa charan; par bikaar kau dhaaveh |
ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪੈਰ ਜੋ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਦੌੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
False are the feet which run to do evil to others.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮਨ; ਪਰ ਲੋਭ ਲੁਭਾਵਹਿ ॥
mithiaa man; par lobh lubhaaveh |
ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਚਿੱਤ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਲਲਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
False is the mind which covets the wealth of others.
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਤਨ; ਨਹੀ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਾ ॥
mithiaa tan; nahee praupakaaraa |
ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਜੋ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
False is the body which does not do good to others.
ਮਿਥਿਆ; ਬਾਸੁ ਲੇਤ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
mithiaa; baas let bikaaraa |
ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨੱਕ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਗੰਧ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
False is the nose which inhales corruption.
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ; ਮਿਥਿਆ ਸਭ ਭਏ ॥
bin boojhe; mithiaa sabh bhe |
ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ।
Without understanding, everything is false.
ਸਫਲ ਦੇਹ ਨਾਨਕ; ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਲਏ ॥੫॥

ਫਲਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
Fruitful is the body, O Nanak, which takes to the Lord's Name. ||5||
ਬਿਰਥੀ; ਸਾਕਤ ਕੀ ਆਰਜਾ ॥
birathee; saakat kee aarajaa |
ਨਿਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ।
The life of the faithless cynic is totally useless.
ਸਾਚ ਬਿਨਾ; ਕਹ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੂਚਾ ॥
saach binaa; keh hovat soochaa |
ਸੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Without the Truth, how can anyone be pure?
ਬਿਰਥਾ; ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਤਨੁ ਅੰਧ ॥
birathaa; naam binaa tan andh |
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਹੈ।
Useless is the body of the spiritually blind, without the Name of the Lord.
ਮੁਖਿ ਆਵਤ; ਤਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ॥
mukh aavat; taa kai duragandh |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਗੰਦੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
From his mouth, a foul smell issues forth.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ; ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿ੍ਰਥਾ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
bin simaran; din rain brithaa bihaae |
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਦਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Without the remembrance of the Lord, day and night pass in vain,
ਮੇਘ ਬਿਨਾ; ਜਿਉ ਖੇਤੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
megh binaa; jiau khetee jaae |
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
like the crop which withers without rain.
ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ; ਬਿ੍ਰਥੇ ਸਭ ਕਾਮ ॥
gobid bhajan bin; brithe sabh kaam |
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਬੇਫਾਇਦਾ ਹਨ,
Without meditation on the Lord of the Universe, all works are in vain,
ਜਿਉ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕੇ; ਨਿਰਾਰਥ ਦਾਮ ॥
jiau kirapan ke; niraarath daam |
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਜੂਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ।
like the wealth of a miser, which lies useless.
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ; ਜਿਹ ਘਟਿ. ਬਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
dhan dhan te jan; jih ghatt. basio har naau |
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
Blessed, blessed are those, whose hearts are filled with the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ; ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੬॥
naanak taa kai; bal bal jaau |6|
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them. ||6||
ਰਹਤ ਅਵਰ; ਕਛੁ ਅਵਰ ਕਮਾਵਤ ॥
rehat avar; kachh avar kamaavat |
ਆਦਮੀ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਕੁਛ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਹੀ ਕੁਛ ਹੋਰ।
He says one thing, and does something else.
ਮਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ; ਮੁਖਹੁ ਗੰਢ ਲਾਵਤ ॥
man nahee preet; mukhahu gandt laavat |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਹ ਸ਼ੇਖੀ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
There is no love in his heart, and yet with his mouth he talks tall.
ਜਾਨਨਹਾਰ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਬੀਨ ॥
jaananahaar; prabhoo parabeen |
ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਜੋ ਅੰਦਰਲੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
The Omniscient Lord God is the Knower of all.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ; ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਭੀਨ ॥
baahar bhekh; na kaahoo bheen |
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਉਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
He is not impressed by outward display.
ਅਵਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ; ਆਪਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ॥
avar upadesai; aap na karai |
ਜੋ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
One who does not practice what he preaches to others,
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਵਤ; ਜਨਮੈ ਮਰੈ ॥
aavat jaavat; janamai marai |
ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
shall come and go in reincarnation, through birth and death.
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ; ਬਸੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
jis kai antar; basai nirankaar |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
One whose inner being is filled with the Formless Lord
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੀਖ; ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
tis kee seekh; tarai sansaar |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
by his teachings, the world is saved.
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਨੇ; ਤਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
jo tum bhaane; tin prabh jaataa |
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who are pleasing to You, God, know You.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ ਜਨ; ਚਰਨ ਪਰਾਤਾ ॥੭॥
naanak un jan; charan paraataa |7|
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਡਿੱਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Nanak falls at their feet. ||7||
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ; ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
krau benatee; paarabraham sabh jaanai |
ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
Offer your prayers to the Supreme Lord God, who knows everything.
ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਆ; ਆਪਹਿ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
apanaa keea; aapeh maanai |
ਆਪਣੇ ਰਚੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself values His own creatures.
ਆਪਹਿ ਆਪ; ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥
aapeh aap; aap karat niberaa |
ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He Himself, by Himself, makes the decisions.
ਕਿਸੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਜਨਾਵਤ; ਕਿਸੈ ਬੁਝਾਵਤ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
kisai door janaavat; kisai bujhaavat neraa |
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨੇੜੇ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
To some, He appears far away, while others perceive Him near at hand.
ਉਪਾਵ ਸਿਆਨਪ; ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ॥
aupaav siaanap; sagal te rehat |
ਉਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ।
He is beyond all efforts and clever tricks.
ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਜਾਨੈ; ਆਤਮ ਕੀ ਰਹਤ ॥
sabh kachh jaanai; aatam kee rehat |
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਰਿਆਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
He knows all the ways and means of the soul.
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ; ਤਿਸੁ ਲਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
jis bhaavai; tis le larr laae |
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those with whom He is pleased are attached to the hem of His robe.
ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ; ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
thaan thanantar; rahiaa samaae |
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਥਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
He is pervading all places and interspaces.
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ; ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥
so sevak; jis kirapaa karee |
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹੈ।
Those upon whom He bestows His favor, become His servants.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ; ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰੀ ॥੮॥੫॥
nimakh nimakh; jap naanak haree |8|5|
ਹਰ ਮੁਹਤ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
Each and every moment, O Nanak, meditate on the Lord. ||8||5||

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਰੁ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ; ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ॥
kaam krodh ar lobh moh; binas jaae ahamev |
ਰੱਬ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਾਮਚੇਸ਼ਟਾ, ਗੁੱਸਾ, ਲਾਲਚ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ।
Sexual desire, anger, greed and emotional attachment - may these be gone, and egotism as well.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ; ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥੧॥
naanak. prabh saranaagatee; kar prasaad guradev |1|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੇ ਰੱਬ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਮ ਕਰੋ।
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God; please bless me with Your Grace, O Divine Guru. ||1||

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਛਤੀਹ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
jih prasaad; chhateeh amrit khaeh |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਛੱਤੀ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਛਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you partake of the thirty-six delicacies;
ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ; ਰਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
tis tthaakur kau; rakh man maeh |
ਉਸ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ।
enshrine that Lord and Master within your mind.
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਸੁਗੰਧਤ ਤਨਿ ਲਾਵਹਿ ॥
jih prasaad; sugandhat tan laaveh |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ਬੋਈਆਂ ਮਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you apply scented oils to your body;
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਤ; ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
tis kau simarat; param gat paaveh |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗਾਂ।
remembering Him, the supreme status is obtained.
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਬਸਹਿ ਸੁਖ ਮੰਦਰਿ ॥
jih prasaad; baseh sukh mandar |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਸਦਕਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you dwell in the palace of peace;
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ; ਸਦਾ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ॥
tiseh dhiaae; sadaa man andar |
ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ।
meditate forever on Him within your mind.
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਗਿ੍ਰਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਖ ਬਸਨਾ ॥
jih prasaad; grih sang sukh basanaa |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you abide with your family in peace;
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ; ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
aatth pehar; simarahu tis rasanaa |
ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ।
keep His remembrance upon your tongue, twenty-four hours a day.
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ॥
jih prasaad; rang ras bhog |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you enjoy tastes and pleasures;
ਨਾਨਕ. ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ; ਧਿਆਵਨ ਜੋਗ ॥੧॥
naanak. sadaa dhiaaeeai; dhiaavan jog |1|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਲਾਇਕ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, meditate forever on the One, who is worthy of meditation. ||1||
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਪਾਟ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਹਢਾਵਹਿ ॥
jih prasaad; paatt pattanbar hadtaaveh |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਰੇਸ਼ਮ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਸ਼ਮ ਦੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you wear silks and satins;
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ; ਕਤ ਅਵਰ ਲੁਭਾਵਹਿ ॥
tiseh tiaag; kat avar lubhaaveh |
ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਸਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
why abandon Him, to attach yourself to another?
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਸੁਖਿ ਸੇਜ ਸੋਈਜੈ ॥
jih prasaad; sukh sej soeejai |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਪਲੰਘ ਤੇ ਸੌਦਾਂ ਹੈ।
By His Grace, you sleep in a cozy bed;
ਮਨ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ; ਤਾ ਕਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੀਜੈ ॥
man aatth pehar; taa kaa jas gaaveejai |
ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ।
O my mind, sing His Praises, twenty-four hours a day.
ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਤੁਝੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
jih prasaad; tujh sabh koaoo maanai |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
By His Grace, you are honored by everyone;
