Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਜਹਾਨ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

He is the Creator Lord of His world.

ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਿਆ ਸੋਚੇ।

No one else understands Him, although they may try.

ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ।

The created cannot know the extent of the Creator.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਪਰਵਿਰਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, whatever pleases Him comes to pass. ||7||

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਅਚਰਜ ਤੱਕ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।

Gazing upon His wondrous wonder, I am wonder-struck and amazed!

ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਅਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਨਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who realizes this, comes to taste this state of joy.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

God's humble servants remain absorbed in His Love.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਚਾਰ ਉੱਤਮ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Following the Guru's Teachings, they receive the four cardinal blessings.

ਉਹੀ ਦਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।

They are the givers, the dispellers of pain.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਹਾਨ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In their company, the world is saved.

ਉਹ ਜੋ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਮਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਦਾ ਟਹਿਲੂਆ ਹੈ, ਭਾਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

The slave of the Lord's servant is so very blessed.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਮਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ, ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

In the company of His servant, one becomes attached to the Love of the One.

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਰਤੀਆਂ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

His humble servant sings the Kirtan, the songs of the glory of God.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਇਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, he receives the fruits of his rewards. ||8||16||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਪ੍ਰਾਰੰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਚਾ, ਸੱਚਾ ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਹੈ,

True in the beginning, True throughout the ages,

ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

True here and now. O Nanak, He shall forever be True. ||1||

ਅਸ਼ਟਪਦੀ।

Ashtapadee:

ਸੱਚੇ ਹਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੂੰਹਦਾ।

His Lotus Feet are True, and True are those who touch Them.

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।

His devotional worship is True, and True are those who worship Him.

ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ।

The Blessing of His Vision is True, and True are those who behold it.

ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

His Naam is True, and True are those who meditate on it.

ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਹਰ ਵਸਤੂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ।

He Himself is True, and True is all that He sustains.

ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ।

He Himself is virtuous goodness, and He Himself is the Bestower of virtue.

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ।

The Word of His Shabad is True, and True are those who speak of God.

ਸੱਚੇ ਹਨ ਕੰਨ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those ears are True, and True are those who listen to His Praises.

ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

All is True to one who understands.

ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ।

O Nanak, True, True is He, the Lord God. ||1||

ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਉਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

One who believes in the Embodiment of Truth with all his heart

ਉਹ ਹੇਤੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੇਤੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।

recognizes the Cause of causes as the Root of all.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,

One whose heart is filled with faith in God

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਰ-ਅੰਸ਼ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਸ਼ ਕਰਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

the essence of spiritual wisdom is revealed to his mind.

ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨਿਡੱਰ ਹੋ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ,

Coming out of fear, he comes to live without fear.

ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਉਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He is absorbed into the One, from whom he originated.

ਜਦ ਇਕ ਵਸਤੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਹੋਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,

When something blends with its own,

ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।

it cannot be said to be separate from it.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੀਬਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।

This is understood only by one of discerning understanding.

ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Meeting with the Lord, O Nanak, he becomes one with Him. ||2||

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਾਬੇਦਾਰ ਹੈ।

The servant is obedient to his Lord and Master.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਹੈ।

The servant worships his Lord and Master forever.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The servant of the Lord Master has faith in his mind.

ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਹੁ-ਰੀਤੀ, ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੀ।

The servant of the Lord Master lives a pure lifestyle.

ਗੋਲਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

The servant of the Lord Master knows that the Lord is with him.

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

God's servant is attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਾਲਣ-ਪੋਸਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

God is the Cherisher of His servant.

ਅਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Formless Lord preserves His servant.

ਉਹੀ ਨੌਕਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Unto His servant, God bestows His Mercy.

ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਹ ਗੋਲਾ ਹਰ ਸਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, that servant remembers Him with each and every breath. ||3||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਮਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੇ ਕਸੂਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਜ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He covers the faults of His servant.

ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਮਾਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

He surely preserves the honor of His servant.

ਆਪਣੇ ਟਹਿਲੂਏ ਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੁਤਾ ਨਿਛਾਵਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He blesses His slave with greatness.

ਆਪਣੇ ਟਹਿਲੂਏ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He inspires His servant to chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਆਪਣੇ ਨਫਰ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself preserves the honor of His servant.

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਤੇ ਅੰਦਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।

No one knows His state and extent.

ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

No one is equal to the servant of God.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਉਚਿੱਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮ ਉੱਚੇ ਹਨ।

The servant of God is the highest of the high.

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ।

One whom God applies to His own service, O Nanak

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹ ਟਹਿਲੂਆ ਦੱਸੀ ਪਾਸੀ ਉਘਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

- that servant is famous in the ten directions. ||4||

ਜੇਕਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਿੱਕੀ ਜੇਹੀ ਕੀੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਟਿਕਾ ਦੇਵੇ,

He infuses His Power into the tiny ant;

ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਹ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

it can then reduce the armies of millions to ashes

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਸ (ਜੀਵਨ) ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਮੁਕਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ,

Those whose breath of life He Himself does not take away
