Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, the Lord God unites him with Himself. ||4||

ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਾਣ।

Join the Company of the Holy, and be happy.

ਤੂੰ ਮਹਾਨ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ।

Sing the Glories of God, the embodiment of supreme bliss.

ਸਾਰਵਸਤੂ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ।

Contemplate the essence of the Lord's Name.

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਲੈ।

Redeem this human body, so difficult to obtain.

ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਧਾ-ਸਰੂਪ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ।

Sing the Ambrosial Words of the Lord's Glorious Praises;

ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਏਹੀ ਤ੍ਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ।

this is the way to save your mortal soul.

ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਐਨ ਨੇੜੇ ਦੇਖ।

Behold God near at hand, twenty-four hours a day.

ਤੇਰੀ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਏਗਾ।

Ignorance shall depart, and darkness shall be dispelled.

ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ।

Listen to the Teachings, and enshrine them in your heart.

ਐਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਮੇਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ।

O Nanak, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires. ||5||

ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕਰ ਲੈ,

Embellish both this world and the next;

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ।

enshrine the Lord's Name deep within your heart.

ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ।

Perfect are the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ-ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

That person, within whose mind it abides, realizes the Truth.

ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ-ਸਹਿਤ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।

With your mind and body, chant the Naam; lovingly attune yourself to it.

ਐਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਮ, ਪੀੜ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

Sorrow, pain and fear shall depart from your mind.

ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰ, ਹੈ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ!

Deal in the true trade, O trader,

ਤੇਰਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਸੂਤ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹੀ-ਸਲਾਮਤ ਪੁੱਜ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।

and your merchandise shall be safe in the Court of the Lord.

ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੱਖ।

Keep the Support of the One in your mind.

ਨਾਨਕ, ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

O Nanak, you shall not have to come and go in reincarnation again. ||6||

ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

Where can anyone go, to get away from Him?

ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਬੱਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on the Protector Lord, you shall be saved.

ਨਿਡਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditating on the Fearless Lord, all fear departs.

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਬੰਦ-ਖਲਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

By God's Grace, mortals are released.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ।

One who is protected by God never suffers in pain.

ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਢ ਚੈਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Chanting the Naam, the mind becomes peaceful.

iਫ਼ਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Anxiety departs, and ego is eliminated.

ਉਸ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

No one can equal that humble servant.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੀਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਹੈ।

The Brave and Powerful Guru stands over his head.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, his efforts are fulfilled. ||7||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਗੁਰਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ,

His wisdom is perfect, and His Glance is Ambrosial.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Beholding His Vision, the universe is saved.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਪੈਰ ਕਥਨ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹਨ।

His Lotus Feet are incomparably beautiful.

ਅਮੋਘ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ-ਵਰਗਾ ਮਨਮੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ।

The Blessed Vision of His Darshan is fruitful and rewarding; His Lordly Form is beautiful.

ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਤੇ ਮਕਬੂਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਾਕਰ।

Blessed is His service; His servant is famous.

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹਨ।

The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is the most exalted Supreme Being.

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

That one, within whose mind He abides, is blissfully happy.

ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੀ।

Death does not draw near him.

ਮੈਂ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਰਤਬਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,

One becomes immortal, and obtains the immortal status,

ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

meditating on the Lord, O Nanak, in the Company of the Holy. ||8||22||

ਸਲੋਕ।

Salok:

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਬੋਧ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The Guru has given the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom, and dispelled the darkness of ignorance.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਜਰੀਏ, ਮੈਂ ਸਾਧੂ (ਗੁਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

By the Lord's Grace, I have met the Saint; O Nanak, my mind is enlightened. ||1||

ਅਸ਼ਟਪਦੀ।

Ashtapadee:

ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

In the Society of the Saints, I see God deep within my being.

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।

God's Name is sweet to me.

ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਨ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ,

All things are contained in the Heart of the One,

ਜੋ ਘਣੇਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮੁਖਤਲਿਫ ਰੰਗਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

although they appear in so many various colors.

ਨੋ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਤੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।

The nine treasures are in the Ambrosial Name of God.

ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਇਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।

Within the human body is its place of rest.

ਓਥੇ ਅਫੁਰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਦੀ ਹੈ।

The Deepest Samaadhi, and the unstruck sound current of the Naad are there.

ਇਸ ਦੀ ਅਦਭੁੱਤਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਚਰਜਤਾ ਵਰਨਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।

The wonder and marvel of it cannot be described.

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਵਿਖਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

He alone sees it, unto whom God Himself reveals it.

ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਗਿਆਤ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, that humble being understands. ||1||

ਉਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਵੀ ਹੈ।

The Infinite Lord is inside, and outside as well.

ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

Deep within each and every heart, the Lord God is pervading.

ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ, ਅਸਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

In the earth, in the Akaashic ethers, and in the nether regions of the underworld

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਜਹਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

in all worlds, He is the Perfect Cherisher.
