ਸਮਝ ਲਓ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਤਾਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਣ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,

Know that as long as you place your hopes in others,

ਤਦ ਤਾਈ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

you shall not find the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

ਜਦ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

When you embrace love for the Lord,

ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

says Kabeer, then, you shall become pure in your very fiber. ||8||1||

ਰਾਗ ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ।

Raag Gauree Chaytee, The Word Of Naam Dayv Jee:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਤਾਰ ਛੱਡੇ ਹਨ।

God makes even stones float.

ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੋਲਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਾਗਾ? ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

So why shouldn't Your humble slave also float across, chanting Your Name, O Lord? ||1||Pause||

ਤੂੰ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਦਸ਼ਕਲ ਦੁੱਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਅ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਅਜਾਮਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

You saved the prostitute, and the ugly hunch-back; You helped the hunter and Ajaamal swim across as well.

ਆਦਮੀ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਪੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

The hunter who shot Krishna in the foot - even he was liberated.

ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those who chant the Lord's Name. ||1||

ਤੂੰ ਸੁਦਾਮੇ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਕਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ, ਗੋਲੇ ਬਿਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਗਰਸੈਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

You saved Bidur, the son of the slave-girl, and Sudama; You restored Ugrasain to his throne.

ਇਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਭਗਤੀ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਤਪੱਸਿਆ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਚੰਗੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਮਲ-ਰਹਿਤ ਨਾਮੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

Without meditation, without penance, without a good family, without good deeds, Naam Dayv's Lord and Master saved them all. ||2||1||

ਰਵੀਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਪਦੇ ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ। ਰਾਗ ਗਉੜੀ।

Raag Gauree, Padhay Of Ravi Daas Jee, Gauree Gwaarayree:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਰਚਣਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਠਕ ਬੈਠਕ ਭੈੜੀ ਹੈ,

The company I keep is wretched and low, and I am anxious day and night;

ਮੇਰੇ ਅਮਲ ਟੇਢੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਨੀਚ ਹੈ।

my actions are crooked, and I am of lowly birth. ||1||

ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਇਨਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ,

O Lord, Master of the earth, Life of the soul,

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

please do not forget me! I am Your humble servant. ||1||Pause||

ਮੇਰੀ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਰਫ਼ਾ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਫ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ।

Take away my pains, and bless Your humble servant with Your Sublime Love.

ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਾਂਗਾ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਭਲਕੇ ਹੀ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਏ।

I shall not leave Your Feet, even though my body may perish. ||2||

ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!

Says Ravi Daas, I seek the protection of Your Sanctuary;

ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਰੀ ਨਾਂ ਲਾ।

please, meet Your humble servant - do not delay! ||3||1||

ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੇਗਮਪੁਰਾ ਹੈ!

Baygumpura, 'the city without sorrow', is the name of the town.

ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਜਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

There is no suffering or anxiety there.

ਉਥੇ ਮਾਲ ਅਸਬਾਬ ਤੇ ਮਸੂਲ ਲਗਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ।

There are no troubles or taxes on commodities there.

ਉਥੇ ਨਾਂ ਭੈ, ਨਾਂ ਗਲਤੀ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਹੈ।

There is no fear, blemish or downfall there. ||1||

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ-ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Now, I have found this most excellent city.

ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਉਥੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਮਤੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

There is lasting peace and safety there, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||

ਪੱਕੀ, ਸਥਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

God's Kingdom is steady, stable and eternal.

ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾ ਤੀਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੈ।

There is no second or third status; all are equal there.

ਆਬਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਘਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ।

That city is populous and eternally famous.

ਅਮੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਉਥੇ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who live there are wealthy and contented. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

They stroll about freely, just as they please.

ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਜਾਣੂ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕਦਾ।

They know the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and no one blocks their way.

ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ,

Says Ravi Daas, the emancipated shoe-maker:

ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ।

whoever is a citizen there, is a friend of mine. ||3||2||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਗਉੜੀ ਬੈਰਾਗਣਿ ਰਵੀਦਾਸ ਜੀ।

Gauree Bairaagan, Ravi Daas Jee:

ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਬੜਾ ਬਿਖੜਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਲ੍ਹਦ ਨਿਕੰਮਾ ਹੈ।

The path to God is very treacherous and mountainous, and all I have is this worthless ox.

ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਖਰ ਦੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਵੇਰੀ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I offer this one prayer to the Lord, to preserve my capital. ||1||

ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਚੱਲੇ? ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲ ਲੱਦਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Is there any merchant of the Lord to join me? My cargo is loaded, and now I am leaving. ||1||Pause||
