Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਪਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਰਮ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਹੈ।

but the Guru's system is profound and unequalled. ||1||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਰਮ ਅਥਵਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੋਖਸ਼ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Guru's system is the way to liberation.

ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The True Lord Himself comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੱਗ ਪਾਰ ਉੱਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Through the Guru's system, the world is saved,

ਜੇਕਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰੇ।

if it is embraced with love and affection.

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਂਵਾਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

How rare is that person who truly loves the Guru's Way.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's system, everlasting peace is obtained. ||2||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's system, the Door of Salvation is obtained.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਟੱਬਰ ਕਬੀਲਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Serving the True Guru, one's family is saved.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ-ਹੀਣ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

There is no salvation for those who have no Guru.

ਪਾਪ ਦਾ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Beguiled by worthless sins, they are struck down. ||3||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਆਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਠੰਡ ਚੈਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the body finds peace and tranquility.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ-ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਪੀੜ ਦੁਖਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ।

The Gurmukh is not afflicted by pain.

ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।

The Messenger of Death does not come near him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸਮਰਪਣ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, the Gurmukh is absorbed in the True Lord. ||4||1||40||

ਆਸਾ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

One who dies in the Word of the Shabad, eradicates his self-conceit from within.

ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਤਿਲ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਮਤਲਬ-ਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ;

He serves the True Guru, with no iota of self-interest.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ, ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨਿਡੱਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Fearless Lord, the Great Giver, ever abides in his mind.

ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।

The True Bani of the Word is obtained only by good destiny. ||1||

ਭਲਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਣ।

So gather merits, and let your demerits depart from within you.

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

You shall be absorbed into the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਓਹੀ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who purchases merits, knows the value of these merits.

ਉਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੂਪ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He chants the Ambrosial Nectar of the Word, and the Name of the Lord.

ਸੱਚੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੰਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the True Bani of the Word, he becomes pure.

ਨੇਕੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through merit, the Name is obtained. ||2||

ਅਣਮੁੱਲੀਆਂ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।

The invaluable merits cannot be acquired.

ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

The pure mind is absorbed into the True Word of the Shabad.

ਵੱਡੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ, ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,

How very fortunate are those who meditate on the Naam,

ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਤਾਈਆਂ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

and ever enshrine in their minds the Lord, the Giver of merit. ||3||

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I am a sacrifice to those who gather merits.

ਸੱਚੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

At the Gate of Truth, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True One.

ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਖੁਦ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself spontaneously bestows His gifts.

ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

O Nanak, the value of the Lord cannot be described. ||4||2||41||

ਆਸਾ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਹੈ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲਤਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ,

Great is the greatness of the True Guru;

ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

He merges in His Merger, those who have been separated for so long.

ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself merges the merged in His Merger.

ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself knows His own worth. ||1||

ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

How can anyone appraise the Lord's worth?

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one may merge with the Infinite, Unapproachable and Incomprehensible Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।

Few are the Gurmukhs who know His worth.

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਂਵਾਂ ਟੱਲਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

How rare are those who receive the Lord's Grace.

ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸਟ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਦਮੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸਟ ਹੋ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Sublime Bani of His Word, one becomes sublime.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Gurmukh chants the Word of the Shabad. ||2||

ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਦੇਹਿ ਪੀੜ ਤੇ ਤਸੀਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Without the Name, the body suffers in pain;

ਜੇਕਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਣ ਤਦ ਪੀੜ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

but when one meets the True Guru, then that pain is removed.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਝੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without meeting the Guru, the mortal earns only pain.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।

The self-willed manmukh receives only more punishment. ||3||

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਰਮ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ।

The essence of the Lord's Name is so very sweet;

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

he alone drinks it, whom the Lord causes to drink it.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, the essence of the Lord is obtained.

ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ!

O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, salvation is attained. ||4||3||42||

ਆਸਾ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਮੇਰਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਾਧ ਹੈ।

My God is True, deep and profound.

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹੀ ਅਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Serving Him, the body acquires peace and tranquility.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਗਏ (ਜਾਂਦੇ) ਹਨ।

Through the Word of the Shabad, His humble servants easily swim across.

ਮੈਂ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I fall at their feet forever and ever. ||1||
