Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਅਸਲੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜੀਊਦੇਂ ਜੀ, ਮਰ ਜਾਵੇ।

True Devotion is to remain dead while yet alive.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, one crosses over the terrible world-ocean.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੀਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, one's devotion is accepted,

ਪੂਜਯ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਆ ਕੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

and then, the Dear Lord Himself comes to dwell in the mind. ||4||

ਜਦ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

When the Lord bestows His Mercy, He leads us to meet the True Guru.

ਤਦ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ) ਤੇ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Then, one's devotion becomes steady, and the consciousness is centered upon the Lord.

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ।

Those who are imbued with Devotion have truthful reputations.

ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਬੰਦਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, peace is obtained. ||5||12||51||

ਆਸਾ। ਕਾਫੀ। ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaa, Eighth House, Kaafee, Third Mehl:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ! ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, one meets the True Guru, and true understanding is obtained.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਸਦਕਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, the Lord abides in the mind, and one comes to understand the Lord. ||1||

ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪਤੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

My Husband Lord, the Great Giver, is One. There is no other at all.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

By Guru's merciful favor, He abides in the mind, and then, a lasting peace ensues. ||1||Pause||

ਇਸ ਯੁੱਗ, ਅੰਦਰ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In this age, the Lord's Name is fearless; it is obtained by meditative reflection upon the Guru.

ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼, ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੇ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।

Without the Name, the blind, foolish, self-willed manmukh is under Death's power. ||2||

ਗੋਲਾ, ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜਾ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, the humble being performs His service, and understands the True Lord.

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਤਾਬੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜਾ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, He is to be praised; surrendering to His Will, peace ensues. ||3||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਲ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦੀ ਹੈ।

By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, the prize of this human birth is obtained, and the intellect is exalted.

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾਂ।

O Nanak, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, you shall be emancipated. ||4||39||13||52||

ਆਸਾ ਚਉਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl, Second House:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ।

You are the True Creator, my Lord Master.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਓਹੀ ਕੁਛ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

That which is pleasing to Your Will, comes to pass. Whatever You give, that is what I receive. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਰੇ ਤੈਡੇਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

All are Yours; all meditate on You.

ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He alone, whom You bless with Your Mercy, obtains the jewel of the Naam.

ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Gurmukhs obtain it, and the self-willed manmukhs lose it.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

You Yourself separate the mortals, and You Yourself unite them. ||1||

ਤੂੰ ਦਰਿਆ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਨ।

You are the River - all are within You.

ਤੇਰੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

Other than You, there is no one at all.

ਸਮੂਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਧਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਖਿਡਾਉਣੇ ਹਨ।

All beings and creatures are your play-things.

ਵਿਜੋਗ ਦੇ ਰੱਬੀ ਨੇਮ ਅਨੁਕੂਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਵਿਛੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੇਲ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵਿਛੜਿਆ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

The united ones are separated, and the separated ones are re-united. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,

That humble being, whom You inspire to understand, understands;

ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੱਸ ਵਰਨਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ!

he continually speaks and chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

One who serves the Lord, obtains peace.

ਉਹ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ!

He is easily absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||3||

ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

You Yourself are the Creator; by Your doing, all things come to be.

ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

Without You, there is no other at all.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਸ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।

You watch over the creation, and understand it.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਹੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਤੱਖਸ਼ (ਸਾਖਸ਼ਾਤ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O servant Nanak, the Lord is revealed to the Gurmukh. ||4||1||53||
