ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ; ਤਿ੍ਰਸਨ ਨਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ॥
anik jatan kar; trisan naa dhraapai |
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਝਦੀ।
You try all sorts of things, but your thirst is still not satisfied.
ਭੇਖ ਅਨੇਕ; ਅਗਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝੈ ॥
bhekh anek; agan nahee bujhai |
ਬੜੇ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਭੇਸ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅੱਗ ਮਾਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
Wearing various religious robes, the fire is not extinguished.
ਕੋਟਿ ਉਪਾਵ; ਦਰਗਹ ਨਹੀ ਸਿਝੈ ॥
kott upaav; daragah nahee sijhai |
ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਪਰਾਲਿਆਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ।
Even making millions of efforts, you shall not be accepted in the Court of the Lord.
ਛੂਟਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ; ਊਭ ਪਇਆਲਿ ॥
chhoottas naahee; aoobh peaal |
ਉਹ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਜਾ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਦ ਖਲਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
You cannot escape to the heavens, or to the nether regions,
ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਹਿ; ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾਲਿ ॥
mohi biaapeh; maaeaa jaal |
ਜੋ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੀ ਕੁੜਿੱਕੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਾਬਾ ਹੈ।
if you are entangled in emotional attachment and the net of Maya.
ਅਵਰ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ; ਸਗਲੀ ਜਮੁ ਡਾਨੈ ॥
avar karatoot; sagalee jam ddaanai |
ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
All other efforts are punished by the Messenger of Death,
ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ; ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
govind bhajan bin; til nahee maanai |
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੌਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਸ਼ੈ ਦੀ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ।
which accepts nothing at all, except meditation on the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ; ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
har kaa naam japat; dukh jaae |
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗ਼ਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Chanting the Name of the Lord, sorrow is dispelled.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੋਲੈ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੪॥
naanak bolai; sehaj subhaae |4|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਤੇ ਸਿਧ ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, chant it with intuitive ease. ||4||
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ; ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮਾਗੈ ॥
chaar padaarath; je ko maagai |
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਚਾਰ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who prays for the four cardinal blessings
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ; ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
saadh janaa kee; sevaa laagai |
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੇਕ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੁੜਨਾ ਉਚਿੱਤ ਹੈ।
should commit himself to the service of the Saints.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਆਪੁਨਾ; ਦੂਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
je ko aapunaa; dookh mittaavai |
ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪੀੜਾ, ਮੇਸਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
If you wish to erase your sorrows,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ; ਰਿਦੈ ਸਦ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
har har naam; ridai sad gaavai |
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
sing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, within your heart.
ਜੇ ਕੋ; ਅਪੁਨੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਲੋਰੈ ॥
je ko; apunee sobhaa lorai |
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
If you long for honor for yourself,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ; ਇਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਛੋਰੈ ॥
saadhasang; ih haumai chhorai |
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਵੇ।
then renounce your ego in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜੇ ਕੋ; ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਡਰੈ ॥
je ko; janam maran te ddarai |
ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਆਵਾਗਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
If you fear the cycle of birth and death,
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ; ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰੈ ॥
saadh janaa kee; saranee parai |
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
then seek the Sanctuary of the Holy.
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ; ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
jis jan kau; prabh daras piaasaa |
ਜਿਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਤਰੇਹ ਹੈ,
Those who thirst for the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan
ਨਾਨਕ. ਤਾ ਕੈ; ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸਾ ॥੫॥
naanak. taa kai; bal bal jaasaa |5|
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- Nanak is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them. ||5||
ਸਗਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਹਿ; ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
sagal purakh meh; purakh pradhaan |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਹੈ,
Among all persons, the supreme person is the one
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ; ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
saadhasang; jaa kaa mittai abhimaan |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
who gives up his egotistical pride in the Company of the Holy.
ਆਪਸ ਕਉ; ਜੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਨੀਚਾ ॥
aapas kau; jo jaanai neechaa |
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who sees himself as lowly,
ਸੋਊ ਗਨੀਐ; ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥
soaoo ganeeai; sabh te aoochaa |
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬੁਲੰਦ ਸਮਝੋ।
shall be accounted as the highest of all.
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ; ਹੋਇ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੀਨਾ ॥
jaa kaa man; hoe sagal kee reenaa |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮਨੂਆਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਧੁੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One whose mind is the dust of all,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ; ਤਿਨਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਚੀਨਾ ॥
har har naam; tin ghatt ghatt cheenaa |
ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
recognizes the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in each and every heart.
ਮਨ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਤੇ; ਬੁਰਾ ਮਿਟਾਨਾ ॥
man apune te; buraa mittaanaa |
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਟ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who eradicates cruelty from within his own mind,
ਪੇਖੈ ਸਗਲ ਸਿ੍ਰਸਟਿ; ਸਾਜਨਾ ॥
pekhai sagal srisatt; saajanaa |
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
looks upon all the world as his friend.
ਸੂਖ ਦੂਖ; ਜਨ ਸਮ ਦਿ੍ਰਸਟੇਤਾ ॥
sookh dookh; jan sam drisattetaa |
ਜੋ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who looks upon pleasure and pain as one and the same,
ਨਾਨਕ; ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ. ਨਹੀ ਲੇਪਾ ॥੬॥
naanak; paap pun. nahee lepaa |6|
ਉਹ ਬਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਟੰਕ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!
O Nanak, is not affected by sin or virtue. ||6||
ਨਿਰਧਨ ਕਉ ਧਨੁ; ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
niradhan kau dhan; tero naau |
ਕੰਗਾਲ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ।
To the poor, Your Name is wealth.
ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ; ਨਾਉ ਤੇਰਾ. ਥਾਉ ॥
nithaave kau; naau teraa. thaau |
ਬੇ-ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
To the homeless, Your Name is home.
ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ; ਪ੍ਰਭ. ਤੇਰੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
nimaane kau; prabh. tero maan |
ਬੇਇਜ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ।
To the dishonored, You, O God, are honor.
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕਉ; ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
sagal ghattaa kau; devahu daan |
ਸਮੂਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
To all, You are the Giver of gifts.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨਹਾਰ; ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
karan karaavanahaar; suaamee |
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
O Creator Lord, Cause of causes, O Lord and Master,
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ; ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
sagal ghattaa ke; antarajaamee |
ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
Inner-knower, Searcher of all hearts:
ਅਪਨੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ; ਜਾਨਹੁ ਆਪੇ ॥
apanee gat mit; jaanahu aape |
ਆਪਣੀ ਦਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
You alone know Your own condition and state.
ਆਪਨ ਸੰਗਿ; ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
aapan sang; aap prabh raate |
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
You Yourself, God, are imbued with Yourself.
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ; ਤੁਮ ਤੇ. ਹੋਇ ॥
tumaree usatat; tum te. hoe |
ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
You alone can celebrate Your Praises.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਅਵਰੁ. ਨ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੭॥
naanak; avar. na jaanas koe |7|
ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
O Nanak, no one else knows. ||7||
ਸਰਬ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ; ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਧਰਮੁ ॥
sarab dharam meh; sresatt dharam |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਨਾ
Of all religions, the best religion
ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ; ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਮੁ ॥
har ko naam jap; niramal karam |
ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਅਮਲ ਕਮਾਉਣੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਮ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਹੈ।
is to chant the Name of the Lord and maintain pure conduct.
ਸਗਲ ਕਿ੍ਰਆ ਮਹਿ; ਊਤਮ ਕਿਰਿਆ ॥
sagal kriaa meh; aootam kiriaa |
ਸਮੂਹ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸਮ ਹੈ,
Of all religious rituals, the most sublime ritual
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ; ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਿਆ ॥
saadhasang; duramat mal hiriaa |
ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਕੇ ਖੋਟੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੀ ਮਲੀਣਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਧੋ ਸੁਟਣਾ।
is to erase the filth of the dirty mind in the Company of the Holy.
ਸਗਲ ਉਦਮ ਮਹਿ; ਉਦਮੁ ਭਲਾ ॥
sagal udam meh; udam bhalaa |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉਪਰਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਉਪਰਾਲਾ,
Of all efforts, the best effort
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ; ਜਪਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਸਦਾ ॥
har kaa naam; japahu jeea sadaa |
ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
is to chant the Name of the Lord in the heart, forever.
ਸਗਲ ਬਾਨੀ ਮਹਿ; ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
sagal baanee meh; amrit baanee |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਬਚਨ-ਬਿਲਾਸਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਬਚਨ-ਬਿਲਾਸ ਹੈ,
Of all speech, the most ambrosial speech
ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਿ; ਰਸਨ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥
har ko jas sun; rasan bakhaanee |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਸੁਣਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ।
is to hear the Lord's Praise and chant it with the tongue.
ਸਗਲ ਥਾਨ ਤੇ; ਓਹੁ ਊਤਮ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
sagal thaan te; ohu aootam thaan |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਦਿਲ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ,
Of all places, the most sublime place,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਹ ਘਟਿ; ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੮॥੩॥
naanak jih ghatt; vasai har naam |8|3|
ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, is that heart in which the Name of the Lord abides. ||8||3||

ਹੈ ਗੁਣ-ਵਿਹੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ, ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
You worthless, ignorant fool - dwell upon God forever.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ. ਤਿਸੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਰਖੁ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਿਬਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
jin keea. tis cheet rakh; naanak. nibahee naal |1|
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ, ਕੇਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਥ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
Cherish in your consciousness the One who created you; O Nanak, He alone shall go along with you. ||1||

ਹੇ ਫ਼ਾਨੀ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ।
Think of the Glory of the All-pervading Lord, O mortal;
ਕਵਨ ਮੂਲ ਤੇ; ਕਵਨ ਦਿ੍ਰਸਟਾਨੀ ॥
kavan mool te; kavan drisattaanee |
ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀ ਮੁੱਢ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੇਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
what is your origin, and what is your appearance?
ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ; ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿਆ ॥
jin toon; saaj savaar seegaariaa |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਰਚਿਆ, ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਸ਼ੋਭਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
He who fashioned, adorned and decorated you
ਗਰਭ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ; ਜਿਨਹਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਆ ॥
garabh agan meh; jineh ubaariaa |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੱਚੇਦਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
in the fire of the womb, He preserved you.
ਬਾਰ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ; ਤੁਝਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਦੂਧ ॥
baar bivasathaa; tujheh piaarai doodh |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਲ-ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਦੁੱਧ ਦਿਤਾ।
In your infancy, He gave you milk to drink.
ਭਰਿ ਜੋਬਨ; ਭੋਜਨ ਸੁਖ ਸੂਧ ॥
bhar joban; bhojan sukh soodh |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖਾਣਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
In the flower of your youth, He gave you food, pleasure and understanding.
ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ; ਊਪਰਿ ਸਾਕ ਸੈਨ ॥
biradh bheaa; aoopar saak sain |
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਤੇ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਖੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ,
