ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪੇ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
tan man arape; satigur saranaaee |
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He dedicates his mind and body to the True Guru, and seeks His Sanctuary.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ; ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
hiradai naam; vaddee vaddiaaee |
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲਤਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ।
His greatest greatness is that the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is in his heart.
ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
sadaa preetam prabh hoe sakhaaee |1|
ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ।
The Beloved Lord God is his constant companion. ||1||
ਸੋ ਲਾਲਾ; ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ॥
so laalaa; jeevat marai |
ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He alone is the Lord's slave, who remains dead while yet alive.
ਸੋਗੁ ਹਰਖੁ ਦੁਇ. ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ; ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਧਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਉਹ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ, ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਇਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
He looks upon pleasure and pain alike; by Guru's Grace, he is saved through the Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ; ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥
karanee kaar; dhurahu furamaaee |
ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਆਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He does his deeds according to the Lord's Primal Command.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ; ਕੋ. ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
bin sabadai; ko. thaae na paaee |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
Without the Shabad, no one is approved.
ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ; ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
karanee keerat; naam vasaaee |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, the Naam abides within the mind.
ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ; ਢਿਲ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
aape devai; dtil na paaee |2|
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ।
He Himself gives His gifts, without hesitation. ||2||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
manamukh bharam bhulai sansaar |
ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਜਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukh wanders around the world in doubt.
ਬਿਨੁ ਰਾਸੀ; ਕੂੜਾ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥
bin raasee; koorraa kare vaapaar |
ਪੂੰਜੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਉਹ ਝੂਠਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Without any capital, he makes false transactions.
ਵਿਣੁ ਰਾਸੀ; ਵਖਰੁ ਪਲੈ. ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
vin raasee; vakhar palai. na paae |
ਪੂੰਜੀ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਸੌਦਾ-ਸੂਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Without any capital, he does not obtain any merchandise.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੁਲਾ; ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੩॥
manamukh bhulaa; janam gavaae |3|
ਭੁੱਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰਾ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੰਞਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The mistaken manmukh wastes away his life. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ; ਸੁ ਲਾਲਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
satigur seve; su laalaa hoe |
ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਚਾਕਰ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who serves the True Guru is the Lord's slave.
ਊਤਮ ਜਾਤੀ; ਊਤਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
aootam jaatee; aootam soe |
ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਰਣ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਹਰਤ।
His social status is exalted, and his reputation is exalted.
ਗੁਰ ਪਉੜੀ; ਸਭ ਦੂ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur paurree; sabh doo aoochaa hoe |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Climbing the Guru's Ladder, he becomes the most exalted of all.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੭॥੪੬॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, greatness is obtained. ||4||7||46||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਆਸਾ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਝੂਠੋ ਝੂਠੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
manamukh jhoottho jhootth kamaavai |
ਅਧਰਮਣ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukh practices falsehood, only falsehood.
ਖਸਮੈ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ; ਕਦੇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
khasamai kaa mehal; kade na paavai |
ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
He never attains the Mansion of the Lord Presence.
ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੀ; ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵੈ ॥
doojai lagee; bharam bhulaavai |
ਹੋਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
Attached to duality, he wanders, deluded by doubt.
ਮਮਤਾ ਬਾਧਾ; ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
mamataa baadhaa; aavai jaavai |1|
ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਾਥੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Entangled in worldly attachments, he comes and goes. ||1||
ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕਾ ਮਨ; ਦੇਖੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
dohaaganee kaa man; dekh seegaar |
ਵੇਖੋ, ਛੱਡੀ ਹੋਈ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ।
Behold, the decorations of the discarded bride!
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤਿ ਧਨਿ, ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ; ਝੂਠੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
putr kalat dhan, maaeaa chit laae; jhootth mohu paakhandd vikaar |1| rahaau |
ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਿਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜਕਿਆਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਹੁਟੀਆਂ, ਦੌਲਤ, ਜਾਇਦਾਦ, ਕੂੜ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ, ਦੰਭ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Her consciousness is attached to children, spouse, wealth, and Maya, falsehood, emotional attachment, hypocrisy and corruption. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ; ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
sadaa sohaagan; jo prabh bhaavai |
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੈ।
She who is pleasing to God is forever a happy soul-bride.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ; ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਵੈ ॥
gurasabadee; seegaar banaavai |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਾਰਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀਂ ਹੈ।
She makes the Word of the Guru's Shabad her decoration.
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ; ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਵੈ ॥
sej sukhaalee; anadin har raavai |
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਲੰਘ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
Her bed is so comfortable; she enjoys her Lord, night and day.
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ; ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
mil preetam; sadaa sukh paavai |2|
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Meeting her Beloved, the obtains eternal peace. ||2||
ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਾਚੀ; ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
saa sohaagan saachee; jis saach piaar |
ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਪਤਨੀ, ਜੋ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
She is a true, virtuous soul-bride, who enshrines love for the True Lord.
ਅਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ; ਸਦਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
apanaa pir raakhai; sadaa ur dhaar |
ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
She keeps her Husband Lord always clasped to her heart.
ਨੇੜੈ ਵੇਖੈ; ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
nerrai vekhai; sadaa hadoor |
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ; ਸਗੋਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਦੇਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
She sees Him near at hand, ever-present.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ; ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
meraa prabh; sarab rahiaa bharapoor |3|
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
My God is all-pervading everywhere. ||3||
ਆਗੈ; ਜਾਤਿ ਰੂਪੁ. ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
aagai; jaat roop. na jaae |
ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ, ਵਰਨ ਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ, ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ।
Social status and beauty will not go with you hereafter.
ਤੇਹਾ ਹੋਵੈ; ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
tehaa hovai; jehe karam kamaae |
ਜੇਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਅਮਲ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਮਾਏ ਹਨ, ਉੱਥੇ ਉਹ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ, ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
As are the deeds done here, so does one become.
ਸਬਦੇ; ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
sabade; aoocho aoochaa hoe |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Word of the Shabad, one becomes the highest of the high.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੭॥
naanak; saach samaavai soe |4|8|47|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, he is absorbed in the True Lord. ||4||8||47||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਆਸਾ ਤੀਸਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਭਗਤਿ ਰਤਾ ਜਨੁ; ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
bhagat rataa jan; sehaj subhaae |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
The Lord's humble servant is imbued with devotional love, effortlessly and spontaneously.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ; ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
gur kai bhai; saachai saach samaae |
ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through awe and fear of the Guru, he is truly absorbed in the True One.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ; ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
bin gur poore; bhagat na hoe |
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
Without the Perfect Guru, devotional love is not obtained.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰੁੰਨੇ; ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥੧॥
manamukh rune; apanee pat khoe |1|
ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੁੰਦਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗੁਆ ਕੇ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The self-willed manmukhs lose their honor, and cry out in pain. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ; ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
mere man; har jap sadaa dhiaae |
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
O my mind, chant the Lord's Name, and meditate on Him forever.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ; ਜੋ ਇਛੈ. ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sadaa anand hovai din raatee; jo ichhai. soee fal paae |1| rahaau |
ਦਿਹੁੰ ਰੈਣ ਤੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਗੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਮੇਵਾ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
You shall always be in ecstasy, day and night, and you shall obtain the fruits of your desires. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ; ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur poore te; pooraa paae |
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Through the Perfect Guru, the Perfect Lord is obtained,
ਹਿਰਦੈ; ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
hiradai; sabad sach naam vasaae |
ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਤਸ਼ਕਰਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
and the Shabad, the True Name, is enshrined in the mind.
ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ; ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਏ ॥
antar niramal; amrit sar naae |
ਜੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who bathes in the Pool of Ambrosial Nectar becomes immaculately pure within.
ਸਦਾ ਸੂਚੇ; ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੨॥
sadaa sooche; saach samaae |2|
ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He becomes forever sanctified, and is absorbed in the True Lord. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ; ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
har prabh vekhai; sadaa hajoor |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
He sees the Lord God ever-present.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ; ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, he sees the Lord permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਜਹਾ ਜਾਉ; ਤਹ ਵੇਖਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
jahaa jaau; teh vekhaa soe |
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Wherever I go, there I see Him.
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ; ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ।
Without the Guru, there is no other Giver. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ. ਪੂਰਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਅਨਗਿਣਤ,
The Guru is the ocean, the perfect treasure,
ਊਤਮ ਰਤਨ. ਜਵਾਹਰ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

ਅਤੇ ਵਡਮੁਲੇ ਲਾਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਵੇਹਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ।
the most precious jewel and priceless ruby.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, the Great Giver blesses us;
ਨਾਨਕ; ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੯॥੪੮॥
naanak; bakhase bakhasanahaar |4|9|48|
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਫੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਫ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, the Forgiving Lord forgives us. ||4||9||48||
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਆਸਾ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Aasaa, Third Mehl:
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਇਰੁ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੀ ਸ਼ੁਹਰਤ ਹੈ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ।
The Guru is the Ocean; the True Guru is the Embodiment of Truth.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ; ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
poorai bhaag; gur sevaa hoe |
ਪੂਰਨ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through perfect good destiny, one serves the Guru.
