ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੌਣ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ?
Who has established himself as a Siddha, a being of miraculous spiritual powers, by killing his mind? ||1||
ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਮੁਨਿ; ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
kavan su mun; jo man maarai |
ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਚੁੱਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਦਾ ਅਭਾਵ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ?
Who is that silent sage, who has killed his mind?
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਾਰਿ; ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man kau maar; kahahu kis taarai |1| rahaau |
ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਕੇ, ਦੱਸੋ ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਹਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰਾਏਗਾ? ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
By killing the mind, tell me, who is saved? ||1||Pause||
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ; ਬੋਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
man antar; bolai sabh koee |
ਮਨੁਏ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
Everyone speaks through the mind.
ਮਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ; ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
man maare bin; bhagat na hoee |2|
ਮਨੁਏ ਦੀ ਬਦੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
Without killing the mind, devotional worship is not performed. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ; ਜੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
kahu kabeer; jo jaanai bheo |
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
Says Kabeer, one who knows the secret of this mystery,
ਮਨੁ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ; ਤਿ੍ਰਭਵਣ ਦੇਉ ॥੩॥੨੮॥
man madhusoodan; tribhavan deo |3|28|
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਜਹਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
beholds within his own mind the Lord of the three worlds. ||3||28||

ਓਇ ਜੁ ਦੀਸਹਿ; ਅੰਬਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥

ਉਹ ਜੋ ਦਿਸ ਰਹੇ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਛਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ,
The stars which are seen in the sky
ਕਿਨਿ ਓਇ ਚੀਤੇ; ਚੀਤਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
kin oe cheete; cheetanahaare |1|
ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਚਿੱਤਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਚਿਤਰੇ ਹਨ?

ਕਹੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ; ਅੰਬਰੁ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ॥

ਦੱਸ ਹੇ ਪੰਡਤ! ਅਸਮਾਨ ਕਾਹਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Tell me, O Pandit, what is the sky attached to?
ਬੂਝੈ; ਬੂਝਨਹਾਰੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
boojhai; boojhanahaar sabhaagaa |1| rahaau |
ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Very fortunate is the knower who knows this. ||1||Pause||
ਸੂਰਜ ਚੰਦੁ; ਕਰਹਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
sooraj chand; kareh ujeeaaraa |
ਸੂਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The sun and the moon give their light;
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ; ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
sabh meh pasariaa; braham pasaaraa |2|
ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
God's creative extension extends everywhere. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ; ਜਾਨੈਗਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
kahu kabeer; jaanaigaa soe |
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੇਗਾ,
Says Kabeer, he alone knows this,
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ; ਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮੈ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥੨੯॥
hiradai raam; mukh raamai hoe |3|29|
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ।
whose heart is filled with the Lord, and whose mouth is also filled with the Lord. ||3||29||

ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ; ਸਿੰਮਿ੍ਰਤਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
bed kee putree; sinmrit bhaaee |
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਤੀ, ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜਕੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!
The Simritee is the daughter of the Vedas, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਸਾਂਕਲ ਜੇਵਰੀ; ਲੈ ਹੈ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
saankal jevaree; lai hai aaee |1|
ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਜੰਜੀਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
She has brought a chain and a rope. ||1||
ਆਪਨ ਨਗਰੁ; ਆਪ ਤੇ ਬਾਧਿਆ ॥
aapan nagar; aap te baadhiaa |
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
She has imprisoned the people in her own city.
ਮੋਹ ਕੈ ਫਾਧਿ; ਕਾਲ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਂਧਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
moh kai faadh; kaal sar saandhiaa |1| rahaau |
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
She has tightened the noose of emotional attachment and shot the arrow of death. ||1||Pause||
ਕਟੀ ਨ ਕਟੈ; ਤੂਟਿ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
kattee na kattai; toott neh jaaee |
ਵਢਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਵੱਢੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਟੁਟਦੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
By cutting, she cannot be cut, and she cannot be broken.
ਸਾ ਸਾਪਨਿ ਹੋਇ; ਜਗ ਕਉ ਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
saa saapan hoe; jag kau khaaee |2|
ਨਾਗਣ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
She has become a serpent, and she is eating the world. ||2||
ਹਮ ਦੇਖਤ; ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਲੂਟਿਆ ॥
ham dekhat; jin sabh jag loottiaa |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਮ੍ਹਣੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਹਾਨ ਲੁਟ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
Before my very eyes, she has plundered the entire world.
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ; ਮੈ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਛੂਟਿਆ ॥੩॥੩੦॥
kahu kabeer; mai raam keh chhoottiaa |3|30|
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ, ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
Says Kabeer, chanting the Lord's Name, I have escaped her. ||3||30||

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਦੇਇ ਮੁਹਾਰ; ਲਗਾਮੁ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਉ ॥
dee muhaar; lagaam pahiraavau |
ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮੌਹ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਕਸਤ ਦੇਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ-ਕੋਤਲ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਡਿਆਲਾ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ,
I have grasped the reins and attached the bridle;
ਸਗਲ ਤ ਜੀਨੁ; ਗਗਨ ਦਉਰਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
sagal ta jeen; gagan dauraavau |1|
ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਦਾ ਤਿਆਗ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਜਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।
abandoning everything, I now ride through the skies. ||1||
ਅਪਨੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ; ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
apanai beechaar; asavaaree keejai |
ਸਵੈ-ਸੋਚ-ਬੀਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
I made self-reflection my mount,
ਸਹਜ ਕੈ ਪਾਵੜੈ; ਪਗੁ ਧਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sehaj kai paavarrai; pag dhar leejai |1| rahaau |
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਰਕਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੈਰ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
and in the stirrups of intuitive poise, I placed my feet. ||1||Pause||
ਚਲੁ ਰੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ; ਤੁਝਹਿ ਲੇ ਤਾਰਉ ॥
chal re baikuntth; tujheh le taarau |
ਆ ਹੇ ਕੋਤਲ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਚੱਲਾ।
Come, and let me ride you to heaven.
ਹਿਚਹਿ ਤ; ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਬੁਕ ਮਾਰਉ ॥੨॥
hicheh ta; prem kai chaabuk maarau |2|
ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਅੜੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਚਾਬਕ ਮਾਰਾਂਗਾ।
If you hold back, then I shall strike you with the whip of spiritual love. ||2||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ; ਭਲੇ ਅਸਵਾਰਾ ॥
kehat kabeer; bhale asavaaraa |
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹਨ,
Says Kabeer, those who remain detached from the
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਤੇ; ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੩੧॥
bed kateb te; raheh niraaraa |3|31|
ਜੋ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨੀ ਮਜ਼ਹਬੀ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਟੰਕ ਵਿਚਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Vedas, the Koran and the Bible are the best riders. ||3||31||

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਜਿਹ ਮੁਖਿ; ਪਾਂਚਉ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਖਾਏ ॥
jih mukh; paanchau amrit khaae |
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਪੰਜ ਨਿਆਮ੍ਹਤਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ,
That mouth, which used to eat the five delicacies
ਤਿਹ ਮੁਖ ਦੇਖਤ; ਲੂਕਟ ਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
tih mukh dekhat; lookatt laae |1|
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਬੂ ਲਗਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
- I have seen the flames being applied to that mouth. ||1||
ਇਕੁ ਦੁਖੁ; ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
eik dukh; raam raae kaattahu meraa |
ਹੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਨਸ਼ਾਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਇਕ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਰਫਾ ਕਰ ਦੇ,
O Lord, my King, please rid me of this one affliction:
ਅਗਨਿ ਦਹੈ; ਅਰੁ ਗਰਭ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
agan dahai; ar garabh baseraa |1| rahaau |
ਗਰਭ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਣ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੜਣ ਦੀ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
may I not be burned in fire, or cast into the womb again. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਇਆ ਬਿਗੂਤੀ; ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਤੀ ॥
kaaeaa bigootee; bahu bidh bhaatee |
ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਰੀਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਢੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਖਤਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The body is destroyed by so many ways and means.
ਕੋ ਜਾਰੇ; ਕੋ ਗਡਿ ਲੇ ਮਾਟੀ ॥੨॥
ko jaare; ko gadd le maattee |2|
ਕਈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੁਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਮੀਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਬਦੇ ਹਨ।
Some burn it, and some bury it in the earth. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ; ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਦਿਖਾਵਹੁ ॥
kahu kabeer; har charan dikhaavahu |
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਵਿਖਾਲ।
Says Kabeer, O Lord, please reveal to me Your Lotus Feet;
ਪਾਛੈ ਤੇ ਜਮੁ; ਕਿਉ ਨ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ॥੩॥੩੨॥
paachhai te jam; kiau na patthaavahu |3|32|
ਮਗਰੋਂ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੌਤ ਹੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਘਲ ਦੇਈਂ?
after that, go ahead and send me to my death. ||3||32||

ਆਪੇ ਪਾਵਕੁ; ਆਪੇ ਪਵਨਾ ॥

ਹਰੀ ਖੁਦ ਅੱਗ ਹੈ, ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਹਵਾ।
He Himself is the fire, and He Himself is the wind.
ਜਾਰੈ ਖਸਮੁ; ਤ ਰਾਖੈ ਕਵਨਾ ॥੧॥
jaarai khasam; ta raakhai kavanaa |1|
ਜਦ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੀ ਸਾੜਨਾ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਕੌਣ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
When our Lord and Master wishes to burn someone, then who can save him? ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ; ਤਨੁ ਜਰਿ ਕੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
raam japat; tan jar kee na jaae |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਭੀ ਬੇਸ਼ਕ ਸੜ ਜਾਵੇ?
When I chant the Lord's Name, what does it matter if my body burns?
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ; ਚਿਤੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam; chit rahiaa samaae |1| rahaau |
ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
My consciousness remains absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾ ਕੋ ਜਰੈ; ਕਾਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਨਿ ॥
kaa ko jarai; kaeh hoe haan |
ਕੀਹਦਾ ਘਰ ਸੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
Who is burned, and who suffers loss?
ਨਟ ਵਟ ਖੇਲੈ; ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨਿ ॥੨॥
natt vatt khelai; saarigapaan |2|
ਮਦਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਵਾਙੂ ਹਰੀ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord plays, like the juggler with his ball. ||2||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ; ਅਖਰ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਖਿ ॥
kahu kabeer; akhar due bhaakh |
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ (ਰਾਮ ਦੇ) ਦੋ ਅੱਖਰ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।
Says Kabeer, chant the two letters of the Lord's Name - Raa Maa.
ਹੋਇਗਾ ਖਸਮੁ; ਤ ਲੇਇਗਾ ਰਾਖਿ ॥੩॥੩੩॥
hoeigaa khasam; ta leeigaa raakh |3|33|
ਜੇਕਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਏਗਾ।
If He is your Lord and Master, He will protect you. ||3||33||
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੁਪਦੇ₂ ॥

ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੁਪਦੇ।

ਨਾ ਮੈ; ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
naa mai; jog dhiaan chit laaeaa |
ਮੈਂ ਯੋਗ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਫਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਜਾ ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿਤਾ।
I have not practiced Yoga, or focused my consciousness on meditation.
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ; ਨ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
bin bairaag; na chhoottas maaeaa |1|
